Sen. Joe Lieberman will be endorsing John McCain

^^^

I'll tell you why there is no such thing as an "Independent Democrat."

A "Democrat" is the member of the Democratic Party. An "Independent" is a voter associated with neither the Democratic nor the Republican Party. And ne'er the twain shall meet. It's as simple as that.

And how do you claim that the Connecticut voters know Joe Lieberman? Politicians never change their minds, or their positions? Whenever a politician wins one term, than their constituency knows them perfectly? That claim doesn't make sense at all.

I don't believe Joe Lieberman has changed - he's always been a consistent supporter of strong defense - relatively liberal on social issues - pretty straight forward

like i said he's a senior senator who has delivered (pork) for CT - he's an honest guy - i think the voters know him - not necessarily agree with him always - which is ok

as for independent dem - it's how he is listed - so not sure what to say about that

I get that people disagree with Lieberman - i don't get that the left wingers - dailykos - went after him - and tried to get newbie lamont to take his place - because of one issue - the war in iraq - that was bogus IMO

Personally, I like politicians who vote their conscience - I don't expect to agree with those I vote for all the time - just want to understand why they do what they do - and i respect that

and mccain is a real good man

too bad he didn't win the repub primary the first time he ran - i imagine had we still gone to iraq it would have gone much better

... or more accurately, distort their positions and/or outright lie about their intentions while asking voters for another six-year term? As I said, if Connecticut voters had a chance to vote back Joementmum in or out, he would not make the cut.

"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice..."

me thinks ur misrepresenting senator mccain's positions

Well, he's said flat out that an orderly government is more important that free speech, and he's made a number of vote's against it.
And he's supported a variety of invasions of privacy without judicial oversight.
On the Second Amendment, he likes to talk about how he's for it, but by his votes and actions he wants the words without any meaning.

Lieberman. One word - Yoda. But not nearly as wise.

Short and green?

And I do agree that John McCain would make a decent president. Not someone I think I'd vote for, but the Republicans could do worse. But Lieberman said, without equivocation, that he would be better than Lamont at helping to get a Democrat elected to the White House in 2008. It's only a year later, and he's already been proved a liar.

Maybe supporting McCain is his idea of helping a dem get into the seat. I mean the span of dems has to hope for a weak republican so they have a chance.
