Major turn off for me. Way back when we first started dating, hubby would puff one up once in a while. I told him that if we wanted to continue to date, the cigs would have to go. And they did.
Like all relationships, you have to compromise on certain things from time to time. The smoking wasn't going to be one of them.

Nothing worse than a reformed smoker - and I am a reformed smoker.

Haven't smoked (cigarettes) for decades - hate them with a passion.

Awful, obnoxious, smelly, off putting - personal opinion of course...;)

smoking one or two occasionally i don't mind, but as long as he doesn't do it in a car/house with me. i do have asthma and its bad enough to where i can't breath. last guy i was with smoked but he was really cool about not doing it too close to me. and his breath never smelled or tasted like cigarettes so it wasn't an issue.

e-cigs i wouldn't mind at all. it has no effect on me so he could do it whenever wherever. i tried an e-cig before and it pretty much fulfilled it promise. (tried blucig)

wish i could find someone who would be perfect in everything else and the smoking would be the last to bother me

I tried dating "Smokers" and to their credit they wouldnt smoke around me..But Candy can't "Mask' that burnt taste on their Tongue...Kissing is not "optional" when I'm seeing someone..I can Kiss all night long and not even Fuck...

So "Smoking" is a deal-breaker...

I said just heavy smoking is a turn off because 4 of my closest friends all are very heavy chainsmokers and I've been around it so much in my life I can sort of tolerate it to an extent. I don't think I could live full-time with a smoker, because it ruins furniture (with that nasty film off cigarettes) and you can't go anywhere after visiting a smoker's house without taking a shower... unless you too are a smoker.

I have very briefly dated a smoker and it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. So that's my vote... definitely not a chainsmoker like my friends, though, that would be impossible.

Smoking is a big dealbreaker for me but if I really liked him maybe I could bend my rules :)

Turnoff definitely. Seems much worse cause tobacco is bad enough, but cigarettes have all these chemicals added to it and it just leaves a sick feeling in me.

I kissed a guy once who is a smoker. Ugh I wanted to puke afterwards.

E-cigs guys maybe, maybe. As long as I don't smell or taste a combination of the chemicals under the bathroom cabinet.

kinda curious what you guys think of guys who smoke!

i smoke pretty lightly, like 2-4 cigs a day, and am trying to keep it to that as a maximum. mostly it's because some of my friends do. if i only hung out with non-smokers i'd probably quit pretty quickly

Quit it now that it's still easy to do.

I prefer non smoker, but I don't care very much always they keept their mouths clean

The smell is a total turn-off for me. I have yet to meet a "light smoker" who didn't smell, or have clothing (e.g. jacket) that didn't smell. Plus tobacco smoke irritates my sinuses and lungs.

Our roommate is a smoker, although not allowed to smoke in the house. He asked me once how I always knew it was him coming home when he didn't say anything - front door is on the ground floor, my room is in the basement. I had to tell him that I can actually *smell him* walking into the house. His winter jacket smells like an ashtray.

I would flat-out refuse to date (or have sex with) a tobacco smoker. Nothing personal, but you can shower, brush your teeth, and put on clean cloths, but the smell is still noticeable after a while.

yeah i think i will make it my new year resolution to quit. it was nice to do for a little bit but long term the downsides are obv way worse than the upsides. hopefully it wont be too hard since i havent been doing it long or heavily

ill still smoke weed tho, dont have any reason to give that up :P. it's a lot less bad and the smell doesn't linger like cigs

It's a deal breaker for me. I can't stand the smell and even just watching someone smoke disgusts me. I don't understand why anyone would even start smoking. With everything that is known about what it does to you and all why even start? I fully understand addiction (been clean over 3 years) and realize it's not easy to quit but starting is another story.

I seldom even go to the clubs or bars because I hate coming home and having to de smoke myself. Have to take a shower right away and wash my clothes so I don't stink up my house. Yuck. Wish they would make the clubs smoke free like the restaurants.

Sorry, smoking is a deal-breaker for me, for many of the reasons people have listed already. However I think I could possibly date a guy who uses e-cigs based on the description Sultan gave.

Wow! I find that so surprising! I could be wrong but here in Vancouver no one is allowed to smoke in clubs or bars that I know of. I always see people going outside to do that, so I am 99% sure it's illegal. I guess that's not the way it is in ATL. I just kind of assumed you couldn't smoke in most places indoors.

God, I wish. In some areas smoking is still permitted in restaurants. My bf. and I went to Alabama and were surprised to find it full of smoke. It varies by the state and even city. There are ordinances banning in some places but some don't have anything against it at all. It's worse in the south especially in the tobacco growing areas.

In NY, smoking isn't allowed in bars or resturants. You don't realize how good that is until you go to other states and can't eat your food because someone's cigarette smoke is in your face.
