Let's get the party started right!

All those who smoke & are proud shout out!

(all you evil ones who will post here, you can go ahead & suck it)

Smokers have rights too....as long as they smoke anywhere allowed. Anywhere where they can freely poison their lungs without affecting others.

It is a blessing that more and more states, cities and municipalities are jumping on the van wagon and prohibiting smoking in all public places. Restaurants, bars, clubs and 25 feet away from any building.

I smoke and I drink and do other adult activities. I always am discreet when I smoke, and when I drink....well...that's a different story.

I know where I can smoke, and where I can not. I usually smoke at home, or outside if I am visiting with friends.

I fully support your right to smoke.

But...as soon as I smell the smoke, you have taken away MY right to breathe air that does not contain the noxious chemicals and proven carcinogens which are present in secondhand smoke.

So, sure...smoke away.

Just don't exhale.

As I quit smoking last month, I can't put down those who are addicted to nicotine. I still think there should be designated smoking areas in restaurants, etc. Here in Massachusetts it is outlawed everywhere indoors now. They have even outlawed it outside in public places, like ball parks, city parks etc. When I visited Maine for the last few years it is even illegal to smoke in hotel and motel rooms. So there are no more smoking rooms there.

Quebec is turning non-smoking on May 31. I am an ex-smoker I used two smoke two packs a day, I am very glad I quit! I am also very happy that the province decided to go non smoking.

Smoking is unhealthy and some smokers can be rude.
My midddle aged sister is a smoker and we were recently at an upscale restaurant (and she was dressed to the nines).
She went out in the winter night to have a cigarette and some departing male customer spat at her feet.
Thankfully I wasn't there because I would have torn his fucking head off.
I'd like to see complete smoking cessation, but I wonder who's anxious to pick up the slack in the billions spent in taxes by smokers. Any volunteers?

Smokers surely have rights too... the right to smoke themselves to death OUT OF MY EFFIN' FACE.

It's kind of interesting how government has demonized "Big Tobacco" when they enjoy the lions share of the profits from tobacco sales (taxes). I do not smoke cigarettes, but enjoy a good cigar from time to time. Even cigarette smokers look down on cigar smokers.

It should be the decision of individual business owners as to whether they allow smoking in their establishments, not the governments. Smoking is an adult activity and everyone is (or should be) aware of the possible consequences of smoking. The evidence of the dangers of second hand smoke are inconclusive at best. If tobacco is so dangerous, why is it simply not outlawed? Because the governemnt makes too much money from it, that's why!

I also quit, too. I was a chain smoker all throughout high school. I have been clean for 3 years already. And yah, I support your cause that smokers have the right to smoke, too. But you should keep it mind that smoking is, ultimately, dangerous to anyone’s health.

I smoke and I always consider other people when I do so, even in my own home. I don't smoke where I'm not supposed to, and I don't force it upon people who do not appreciate it.

I don't have a car. I haven't had one in 20 years.

My smoking does not cause smog alert days in the summer. It does not cause hazes to form over cities or force people to stay indoors so they can breathe. It does not make entire cities disappear in clouds of pollution.

How far would I get trying to stop people to drive their precious cars because I don't like the smell of their exhausts?

If people aren't willing to give up their right to drive cars, then they have no right telling me to give up my right to smoke.

I am a "reformed" smoker...meaning that for all intents and purposes, I have quit smoking BUT I will ocassionally have a cigarette when I am having a cocktail in a bar. Here in Florida, smoking is banned in all public places UNLESS it is a "stand alone" structure that doesn't serve food. Most of the bars in my area fall under that exception so smoking is still allowed in many of the bars. As a reformed smoker, I think both sides need to be a little more respectful. I don't smoke ANYWHERE except in bars that allow it, not even in my own home or in my car. I respect that. By the same token, if it is allowed, non-smokers need to respect that too. If the establishment allows smoking, and you can't deal with it, don't patronize the place and stay away. It is tiresome to walk into the bars and listen to a handful of people complaining and bellyaching all night about the smoke when signs are CLEARLY posted on the front door that say "SMOKING IS PERMITTED ON THIS PROPERTY". Knowing that, if you can't deal with it...stay out and go somewhere else.

I love smoking, and I hate people who hate me for it.

1. If smoking were "outlawed" it would only create a black market for smokers and cigarettes.

2. The money "made" by the government thought taxation does not being to cover the costs incurred once the heath care system has to take over and try to save their... smoking citizens.

P.S. I love the overwhelming response from non-smokers, and agree with what many have stated. That being smokers have the right to smoke and kill themselves where ever they like, as long as it doesn't affect me or my lungs.

I knew some of you 'high n mighty' folks would turn this into a sermon. Hypocracy is more dangerous than my smoke. I simply asked for those fellow jubbers who do enjoy to smoke to allow their voices to be heard. But since some of you wish to treat the subject like the inquisition, some shy closet smokers now feel they cannot speak out for fear of ostrinization of their self rightious jub friends. Sounds like being gay in the heartland 20 years ago. If you dont like smoking, instead of clicking on the post reply button, click on the little 'x' in the top right corner of your screen first.

I considered your request. I chose not to comply.

Smokers can post their selfish replys if they'd like, no one is stopping them save themselves.

I don't see how non-smokers or ex-smokers can be classified as "high n mighty" when we are expressing our viewpoints, much like you.

Don't worry about that. Next month there is a new movie coming out: Smokeback Mountain.

I loved smoking. I stopped in March last year. I was a 40 a day boy for years. It just got to be such a pain in the ass to find somewhere to have a smoke and became so antisocial I thought I might as well stop. We had not smoked in our houde for 5 years and used to stand outside for one. It just stopped being pleasurable and became a chore. I still miss it from time to time. I am going to buy a packet of non tipped Camel and put them in the bottom of the deepfreeze for when I get to my 70th birthday as they will probably be illegal by then.
