You gotta love the senator from Delaware. Too bad he was eclipsed by Obama and Clinton in the primaries, as I think he would've made a formidable candidate.

cnn.com said:
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joe Biden, D-Delaware, called President Bush’s comments accusing Sen. Barack Obama and other Democrats of wanting to appease terrorists "bulls–t” and said if the president disagrees so strongly with the idea of talking to Iran then he needs to fire his secretaries of State and Defense, both of whom Biden said have pushed to sit down with the Iranians.

The rest of the story can be found here.

Go, Big Joe! ..|

For any future presidential debates, we should add a required question: "Will you promise to call a spade a spade? Please give an example".

I have problems with Biden, but any man who will stand up and call "Bullshit!" on the president gets a gold star.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

Bush is a disgrace. If he would keep his f#@king mouth shut, we would all be better off. What he said was wrong, in the wrong place, and at the wrong time.

He'd make a great Vice Presidential candidate.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

Two points, though:
1) Bush was making a broad statement about those who would negotiate with such regimes.
2) Obama has in fact stated he would do so.

So what is the problem? Have the balls to say, "I dunno if Bush was talking about me but yeah, I'd hold talks with them."
President Kennedy said in his inaugural address, "Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate." If he hadn't negotiated with Krushchev during the Cuban missile crisis, none of us would even be here to talk about this!

The problem is George Bush. Using an address to the Knesset as a political cheap shot forum is disgraceful and not worthy of a sitting President of the United States.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

The problem is, there is a standing rule, unstated but agreed upon, that presidents don't make partisan statements overseas. It is a breathtaking, literally breathtaking, abrogation if this policy to make ANY kind of partisan political statement of this kind, whether specifically directed at Obama or not, to the Knesset. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, it's just not done.

He can say it wasn't directed at Obama but it's pretty obvious that it's just another one of his lies, we all now exactly what he meant.

Even Pat Buchanan, arch-conservative, was like, "WTF??!!!"

These people are evil, evil to the core.

In a speech to Israel's Knesset, Bush said: "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is—the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

I can't help thinking that the Dems got baited on this, particulary when it has been reported that the White House was telling the press that there would be something unusual in the speech.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

Yet more evidence of the worst Presidential administration in history. "The false comfort of appeasement"??? What a crock.

I'd feel a lot more comforted by a government that was prepared to discuss problems, than by one who holds their hands to their ears and shouts "Not listening until you do it my way!!"

.... only further proof how out of touch this ham-fisted Bush administration has been from day one.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

Anderson Cooper tonight said that "Bush played the Nazi card". I think that sums it up pretty well.

^ I'm a big fan a Biden as well. Would make a good VP.

If Obama wins the election, IMO he should make Joe Biden the Secretary of State and John Edwards the AG.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

Nothing like a courageous President telling it like it is to bring out the fervent bashers for a new round of "Bush sucks, Bush sucks". It just never gets old does it?

Of course, the day after 9-11, most of these same folks were extremely grateful that a man of determination was in the White House. You know who you were. The very same folks that were glad the appeasers were not in charge!

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

CO Bob, perhaps you are unclear of the difference between negotiation and appeasement:

appease |əˈpēz|
verb [ trans. ]
pacify or placate (someone) by acceding to their demands .

negotiate |nəˈgō sh ēˌāt|
verb
try to reach an agreement or compromise by discussion with others : his government's willingness to negotiate.

I can't say I've ever heard ANY US politician offer an appeasement to terrorists. If you believe Bush's Israel speech was somehow accurate, please show us where or when Obama has ever suggested appeasement of terrorists is on his agenda.

And do we REALLY have to rehash the 9 months of ignorance, stupidity and plain negligence that the Bush administration showed prior to 9/11? Its very well documented.

Two Months Before 9/11, an Urgent Warning to Rice

Like the appeaser Donald Rumsfeld who was sent by Reagan in 1983 to ensure Saddam Hussein that his use of Chemical Weapons (WMD) was not an impediment to improved US relations with Iraq? The Reagan appeasement administration that restored diplomatic relations with Saddam Hussein's Iraq in 1984?

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

I can't say I've ever heard ANY US politician offer an appeasement to terrorists.

Ronald Reagan appeased terrorists as a matter of policy. He first did so when he was running for President in 1980. He struck a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran to withhold the release of hostages during the Carter-Reagan campaign. They were released minutes after he was sworn in as President in Jan. 1981.

Reagan then arranged for the supply of weapons from Israel to the Islamic Republic of Iran in return for the release of American hostages held by Hezbollah in Lebanon. Three Americans were released. Three more were taken hostage.

Reagan authorized the deployment of 1000 + Marines to Lebanon in 1983. When 300+ of them were killed in a suicide bombing, Reagan pulled them out.

Reagan supported the mujahiden in Afghanistan - freedom fighters to him. Islamic terrorists as they would be defined today

Reagan was the greatest appeaser since Chamberlain. Bush is a close second.

Ummm.....have you never heard of Jimmy Carter?

Biden yes....Edwards NO WAY......we need a AG who isnt going to run for office...some one who has FEDERAL law experince.

I would find it hard to think Edwards would be the best we have.

Ummm are you aware that Jimmy Carter is a FORMER President unlike George Bush who is a SITTING President? That was the concern of the poster that you objected to.

Oops...sorry you are right.....however the unwritten rulesI allways heard was that when you go overseas you never say anything bad about the USA.......that rule seems to have died.

There is also one about past POTUS dont bash the new guy......that seem to have died also.

I didnt vote for Bush SR but I respected the fact that he never bashed Clintion when you knew he wanted to very much. Bill Clinton was doing it also till Sen Clinton started the run.
