I collect English coins and have Spinks 2014 if you need a look up.
thanks! much appreciated

at the moment, I only have the one Edward I penny, but do intend to eventually add an Henry III penny, something from Elizabeth I with a halfway decent portrait, Henry VI groat

also, I've been looking at some of the silver of George II and George III; a Lima half crown's really caught my eye...and a decent Charles II 3 pence

Some questions regarding your collection of and interest in coins:

What led to your interest and how did you get started?

Are the coins displayed in cases or kept under lock and key and brought out periodically to admire and study?

Are there particular places and periods that are particularly interesting to you?

Do you travel to look at collections in museums? If so, what collections do you particularly admire?

There are coins that were and are minted to commemorate rather than circulate. Do you have any interest in these and do you also collect them?

Are there coins that are extraordinarily rare, coveted and expensive, such as the upside-down airplane postage stamp?

I gather you live in South Carolina. Did the Confederacy mint coins?

Are you amused or appalled when you see ancient coins used as cuff links?

Thank you for showing us pieces from your collection, particularly the Lepanto coin. Fascinating.

And finally: is the Bramante San Pietro commemorative coin extraordinarily rare? This one is from the British Museum:

Thanks!

I don't have any books on medieval coinage. I track down the attributions on the internet; many good sites out there; have 27 different sites for ancient and medieval coins saved in my favorites that I go to regularly...a good one for ancients is wildwinds.com
...there is a book I'd love to get; THE SILVER COINS OF MEDIEVAL FRANCE 476-1610 AD by James N. Roberts...it's out of print and used copies aren't cheap and aren't too easy to come by

I understand that a great deal of them went into circulation and were used as money. The piece that I posted is about the same size and weight as an Oord or 2 duits

NUMISMATIC WEBSITES FOR HISTORIANS

Numismatics is an essential study in archaeology and an interesting hobby for the historian. Over the years, I assembled and sold at auction a modest thematic collection of ancient Greek and Roman coins [nude or erotic theme]; a small type set collection of Roman coins as well as medieval English and Italian coins [one of each denomination for each time period of coinage]; and denominational sets for each type of foreign coin that circulated in America as legal tender from 1607-1857 [Dutch, Spanish, French, British, state-issued coppers, and early federal issues 1792-1892]. These endeavors required an extensive numismatic library before the internet. Now much of this information is available online. For those interested, here are some excellent websites=

The Romans taxed brothels by requiring clients to use tokens [spintriae] rather than coins bearing the likeness of the emperor. Regulation of brothels go back to Solon [594 BCE], the standard fee being one obol [one-sixth of a drachma]. For your viewing enjoyment, these spintriae from the first century-

I recently started to collect CDs, movies, and posters.
qInOY5s.jpg

I still need to buy more albums by Cannibal Corpse, George, Slayer, Metallica, one by Midnight, and Ariana's first two albums. And bands/artists I don't have yet: Possessed, Venom, Bathory, Patrick Cowley, Kreator, Celtic Frost, Macabre, Black Flag, Toxic Narcotic, GG Allin, and others.

The largest of the collection, I'm planning to buy all of Tarantino's films.

I loved DBZ as a teen, Jeff the Killer is a cute creepypasta, I'm a huge fan of GG Allin and Black Flag, Satanic Royalty came with the CD above, and I bought the poster as a "combo" with the DVD and CD at a flea market.

As you can see, the collection is pretty small, like I said, I barely started

My only hobby is books. I've started to try and find vintage copies of well known books. I've got a nice copy Tom Sawyer, a first edition Moby Dick and a first edition of Walden that's in excellent condition. Everything is packed away until I can do this:

I don't have any photos off hand but I collect and take apart and fix computers for fun. I also collect old cameras.
