Sheriff: Father kills man sexually abusing his daughter - CNN.com

A Texas father caught a man sexually assaulting his 4-year-old daughter and punched him in the head repeatedly, killing him, authorities said. The father was casually acquainted with the alleged abuser, said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon.

The girl was left inside the family's house during the social gathering, while other members of her family were tending to horses, the sheriff said.

Asked whether they would press charges against the father, the sheriff responded, "You have a right to defend your daughter. He acted in defense of his third person.

Stand your ground wins again, tbh

So, mainly from a couple of websites the response is: "Good for him"

"Hope to meet a guy like that one day"

"I'd do the same"

I'm mad the rapist is dead. I don't think death is a punishment I think it is a relief and I am not proud of that father at all.

After the man was knocked on his ass you were no longer "Protecting your daughter" as you literally beat him to death. You were acting out of emotion.

Does someone want to tell me why a four year old girl was left with this man in the first place?

Oh my God I sound like such a bitch :dead:

I'm sorry, it's just. The idea of raping someone is horrific.

Then it being a four year old girl. On top of that hitting someone so hard in the head over and over again so that it kills him?

What else could of possibly happened? He eat the rapist afterwards?

Thank fuck. Another child-raper off of the planet. Who gives a shit how it happened, I'm proud of this father for taking care of his daughter. I think anyone who's had their child be raped by a paedophile would applaud and commend this man's actions.

It just scares me what humans are capable of and I am not even talking about the rapist.

In stories like this you just don't expect that kind of reaction (Immediate death of the rapist). Should it happen more often? I honestly am not prepared to answer that but it just freaks me out that there are fathers, sons, friends, wives, sisters, bosses, neighbors who are ready to take things in their own hands.

Lines get blurred, truths come out, and situations become convoluted. It's why we have a justice system (That rarely serves justice, to be totally honest) to weave through all of that.

The entire story is just disturbing.

All I know is between getting raped and then watching your dad kill someone that girl had one hell of a day.

Someone walks in on their own four-year-old child being raped, I think the instant reaction should be "I'm going to kill that sick excuse for a human being".

Disagree. I think the immediate reaction should be, " I need to protect my kid. " If that happens to be ripping out somebody's throat so be it, but the thought should be the protection of the child not the killing of another human. Some can't see the difference in that but there is one.

if the molester is castrated he won't have sexual urges, thus solving the problem.

The problem though is that child molesters and rapists have a psychological desire to dominate and/or demean. Castrating them will not cure their mental illness. They'll find some other way to hurt kids.

After the man was knocked on his ass you were no longer "Protecting your daughter" as you literally beat him to death. You were acting out of emotion.

If you've ever heard the term "seeing red" this is that type of situation. Once he saw what was happening and began the assault, he was no longer there mentally speaking.

Is killing someone wrong ? Yes. However, I couldnt care less that the man was beat to death. Ive seen what people like him can do to a person's life.

As a father of 2 small children I totally understand the fathers reaction and don't have a problem with what he did. God help anyone that does something like that to one of my kids. In fact I think he got off too easy.

This is a tragic story, I personally think child molesters should be castrated, I've watched enough Oprah to know that a person attracted to a child will always be that way, and will act on there urges when possible, permanently scarring the child for life, if the molester is castrated he won't have sexual urges, thus solving the problem.

Doesn't always work that way -- there have been numerous cases of molesters being chemically castrated who reoffend, and in worse fashion because they're trying to get the feeling they lost. It would be more effective to use drugs and hypnosis to reprogram their urges, and give each one a sheep.

BTW, what you learned from Oprah is bullshit. Many molesters merely have sexual issues from childhood that have them fixated (stuck) on that age group; helping them work through the issues so they can 'target' legal age people is possible. And a great number never re-offend after being caught -- in fact, re-offenses by sexual criminals is the second lowest likelihood of any crime (murder is first -- murderers rarely kill a second time). Oprah is being sensationalistic, focusing on the small segment of offenders who have not the least desire to change, and thus can't change, or be treated. Yes, they're scary, but treating all molesters that way is barbaric, sort of like treating anyone who owns a lighter as an arsonist.

I know 99% of you will not agree with my statement and again I say I do not condone this kind of behavior. There is very little known as to what causes this attraction, the human brain is largely a medical mystery. Is death the best solution to any mental illness? No. Is rehabilitation an option? Not in every case, but as Humans we all deserve that chance to heal. I'm not saying release all the pedophiles into the world, that would be catastrophic as a VAST majority of CONVICTED sex offenders will commit an act of sexual assault again. Chemical and Physical castration in no way stops a sexual predator from being dangerous. I don't need a work penis to have sexual encounters, nor do any of us. Castration doesn't stop a person sexual urges so much as help suppress them. A castrated person still feels attraction, as it's not a strictly testosterone/estrogen hormone reaction.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, only about five percent of convicted sex offenders will commit any other sexual abuse. That's far from "a VAST majority" -- in fact the only crime for which the recidivism rate is lower is murder. In fact when those sex offenders do what's required of them, i.e. registering and keeping their residence current, they're less likely to re-offend than are murderers (on the flip side, one who has failed to register more than once is a ticking time/sex bomb).

For the safety of your family, if you have to have criminals for neighbors, you're actually safer with a sex offender than with an arsonist, burglar, or any of the violent crimes like assault.

I feel that child molesters should be executed anyway

Really? Are you aware that in some places, if you're taking a shower in your own house and a kid twelve years old breaks in and sees you naked, you just became a 'child molester'? Or that if you're in the woods and decide to take a leak against a tree, and a fourteen year old kid comes along the trail and sees your penis, you just became a 'child molester'? For that matter, are you aware that a substantial portion of registered sex offenders who classify as child molesters have never touched a child sexually, but got convicted because they were charged with multiple counts of enough things that if they lost in court they would have gone to prison for a century or more, so they took a plea bargain so they could have some sort of life? And are you aware that a fair number of 'child molesters' were the boyfriends of the supposed victim and it was consensual, but the law specifically states it couldn't be consensual? or that people who have been drugged or passed out from alcohol who get used as sex toys by minors while they are unconscious are then 'child molesters'?

Here's a place where not believing the government one bit is the healthiest and most humane thing to do. The sex offender industry doesn't care about truth or people's lives, it just wants to churn out lots of "child molesters" so the architects and those who feed off the system can get praise and steady jobs.

I feel the need to back this with fact's

"Pedophilia can be described as a disorder of sexual preference, phenomenologically similar to a heterosexual or homosexual sexual orientation because it emerges prior or during puberty, and because it is stable over time." - Brian L. Cutler, Encyclopedia of Psychology and Law, SAGE, 2008, ISBN 978-1-4129-5189-0, p. 549

"These observations, however, do not exclude pedophilia from the group of mental disorders because pedophilic acts cause harm, and pedophiles can sometimes be helped by mental health professionals to refrain from acting on their impulses" - Treatments to Change Sexual Orientation, Fred S. Berlin

For a complete understanding for any of those like myself who are willing to read and educate themselves further about Pedophilia click this link, it's quite educational.

Ah -- pedophilia is a special case. Of course that "it is stable over time" is part of the definition; if someone attracted to pre-pubescent kids who doesn't change over time is automatically excluded, so it's a sort of self-refining definition.

It's different from the rest because attraction to kids with effectively no sexual characteristics can't be changed by gradually shifting the attraction to older figures with any dependability. Such an attempt almost always runs up against a simple but extreme barrier: the appearance of pubic hair is a turn-off for a pedophile. Their age attraction can be shifted upwards, from five y.o. to eight to ten or even twelve, but when the puberty barrier is reached that's the limit. I did read of one case where the attraction was raised higher, but by the expedient of having totally shaved individuals presented as targets for desire -- making it an interesting scientific venture not useful to the real world.

But once the line into puberty is crossed, the game shifts. For some it shifts simply because their sexual development got arrested early in high school, for example, and if the issues which caused that can be resolved, the fixation crumbles -- sort of like me when I finally admitted myself to be sexual, and shortly thereafter to like other guys; my first attraction was to kids the age when I really clamped down on my sexuality... but it didn't take longer to raise it merely by hanging out with people 18 and up, to the point where now I have trouble imagining hanging out with anyone not old enough to go to bars.

No way this father is going to jail. No way any DA is going to find a jury that is going to convinct a father for killing a man who was raping his four year old.

Jesus Christ man, why do you twist everyone's words and put it the extreme. Obviously johaninsc meant people who actually molested children, not some kid who walks up to guy taking a piss on a tree.

But, the question here isn't whether or not raping a 4 year old is right or wrong, since we all know the answer to that question.
The question is: is it really okay to take the law into your own hands? Now don't get me wrong. I've never been molested/have a child that has been/could be molested or anything likely, so admittedly I can't even assure you that I wouldn't react in the same way as the father did in this story. But are we really in the position to be the judge over who should live and who should die?
Imo he should have been punished within the realm of the law - that's what it's there for.

But what a sick man. I really feel really sorry for the little girl.

Damn, I can't believed someone cited Oprah.
