Soccer World Cup 2010

You all left me alone in this one

Even Ekim! :gogirl:

Anyway, Uruguay has showed that it performs better with a crowded stadium cheering against them, so I think all of this is positive.

By the way, I heard that Mick Jagger went to a bunch of matches, and every team he was rooting for, lost. USA vs Ghana, Eng-Ger, Bra-Neth (he was rooting for Brazil), & Arg-Ger (he was rooting for Arg). He attended all those matches! Ekim, why don't you try singing in a rock band? I find too many similarities between you two ;)

Go celeste today!!!!

OK, I'm going to squeeze some oranges, I feel like orange juice today

Do I need to say anything else? LOL!

Me and my friend decided to see who would win against Holland and Uruguay by playing them in Fifa world cup! He won with Uruguay :(, so according to that Uruguay will win. Rooster Teeth also did a fifa mock up between the two and came up with Uruguay winning 5-4. It'd be nice for the match to be like that but I think it'll be a 2-0 win for the Dutch.

If you want to see Uruguay win 5-4 you can watch it here: http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=1373

Bah Im sorry but I'm rooting for Uruguay so they might loose...

ANd I want spain to go the final !!!! Sorry for La Furia fans

That was against Argentina. 1974 was against (West) Germany.

Wahey! Great result!
Perhaps one of my teams will get it right this year since the Gunners and Barca didnt...

-d-
Ps: posting via cellphone is not fun!

Fair enough, first I was blaming it on the refs, then I blamed it on the player's exhaustion and the lack of key players, then I blamed it on our rivals, they have a great team...

But now I know who to blame! Admit it, you have super-powers. Or anti-powers, I don't know how to define it.

Anyway, I had fun this WC, I'll be happy now with a 3rd place. I'm rooting for Germany now only because I'll find a Uy-Spain more entertaining than a Ger-Uy one (I just don't want to receive 4 goals, that's all...).

And I think I'll become Dutch for the finals, they deserve it

fed, I think Uruguay can defeat Germany for third place. ;)

Just finished watching the match, and w0w! what a match is was, right up to the final whistle!

Uruguay can be proud of themselves. They played an excellent match and never, never gave up. Congratulations on a match well played! :=D:

And congratulations to Netherlands also! :=D:

If you are like me and were upset that Dunga did not pic Ronaldhino for the team you will be interested in the this article. I hate the fact that Brazil had to lose for Dunga's mistake(s) to be realized.

A very good article. Thanks.

When I read that Ronaldinho was not in the Seleção, I thought it must be some kind of mistake; I must have read it wrong... Dunga wouldn't skip over the double World Player of the Year.

Well, it turns out that it was a mistake, but the mistake was not mine.

A good paragraph from the article says:
«To a tidal wave of domestic criticism, Dunga saw fit to exclude a number of attacking options from his squad for South Africa. There was no place for internationally recognised stars like Ronaldinho, Diego, Adriano and Alexandre Pato. Additionally, an up-and-coming generation of fine young potential stars were also overlooked.»
What was Dunga thinking? Did he think that Brazil has so much attacking talent that it would just take care of itself and he could focus on defense?

When it comes to attacking talent, Brazil has an embarrassment of riches. With so many to choose from, sadly someone would have to stay home. But why exclude the best of the best???

A Brazilian or someone who follows the game more than me can say more, but from what I've read Dunga is not a fan of the flashier, attacking style. He wanted Brazil to be more measured, take fewer chances. In that way a goal or two would be sufficient for wins. I have also read that he thought some of the players he left off the team lacked the willingness to play his more structured game.

But as we now know his game plan/style did not have a strategy for when his defense broke down. Very sad really that a coach would be responsible for holding back what is surely the best collection of talent. I didn't say the best team, but best talent.

I can tell you this - Phil Jackson would never leave LeBron James off a team much less Kobe.

Maybe the players who weren't willing to play Dunga's more structured style knew a little more about it than Dunga.

Looks like they might have been right.

And now that I think about it, maybe it's not so bad that Ronaldinho and the others were left out. Now they don't have to share in the shame of defeat.

I do feel sorry for the ones who tried to be what Dunga wanted... beautiful magical unicorns harnessed and hitched to a plow. :(

I'm very proud or Uruguay too. And the Netherlands are amazing. Maybe not as impressive as the Germans, but haven't lost a match since 2008, and are the only ones to have won every single game in this WC.

I'd rather see Spain winning, so I hope the octopus is right! In that case I'd be happy to defeat the Germans. But I also want to see a Uruguay-Spain game, what a shame it won't be in the finals..

About Ronaldinho, why so much fuss about him if he was a disappointment in 2006? And Brazil strikers were really good too, Luis Fabiano and Ka-ka et al are amazing
