To kinda get back to the actual question, though. Without the glorification of celebrity there would be no professional sports as we know it today. No fans would mean no revenue, which would mean no way for the clubs to pay the outrageous salaries to the players..... How many of them would continue to play if they lost out on not only that income but also in the income of endorsement contracts? Their celebrity status is what sells product, the advertising companies wont use them if they don't bring the customers......

Western civilization would not survive without its celebs...... Its a wonder terrorists don't try to blow up Hollywood. OR maybe their afraid of waking the ire of the nation.....
 
I agree. If those celebrities didn't exist then tv wouldn't exist. Hollywood movies make a huge amount of money around the world.

It's easy for people to say that celebrities shouldn't exist when these same people will happily go to the movies and contribute to their existence.
 
Or buy tickets to the games, or pay ungodly amounts of money for a pair of shoes, simply because its endorsed by the "star of the week"......

Its amazing that these people get paid millions to billions of dollars annually to sell overpriced junk to their fans. And the gullible fools buy it all up - hook, line and sinker. #-o :rolleyes:
