That would make you a Democrat; I didn't think you wanted to go there?

Does this thread win some award for most egregious hijacking?
Only if the award is done Monty Python style, first the spankings and then the oral sex!! :p

But Borgs as Democrats? I don't think Democrats want to assimilate the Republicans, just trample them into the dirt and gloat for a while. I think of the Democrats sort of like earth in the 24th century, living in a money-free paradise where everyone eats replicated food except for a few eccentrics. They also never seem to appreciate that their butts are constantly being saved by certain Starfleet captains out on the front lines...

Now the Republicans are easy, they're really aggressive Ferengi

 I can be anything you want me to be :sex:

 ooh :p

So I guess I'm a _________ then huh ;)

Be a Klingon. They're militaristic pseudo-anarchists who love to party, argue anything with anybody and are feared by almost everybody. They also have the coolest weapons and ships. The only downsides are the armour, a bit uncomfortable and smelly, and their diet. But drink enough bloodwine and I'm sure you won't care if the gagh is still wiggling on the way down... ;)

thanks for all the answers so far guys!!

keep them coming

whats interesting is that there are so many variations on personal ideologies yet so few outlets for americans to express them

i think the europeans and the canadians are better served by not having such a rigid two party system

just remember

this is just an easy way to generally figure out peoples ideologies that dont have to do with sex in comparison to their sexual prefferences

its not really about the political parties so much as its about the way we believe

thanks again guys!

And now I'll make a response that's actually on-topic ;)

I think it's mistake to read too much into the rigidity of the American system, the same problems apply when I try to translate my Canadian conservative values to the UK, which even has the same political system (more or less) as my own. Yes I agree the US system can be too rigid, but no, the Canadians and Europeans don't necessarily have it that much better either. I mean look what's going on in France right now. Almost half the people who voted in the last round voted for someone else than the 2 names now on the ballot. Essentially, they're now having to choose between 2 ideological extremes when maybe they were looking for a different choice.

Or look at Canada in the 1990s when the 'right wing' fell apart into 2 parties and there was no alternative government in waiting. The Liberals won big majorities in Parliament in this period, not because there was a consensus behind them, but because the opposition to them was so fractured between the socialists, the Quebec nationalists, and 2 'conservative' parties. So sometimes, too many political choices can lead to a one-party state (which is much, much worse than a 2-party state).

Being gay is different from almost any other 'minority group', because we are a microcosm of society overall. We include both genders, every cultural/ethnicity out there, the broadest possible diversity of political, social, economic and religious beliefs and backgrounds. We even find it difficult to form a consensus on the importance and goals of issues specific to us like gay marriage, let alone a consensus on how to act upon them. So let's celebrate that diversity and be as proud about it as being proud to be gay in the first place!! ..|
