I mostly wear old-fashioned tennis shoes... the canvas kind with flat soles. I'm currently wearing gray Pumas, red-and-black plaid Chaps, and madras Vans deck shoes in rotation.

I lately threw out a pair of taupe leather Rockport walkers (I call them my Old Man Shoes) that were the most comfortable shoes I ever owned, but the sole wore down to the inner waffling after five years and they make a funny noise when I walk. I also have a pair of tan nubuck Timberland slip-ons that are now too beat-up to wear in public.

I have dressier shoes that I never wear anymore, brown-and-beige Florsheim nubuck saddle-shoes and oxblood Dexter penny-loafers being my favorite, but I'm still resistant to them after having a job that made me wear them.

And I love wearing boots...tall boots, knee- or thigh-high. I think I'd wear them more often if I didn't think I'd look like a dick wearing them around everyday.

I get most of my shoes at discount stores like Marshall's and DW Shoes (used to be Shoe Pavilion), sometimes from Payless, and my boots I get on eBay. I have a hard time finding shoes that are comfortable and age-appropriate, but I do enjoy shopping, so it's no big deal to browse through two hundred shoes before I find a pair I like.

I like all kinds of shoes. It's kind of a problem.

First of all, for men, it seems that there are generally only two kinds of shoes: formal shoes and tennis shoes, two extremes. It's difficult for me to find anything in between.

I hope you're able to move at some point.

I would like some western boots, only problem is they are desperately uncool right now where I am, and I would be way too tall.
Wonder how I can make this work.

When I purchase shoes I insist that they are comfortable, and fitting E assists me to walk with comfort and respect for my feet.

The rest is vanity.

I have a hard time with shoes. I really want shoes that are cheapish, good for my feet and don't look horrendous. I'm not sure such a shoe actually exists.

I don't know much about shoes. I had athletes foot for a while. So I had to buy some Clarks that let more air in. So that's what I wear now. No more athletes foot. Wonderful, yes?

I'm a plainish black sneakers kind of guy, but the non-sports sneakers, the sort which, should you attempt to be sporty in, would cause you some grievous injury and/or disintegrate.

Give me a pair of non-sports-intended Nikes any day. I have 4 pairs - one jet-black pseudo-football boot, identical in design but with no studs; one space-age looking black pair which fasten with velcro, one pair of mousy-brown suede shoes and a pair of retro-inspired brown and white Capris - as well as some useless, anti-sports black Pumas, and some old black Oakley Chainsaws. Alas my old grey and blue skate-style shoes have since passed on after years of service.

I have a lone pair of brown solid semi-formal lace ups with thick, fuck-off soles which I call my crap-stompers for obvious reasons; should I need to wear proper shoes, these are they.

For actual sports, I use trail running shoes - elderly New Balance 806 in black with grey trim.

Oh... and some flip flops, obviously, although we call them slip-slops here in .za.

For my dress shoes, I just purchased a pair of Ecco brand black ties. I had the most comfortable shoes for the last three years but they finally just wore out; they were Cole-Hahn's with an air sole and felt like slippers. They were so nice and comfortable whether I was walking or standing. Alas....they no longer make them.

For other shoes, I have about 20 pair of tennis-type shoes in every color and style. My DC's are good for going out but not much for running or long walks. Fortunately the hubby and I wear the same size so we swap out.

I agree that loafers are the hardest thing. I have one pair that are comfortable and which I've had for probably 7 years. They are just about on the last step and I have yet to find anything that comes close to their comfort. Maybe when we go to Florida for New Years I'll be able to find another comfy pair.....

I don't know anything about shoes. I've had exactly one pair for the past few years. They're starting to fall apart, but as long as they hold together, I see no need to replace them.

I have a classic pair of black lace-ups, a pair of classic brown lace-ups, NewBalance cross trainers, ECCO grey walking shoes, ECCO black walkers, steel toed boots and crocs for the garden. Oh. And LL Bean mocs. Oh. And a pair of Italian woven leather sandals from about 1985 that I have had resoled twice.

I also have a pair of classic black lace-ups that my grandfather wore in 1920 for his wedding that I can still wear too.

I'm good.

I actually hate getting new shoes now because you have to go through the whole breaking in period.

I have several pairs: black dress shoes for work, walking shoes for the weekend, and various crappy cheap ones for slobbing out in. I tend to wear out shoes quickly (a podiatrist I saw once, when asked about my foot problems, recommended calipers!) so I try not to spend too much. On the other hand, I like to look professional.

My Grandpa always told me, "Shoes make the man."

Which I find interesting, because when I'm looking at "men" that last thing that I'm looking at are their shoes. :p

HOWEVER!

Seeing a hot looking guy wearing open toed sandals in a Gay Bar is somewhat of a "turn off."

Okay, so you couldn't find anything to go with those tight jeans and tight Polo shirt you decided to wear flip-flops?

I hear ya Travis!

Short of wearing second hand shoes from the local second hand store, I make due with what's available:

Keds for casual!

Tony Lama for boots!

I like my shoes like I like my men:

Cheap
Comfortable
Easy to slip on and off
Not too flashy
... and No Stings Attached (laces).

(***Disclaimer*** I DO hate laces on shoes, but like string attached with men.)

They make me taller, and they're easy to slip on and off.

The Spiritual Leaders of my country chose to live without shoes.

But I prefer these~

I have a pair of black 'globe' sneakers, and a pair of custom order engineer boots from Wesco..

Thinking about having wesco build me a pair of harness boots one of these days..

I'm slightly flat-footed, which means boots FUCKING HURT. I also can't wear Adidas and certain lo-tops.

I wear skate and athletic shoes because I like designs(Vans, Converse, Nikes, a very expensive pair of Pumas and a couple of defunct brands).

My shoes don't range in color much(red, white, black, and grey), but i'm trying to change that.

Birkenstocks are my favourites, because they are the most comfortable things for me to wear.

I was a fitness instructor for around a decade, and always ran each night and cycled each morning, until about four or five years ago (I think) when I was walking down the street I actually felt something in my left foot tear (makes me sick just thinking about it). It has since happened to both feet and the ligaments that join each toe to the next have all become really damaged, and the nerves are really swollen. My feet look normal from outside, but I need to have cortisone injections a few times a year and use ice pack every few days to keep the pain down enough to cycle and to walk about. At the end of the day, if I have to stand on the bus or drive a long distance it can almost send me nuts from the constant burning heat and pressure.

But, I have around fifty five pairs of footwear, with lots of dress shoes and boots, some inexpensive, some close to a thousand dollars a pair. I want to get a pair of Australian Salt Water croc boots made up but will have to wait - I want a new guitar first and that is far more important.

I don't know if I have a favorite kind. I won about three pairs of shoes. Work shoes, "going out" shoes and running/gym/physical activity shoes.

If it weren't for me having buttsex with other males, I would think I am straight.
