Most, if any, of those people are not even gay. Personally I think it's up to the person to choose when to come out. My life is much more different and even though I have been encouraged to come out as 'gay'...I don't feel my sexuality can be defined by that as I have had open and loving sexual relationships with both members of the opposite sex. People need to see that this decision is not as black and white as many want to paint it.

I dont find that right at all...Forcing someone to come out when they are not ready is horrible...I know personally VERY few people know that im bi because im not open about it...so technically im "closeted" and I have alot of reasons for it..I know I would be distraught if the like 2 people that knew told anyone...hell my own mother dosnt know because unfortunately she is someone that is against homosexuality...I know that eventually she would be ok with it but im not ready to face her reaction....and my mom is pretty much the most important person in my life and I'm afraid to lose her if she really takes this the wrong way....anywho....based on personal experience I dont think it would be right AT ALL . IM all for the "gay and proud" but I dont think people should be forced to have to express their homosexuality if they're not ready

"....We taught the world new ways to dream." (Black/Christpher/Webber) Hollywood is entertainment, period. Thus the grief one hears when someone from there voices an opinion about politics. Only the anti-gay bashers deserve to have the 'veil' ripped aside. One shouldn't inflict pain just because one is in pain! :grrr:

celebrities no... absolutely no

i think what perez hilton does to celebs reeks of self hatred on his part

*no one* owes it to me to come out of the closet... every gay person has their own journey & deals with it in the best way they know how

i draw the line when politicians/public figures either try to reduce gay rights or speak negatively of gay people... if they are gay & act in that manner, then i say out em... no mercy

I kinda notice that those who say no to celebrity outings are the ones who probably would kowtow and kiss celebrity feet were they ever to meet them in person. They're gods, of course, so we must respect and pay homage to them. And of course homosex is such a horrible, horrible thing to accuse anyone of, isn't it?

And that doesn't mean I'm in favor of outing. I'm not. I just don't care one way or the other, but I'm willing to bet most peeps cares much more whether their celebrity gods get outed than if Joe Blow the janitor does. I guess human rights aren't so equal after all.

Where are you drawing this from? Most people are simply saying that people have a right to privacy/it's a personal decision... that sounds like blanket statements that apply to all people to me not "kowtow"ing

I offered that I thought Daniel Craig was bi, not gay....the info comes from people who have worked with him, and told me....
and Falconfan....I am not outing these people, not calling the Enquirer, not obtaining Jodies private # and harassing her., not alerting Perez.....i 'm discussing a subjuct that someone asked a question about ,on a forum about celebrity gossip....

I used to work in Hollywood....I hear alot of good stuff....gossip,silliness sex stories (my pal slept with Michael Weiss-from the Pretender) I see celebs on the lot, see the stars at the gym etc....like another post said ,we all talk about straight stars too...

But that's the issue here. Outing. And there are magazines and bloggers that try to do just that and you're saying it's OK. And it's not OK. So what if someone's assistant told them once the did an undefined thing with someone of the same sex... can human beings not experiment with their sexuality? Why not only force a label on people who may be unsure of their own sexuality but go on to demand they announce that label to the world?

As stated many times before, I'm totally against outing celebs.
What pathetically empty lives some people have that they have to live theirs vicariously through those of celebs whom they'll probably never meet.
If every gay celeb came out today the slezoid gossip scavengers would be speculating about the remaining celebs tomorrow.
A pox upon Perez Hilton! He is ugly, fat and has no fashion sense with his mutant colored hair and clown clothes. He can't sing, act, dance or even write eloquently (I have read more enlightened and humorous pieces from many JUB contributors) and yet he can sit in judgement of talented people and ridicule them.
His follows/fans are perezites.

I'm drawing the statement from the hushed tones of reverence that people all over this forum make whenever talking about anyone famous, as well as the moral outrage expressed whenever such famous persons are felt to be violated.

After all, you'd never see a poll entitled "should your local postal worker be outed" draw any attention here, nor the attending moral outrage, would you?

Well that's because no one is outing your local postal worker. If someone was aggressively outing postal workers I'd be just as strongly against it... plus it is called the "celebrity" forum so it's bound to be filled with threads about celebrities.

Where are you drawing this from? As far as I know, blackmail and shaming takes place on all levels of society.

I'm basing this on the fact I've never turned on the TV, looked at a magazine, or seen an online blogger claiming that any random postal worker, police officer, store clerk etc is gay... I mean come on dude that's obviously what we're discussing "Outing." Just because when the topic of "outing" is brought up and people don't get defensive and say "People should blackmail their mailmen!!!" is far from proof that people here are in awe of the concept of celebrity

falconfan,..... aside from your oft stated and rigidly guarded opinion that an individual is the master of his/hers self (and the attendant opinion that every other individual is the same, and has a right to privacy , self disclosure etc,etc,etc)...

I get a feeling ,a drift in your posts, that, homosexuality is bad....and that to call a celebrity gay (right or wrong) is to demean them.....

you seem more attatched to the concept of the supposed inviolate rights of an individual, and how it supersedes other options....

I still say gay is good, and nudging a few famous people to be public with their lives, will eventually help the gay cause.....there is strength in numbers....

Gay is not bad. Gay is not good. Gay is just gay. There is no morality attached to it. Forcing someone who has not come to terms with there sexuality or has chosen to hide their sexuality for their own reason which may be perfectly valid IS bad. It's not going to turn out well. You're going to force them into an untrue denial and ultimately scandalize sexuality

falconfan....you didn't deign to address my last post.

Everyone here knows my position, and I've argued many many times for it, so I won't bother here.

I teach, and I constantly get 4th and 5th graders asking me if I'm gay and then giggling to their friends that I am- oh, the horrors, outed by a 10 year old- I work with it daily and somehow manage to go on with life...the entire staff knows and are cool with it...it's hard to feel sorry for celebs when people speculate about them when I encounter it every day- I guess all that money makes you incredibly thin skinned.

I agree with the above comment that this is a gossip page, no one's alerting the media, we're just having fun...me thinkst some of you protest too much, paging Dr. Fraud...

If the "the entire staff knows" than it's not exactly "outing" my friend its just 10 year olds being observant. That's different than publishing something in national media that your own parents may not even be aware of and may have tremendous fall out.

I don't know what you're talking about. I clearly addressed your last post I even quoted it.

no, actually you went into a graduate student type philosophical/linguistic obfuscation of gay.
