I wanted to put this somewhere because of the importance of it. It has both sides. One Republican terminally stupid and one Democrat who has come a long way himself.

Vote is scheduled for 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time tomorrow!

I will be shocked if Conrad filps his vote, considering he voted for repeal in committee, and also voted to break cloture twice of the Defense Authorization Bill. Also, I'm sure Snowe will vote for repeal since several other Republican Senators have been confirmed already.

I will be shocked if Conrad filps his vote, considering he voted for repeal in committee, and also voted to break cloture twice of the Defense Authorization Bill. Also, I'm sure Snowe will vote for repeal since several other Republican Senators have been confirmed already.

Conrad is not on the armed services committee so he never voted for it in committee.

He did support cloture on the NDAA however that was for the overall bill. He could have wanted to pass that to support the military (since it is needed) even if he personally disagreed with repealing DADT. So his previous votes do not really tell us where he stands specifically on just that policy.

On the plus side, CNN's Dana Bash has spoken to aids of all 4 GOP senators who have issued statements of support and all 4 have said they will vote for repeal even if the government funding is not resolved yet.

So that should be at least 61 votes even if Conrad voted no.

Apprently Tony Perkins had vowed to get Snowe out of office in Maine if she dares to along with repealing DADT.
While there can be no doubt people of Perkin's ilk have power, most people in power don't like being threatened.

Right before election day, Kirk was portraying himself as an independent. When he compared his victory to "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" I wanted to puke. If I say anything further, I will be violating JUB posting (and George Carlin) standards.

He's one of the best U.S. Senators (Karl Rove money) can buy. He's not to be trusted.

A group called "Organizing for America" handed Senator Kirk 28,000 signatures today, urging him to vote for the repeal of DADT.

If he changes his mind, I may have to eat my words. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm ready with knife and fork in hand. C'mon Senator Kirk, make a liar out of me.
