Speaker Pelosi's press conference

Yeah Obama has to be pretty pissed at Speaker Pelosi right now.

She's making a fool of herself and put a spotlight on something he wanted ignored.

If either of them had any integrity this wouldn't be happening; instead there'd be a full investigation into the shameful torture practices of the Bush era.

What a group.

Tough for him if he's pissed -- there needs to be a spotlight.

Let a thousand spotlights bloom! Letting stuff like the Cheney cabal did go uncovered leaves it lying like dry rot on the foundation of the Republic: it may be hidden, covered for now with paint, but the rot spreads and steadily weakens the base until a day when things collapse.

Rome failed from such rot, from the tradeoffs of power that let corruption accumulate and fester until the filth could not be contained.

Rome is, of course, not the only instance and during the recent Primaries I began to realize the United States will be the instance we witness. As I wrote at the time, Obama will be elected as Change but will in fact be a continuation of Bush. Carter was change from Nixon/Ford, Reagan was change from Carter, Clinton was change from Reagan/Bush, Bush was change from Clinton. But Obama, whose primary marketing chant was Change, is a continuation of Bush.

What's amazed me is how, and the extent to which, the People are complicit. Obama was elected because the People saw something about themselves in Obama and they felt comfortable with the familiarity, and that something is corruption.

Yes, tough fucking shit. The Speaker of the US House doesn't report to the President -- they aren't employees of the Executive, they have their own gig.

:=D: :=D: :=D:

Damn, you're good when you're not slithering in the slime! ..|

Careful -- put the mask back; they'll know who you are!

That's fine except that Pelosi isn't accomplishing anything constructive with this ridiculous outburst.

She should either force a full investigation into Bush era torture or shut the fuck up. She's doing this to try to Windex her own image, not for any reason that benefits the People whose interests she's supposed to represent.

Let's see... YOU bitterly penned that Speaker Pelosi "practically had a nervous breakdown," that "she's so over her head" and her "judgement sucks egss" [sic] and is "a liar to boot," and that The Man "has NO use for her."

But you LOVED her pearls.

Please, stop - just stop with your misogynism. It's so ugly, so vile, so very, very, vile.

But I'll pray for you.

i do love her pearls - they're her signature really

too bad the rest of her "game" isn't up to snuff

she's an embarrassment

don't ask me

ask her colleagues or the white house

wonder how this is gonna work out now

she will be forced to testify now

and will be proven to be ...........

either very dumb
or
a liar

take ur pick sweet pea

as for misogyny

u own that space

as everyone here knows

she's an embarrassment

The only people, I've heard this from, is the Repugs.

It seems strange that the Repugs are calling for the truth.

The truth will set you free!

The Bushies should be brought to trial for their war crimes.

And that's the truth.

Sorry, Chance 1, I don't even like the pearls, unless they are used to yank her out of the Capitol and totally out of Washington DC. She is an embarrassment to our government, and surely to the Democratic Party. Obama would be much better off without her and that mouth of hers. I only wish the Dems would be as quick to rid themselves of her, as Congress was to vote in the the hallowed stimulus bill.

I've been a Democrat for many many years and I know Nancy Pelosi is an embarrassment.

She's deceitful, she's a bully, she's untrustworthy and she's not very good at crafting legislation.

But I also agree with Chance that those are some damn fine pearls. ;)

spinning?

she practically had a nervous breakdown at her press conference

did you watch it?

this is the LEADER of the house?

she's so over her head

her judgement sucks egss

and she's a liar to boot

i'm sure pres. obama has NO use for her or her senate alter ego harry reid

i like her pearls though

Was Bush over his head as president?

Only Hillary Clinton can be subjected to misogyny cause when John McCain suggested that his wife Cindy enter a wet t-shirt contest, none of those PMSing gay men said anything.

^ come back GENERAL

not sure who this newbie is

but he's making you look bad

Was Bush over his head as president?

I think history will prove GWB to be an average President in a particularly difficult time

the american public elected him 2x

but he is ..................... old news

rear view mirror LL

so move on why dontcha

calling him this/that and the other thing is a wonderful distraction but serve no purpose

speaker pelosi on the other hand has a kinda important gig right now

and is frankly over her skis

and her press conf meltdown was evidence of that - but it's not as if prior to that she was inspiring confidence

i love her us/them stuff - a real leader

not

That's ridiculous. Obama is going to be a substantial change from Bush. On energy, on health care, on taxes, on foreign policy, and on a bunch of other things.

We've already seen the beginnings of it.

I agree that a few of Bush's failure's Obama has since continued, but to say he is no different is absurd. By the end of his first term, I think things are going to look very different from now.

In the ways he is Change, Obama will not make things better.

How do you think our tax situation will improve?

Obama will not get us out of Iraq in the time he promised, and we will be in Afghanistan much longer than they're saying. Other foreign policy, what will be improved from Bush?

The economic stimulus and financial services bailouts will not in the long run help the economy become healthy.

The healthcare Obama gets through, I predict, may change the problems but will not result in a state of the art more cost efficient system. Obama is lying about the cost cuts that pharma and insurance and the healthcare industry is willing to make and that American citizens will see in their pocketbook. It's going to cost people who pay for it more and what we get for it will not be improved. (It COULD be improved and cost could come down, but it won't with Obama and Pelosi controlling the legislation.)

Our debt is going to be through the roof and Obama will not cut deficits in half as he promised. There'll be tons of excuses and his supporters will protect and defend him.

DOMA will remain. DADT might change because Obama will need more bodies in the military, but he will not use the opportunity to make the military a truly equal opportunity place for gays.

I know what's going to happen because I figured out who Obama is (and Pelosi too). I don't know what the other elements will bring so maybe my predictions will not be spot-on, but as events have already shown, I get it darned close.

Obama is no change from Bush. I don't mean ideologically. Obviously Bush was a Republican and Obama's a Democrat. But they both are unprincipled and untrustworthy, so even though Bush's lean tended right and Obama's tend left, in the end their choices, their decisions are not based on ideology, they're based in their narcissism and personal ambition, all their choices are based in decision making that's about them and not us or the greater good, and in that way Bush and Obama are very similar. It's fascinating, really, because they're men from completely different backgrounds so the specifics, the details, of their wanting is different, but the want is the same. The American people elected the same kind of man after Bush had fooled us and screwed us, and they're getting fooled and screwed again -- only from the other side.

I'm guessing democrats will stop talking about GWB when republicans stop talking about Jimmy Carter. ;)

Yes, things will look very different: we're going to be another $3 trillion in debt.

No, little black doggie, don't put your head in the white dog's mouth! Don't do it!

What I say; people believe. What I do: is very important. What I say and do, is MY BUSINESS.

I mean; did I really see and hear that briefing on that waterboa…..waterboar….wwwwww.. …that silly water thing?

Noooooo, wasn’t possible! I am a liberal woman! I am smarter than every single one of my fellow Americans! I am from the Bay area!
They’re all imaging this. In fact, this is all Bush’s fault. HE’s the one who instructed the CIA to lie to ME! Poppy Bush helped I’m sure. Wait, it’s bigger than that; it didn’t happen, and Bush forced the CIA to use that confusion serum they have on everyone at that briefing. That’s it!

I know they have that serum. That’s a briefing I do remember. They said it was used successfully at the ‘88 Democratic National Convention when Dukakis was nominated. Willy Horton my…
