KINGMAN, Ariz. — A instructor who was shot by a 9-year-old girl who fired an Uzi at a northwestern Arizona shooting range died Monday night at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The girl fired the weapon at the outdoor range that caters to heavy tourism traffic along U.S. Highway 93 between Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

I was just wondering about you opinions on this?

When I went to Vegas for my birthday I went to a range and fired a few guns. The hand gun and sniper rifle I fired I was great at, but the fully-automatic guns were more than I could control. My shooting pattern was all over the upper right hand side of the target. If a guy my size has a hard time firing those types of guns it really make me wonder why the range would let a 9 year old shoot something that strong.

A: assault weapons have no place in a shooting gallery/range.
B: no child should be permitted to shoot weapons in said gallery/range.
C: the child's parent(s)/guardian are culpable in this matter.

...if only firearms instructors at shooting ranges had guns...

A 9 year old girl can practice with a gun?
This is a Dawkins award moment.

^Darwin.

a. No reason to have a fully automatic weapon off the battlefield/military installation.
b. No reason to let a 9 year old girl shoot or have access to a fully automatic weapon.
c. No reason to any 9 year old shoot or have access to a fully automatic weapon.
d. No reason to let anyone not in the military shoot or have access to a fully automatic weapon (i.e., trained, valid purpose, and 18+).
e. No reason to let a 9 year old into a firing range. There should be a higher age requirement and extensive training requirement.
f. No reason to leave anyone unsupervised in a firing range.
g. Both range and the parents are at fault and should be judged accordingly. The girl in question should be charged with criminally negligent manslaughter.

Shit happens. Time to blame the gun-grabbing liberals. Bazinga!

I hear there was on literally trying to snatch the UZI from her cold dead hands - which of course caused it to fire.

*struggling to hold it together*

This tragedy is a mystery.

How could this have ever happened?

We will never know. It is simply one of those questions with no answer.

Now is NOT the time to be talking about this.

Or politicizing this unimaginable event.

A gun instructor is dead here. Have some respect for his family.

The nation needs time to grieve.

BULLETS AND BURGERS.

Yes, that sounds like the kind of place one might find in such a redneck town.

More people need to ask why it is ever appropriate to teach children how to use full-automatic assault weapons of war.

I'm trying to think of a valid reasona nine year old (or anyone for that matter) should have access to an uzi and I can't find one.

It is important to indoctrinate children to the culture of violence in America, as soon as possible.

I wonder what the parents were thinking and what they think now. Has anyone heard if the parents were gun nuts?

They took their 8 year old to the shooting range for a "Desert Storm" experience and let her handle an automatic assault weapon - what do you think?

For all the hoopla gun nuts give to the AK47 because it can survive if an asteriod hit the Earth or whatever, the M16 has still killed way more people, and that's because you can actually aim with it. "Automatic" is way overrated.

even if she isn't charged, this girl will have psych problems for a long time to come.
