So Snowden 'releases' information (6 years after it is first reported) that there is a meta data base of telephone surveillance in the US.

Russia has just granted him asylum.

Is the guy just some pathetic nerd who thinks he is a Bond spy or is he an elaborate plant?

Seeing as how our Government has so many double standards regarding the rules between US, and THEM, I guess I kind of assumed THEY wouldn't have been included in the data collecting. ... but I guess that would give them credit for being smarter than they are.

Everything we're hearing is fourth-hand and at least 48 hours (or way more) out of date. So I don't trust the information enough to form any conclusions.

The "latest" is that Russia's Putin says Snowden is in a transit area of an airport in Moscow and hasn't technically entered the country.
Putin also was clear that he doesn't think Snowden has committed any real crime and isn't going to do anything.

He is travelling on a refugee document from Ecuador which is apparently where he is headed.
