Soccer World Cup 2010

^ i noticed that, too. after uruguay scored, for the first time it was silent ..

WOWOWOWOWOWO

I was right for Honduras / CHile

But what a shock !! Spain LOST !!! damn I bet this world cup is gonna be full of surprises...

and good game uruguay... sad to see SA loose... now let's see whats france is gonna do ... they better score against mexico or else... they're screwed

Predictions:

Greece 1 - 1 Nigeria

Argentina 2 - 1 North Korea

France 1 - 2 Mexico
(yeah we loose... :()

So much excitement for tomorrow's games!!

I'm really looking forward to see Chile in action, they performed terribly well during the qualifiers, and they have a very capable coach, the Argentine Bielsa. Chile is the big favorite against Honduras.

Then we have Spain playing. Many people agree that Spain is one of the favorites to the World Cup this time. Even though I have to say that they always say the same about Spain and every time it's a disappointment. Let's see if it works in this one.

And last but not least, we have South Africa vs Uruguay. Second round of matches starting, in a very even group (everyone drew), no team can lose this time cos that could mean a very likely elimination in this first round. The locals will be playing my beloved Uruguay. Probably SA will be the favorite for being the host, but Uruguay has always been famous for spoiling host's parties... Besides, Uruguay has played much better as a visitor than as a host during the qualifiers. Anyway, I think it's impossible to forecast a result for this match, and it's also impossible to forecast which 2 teams will go through and which 2 will go home in this which I consider to be the tightest group of all.

Let the fun continue!!
Viva The World Cup!

Wow! I don't want to brag or anything, but being that I'm not good with predictions, this time I was dead right in today's results. I said Chile was favorite, that Spain was usually a disappointment in the WC (even though they say Spain played well - I didn't see the match), and Uruguay is a specialist in ruining hosts' parties.

I don't wanna predict again now, cos I don't know if I could ever be as accurate again :P Anyway, I can see that Argentina is going to win easily, France vs Mexico is going to be very tight and even (I can't say who's gonna win, but probably France is the favorite in this one), and I have no idea about Nigeria vs Greece, but I'd say Nigeria could be superior.

Being Uruguayan myself I wanted Uruguay to win, but I have to say that I also wanted SA to do well in this WC. So now I hope that they can win against France in the last match!! I'll be going for SA for sure in that game

Well Uruguay = 3 South Africa = 0 in Pretoria tonight - Oh sometimes they call the city Tshwane these days.

They have France to play next. I am sure France will beat the shit out of the SA team, then we should not have to hear / or see them or their vuvuselas again.
(!) :=D:

VERY POOR SHOW AND BAD MANNERS
When it appeared that the SA team were going to lose, all the vuvus stopped playing and the fans walked out en-masse before the end of the game. Very poor hosting and also very poor sportmanship
.

+ 1

Awful hosts.

Predictions:

Greece 1 - 1 Nigeria

Argentina 2 - 1 North Korea

France 1 - 2 Mexico

Argentina and South Korea.

France revives against Mexico.
No comparision with the poor performance last week.

Difficult to call all around.

Nigeria should take Greece, who looked out of ideas against South Korea last week.

Argentina should take South Korea, given the depth of the Argentine squad, but Spain should have easily taken .ch yesterday, so...

France-Mexico is probably pick of the day's games. I like Mexico, I like France, but in order for .za to have a hope in hell we need this game to be a draw. I think it will go France 1-0 Mexico.

As for last night's game... well, we see it in club football all the time. 10 or 15 minutes on the clock and your team getting pumped, people leave to beat the traffic home. No point in having a miserable night watching your guys lose and then still sitting in a queue for a bus/train or stuck in gridlock for 3 hours from 10:30pm with all of us having to work today.

What did you guys think of the red card? Surely if it was a penalty it had to be a red card - you can only give the penalty if it's a goal-scoring opportunity, and if the player is through on goal (basically 1-on-1 with the keeper) and is fouled it is a straight red, according to the rules. Even though the contact was minor, the slo-mo replay shows definite contact so... I don't think we have too much to complain about, if I'm honest. Then again, I am pretty black and white kinda guy.

About leaving before the end of the match, that happens everywhere, at least here in South America. I don't think it's being a terrible host.

About the red car, it's a very subtle contact between the goalkeeper and the striker, but it is foul and it is a red card. The problem is the brasilian coach Parreira, we know him well in South America, he's terribly capable, but he's used to whining all the time, blaming it on the referees instead of himself. Parreira was terribly defensive. His team was losing 1-0 and he didn't risk putting another forward, he was very conservative all the time

^ blaming it on the referee is usually done just to distract from the real problems. even when the card is debatable.
and well in this case .. i am sorry, SA was playing very poorly.

The Spanish loss made me laugh
