Dreu
Let me start off by saying that I know very little about religion. Even my own.
What I do know are human beings. And I know a lot about being stubborn and going against what professionals tell you.
Your doctor is telling you that you need to gain weight to be healthy. And his comment about putting you in the hospital to feed you intraveniously is him doing his job. Your therapist is also doing her job.
And you should be listening to them. But if you choose not to, I think that you should look at things from a different angle. If you allow yourself to fast and possibly die doing so, who is going to step up and teach the intricate nature of your religion to all of those who don't know it? Who is going to fight for the treatment of Muslims to be fair if you aren't around?
And who is Mitri going to turn to when his big brother isn't there to help?
Sorry for the harshness. But that's my 2 cents.
Your strength is getting the best of you now Dreu. Don't let it. You know what the right thing to do is. And I don't think it's fasting when you are in the state of health you are currently in.

there are exemptions and they seem to be for the reasons you mention
but i will have to feed one poor person for every day that i dont fast and i will have to make the days up if i ever recover
this also means that i will not be exempt from the other aspects of the fast that are not related to food and to water
and... i will miss the opportunity to find forgiveness... and for me that is the most important thing right now
i have sent an email to a Muslim friend that i respect alot based on the feedback you have all given me and i am waiting to hear his perspective
