The term "admin" is confusing....Meanwhile the admins are still ignoring me.
There's a group of moderators who have "JUB admin" titles (like me). We manage the forum settings and also moderate the forums. We don't manage the web services or any of the technical aspects of the site.
The web team manages the web services and technical aspects of JUB. We sometimes refer to them as the "site admins". They're the ones who are trouble-shooting the issues with Cloudflare (which seem to have gotten better recently). Don't assume the web team reads the forum. That's not their job.
... I turned them off soon after joining as well. I mighta even still been on dial-up back then (if not, it was the slowest DSL option available), so did little things like that so pages would load faster...plus I did find some of them annoying too.![]()
We still have members who are on slow connections, particularly older members and members who live in rural areas or who live outside the US, Canada, Australia and the UK. We also have members who have older computers. Animated gifs are a pain in the ass for these members.
We've had complaints and several of the people who had animated gifs in their signatures have fixed the issue which is appreciated. No one asked us about the reason for the notice about the signature policy (which has been the same for over 10 years).
During the past 10 years, most members have respected the rules and have been considerate of other members who are on slower computers and slower connections. It was rare that we ever had to contact anyone about their signature. It's only been recently that we've seen oversized animated gifs in signatures or multiple animated gifs in signatures.
Images in your signature: You are allowed to include images in your signature. Regular members can have .jpg, .png or non-animated .gifs in their signature. JUB supporters are allowed to have animated gifs. If you are not a JUB supporter, we will remove any animated gifs from your signature.
There are also restrictions on the image size. These boxes illustrate the maximum allowable sizes for signature files:
Code:
Regular Member JUB Supporter
Maximum number of characters in signature: 250 1000
Maximum lines in signature: 3 10
Maximum images in signature 5 10
Video allowed in signature: No Yes!
Can have animated gif in signature: No Yes!
Max image size: 480 by 60 pixels 500 by 120 pixels
JUB Supporter status is only $30 and it's good for 10 years! And you can also purchase Supporter status as a gift for another member.
