  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

So looks like The Last Airbender is sh!t

Ok, that movie was the biggest disappointment I've ever experienced in a movie. And I am officially done with Shamalamadingdong.

Quick highlights of terrible:

1. saying stuff that happened in season two instead of season one
2. messing up the pronunciation of most of the names
3. characters looking nothing like the anime version.
4. fire benders can't manifest fire, they have to use fire around them to bend instead...... See More

I HATE HIM SO MUCH FOR RUINING THIS FOR ME!

He couldn't even get the basic principles of bending right?!

How does he keep getting work??!?!

I had a feeling that M Night was going to shit all over it. The general response has been that it sucked from both fans and critics alike.

Reelz did a fan reaction video for the first crowd of people who went to see it and there is no love.lol

Roger Ebert put it as simply as he could, calling the film “an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented. The laws of chance suggest that something should have gone right. Not here.”

A. O. Scott at the New York Times said, “Mr. Shyamalan’s attempt to conjure a realm of myth and adventure out of special effects and long expository speeches might serve as a textbook chapter on How to Do It Wrong.” He also, like Mr. Ebert, hoped that the promise of a sequel proposed in the last few minutes of the film will never come to fruition.

^Huh? OH! That was a cover with MNS? I was more focused on the picture of the hamburger. It seemed to have accomplished more with its talents.
I was interested in seeing what he had to say for himself:

Counter-counter arguments, anyone?
Poor Cabbage merchant.

If anyone has seen it, why do the reviews keep mentioning the names being fucked up?! What do they call Aang?!?!?!

Those 10 year olds are the ones that are most upset. They're the dedicated fans of the show who saw their cherished cartoon turned into trash.

I mean.. not even pronouncing the main character's name correctly? Why???

If anyone has seen it, why do the reviews keep mentioning the names being fucked up?! What do they call Aang?!?!?!

One of the links in my last post (the middle one) speaks to that. I personally think he is hypocritical for citing that as a reason in light of the casting and other culture distorting liberties he took, but ah well.
I've refused to see that movie, or any of the ones slated to come after (trilogy), so I can't really mount a counter-counter argument. There's got to be one though, we can't let him get away!!!!

They called Aang, AHNG. They called Sokka, Soaka. They called Iroh, Eroh. Avatar, AHvatar. Jumbled mess it was...

Thank you so much for those links wenchine. Shamalalala is so full of shit. But whatever he fucked up the chance to make an INCREDIBLE motion triology based on an amazing so close to anime style but made in america. Like teen titans.

But damn kids, adults, a lot of people respect the show because it's not a bunch of overpowered asians firing kamehameha's out of their ass or "MY POWER LEVEL IS HIGHER THAN YOUR'S". The way they actually do the bending and fighting is based off real forms of different martial arts, taijutsu or whatever the technical term is. I respect that about the show greatly. It deals a lot with asian culture and buddhism as well in a light hearted way that people can relate to and understand. It has a great story as well and great characters.

I cannot believe that the bastard Shamalalaa took the emotion out of Aang. HE IS A FREE SPIRIT. Wow. Me and my co-workers actually watch avatar on nicktoons during out break. And they are very much older than me. It's amazing at how epic the harry potter series has become. I bet Shamamalala was aiming to be as epic as harry potter yet be so diverse people go, "Oh I love shamaallaa he is so diverse and understanding he is such a diplmot" HE DESERVES THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. Because of course anyone can get that now.

I heard what this movie is good for is the effects and visuals. I heard that the 3D is shit except for the end credits though. I think it's a mistake to try to put the entire first book into one movie. The way everything unfolds and is told is perfect in the series. I knew it would be a disaster trying to rush it from the start.

But take out the ethnicity of the actors, take out the emotion, rush the story, focus on the effects and do a gimmick 3D.

You better damn well not call it Avatar. That is one thing I'm thankful of. This movie is called "The Last Airbender". Whether that was shamalala's dumb luck of "OH I don't want people to confuse me with james cameron" (Not that that's gonna happen) he at least separated his movie from the series even though it was just in the name.

That is something at least. I really had high expectations for this movie but I don't know why. I was so wanting to see the siege of the north done in live action form as well.

Money saved.

I just wish Avatar had a capable director like for the HP movies. That way we may have gotten more than 3 movies out of it and it had not been rushed . Two movies per book would have been perfect. But Shama doesn't know how to cast or do anything so it's pretty much a waste of breath. Sigh...the potential is had :(
