Lou Dobbs is a racist asshole.

By the way, why is that almost all talking head Republican haters, are all obese, white guys?

Bill O, Limbaugh, Beck, Dobbs, Michael Savage...etc.

How do we jump from Dobbs making some inflamatory statements to Dobbs being racist? Can you explain?

I would be most grateful not to see so many of those idiotic Geico spots. They are truly annoying.

I kinda like the Geico spots

and it's their right to pull from whatever program/network they want

I wonder if they run on "Countdown"

If they do then it reflects a management that is clearly biased

If they do then they can kiss my Irish ass :)

as for Glenn Beck

he does at times look like he needs a str8 jacket

I actually thought that on Headline News he was decent

On Fox he is more of a cartoon character

He is a Rush wannabe IMO - and a bad one at that

He is nothing like Bill O'Reilly - who has intelligent debate on his show - and other than selling his books/mugs, does not do schtick

I love how the mugs on JUB group so many folks together - erroneously

It suggests that they don't actually watch them - save for a YouTube clip

It suggests that the mugs are soooooooooo full of themselves - which we know they are

They're soooooooooo smart

these mugs

I find it interesting that a very big thing these days is dems/liberals trying to silence opposition - in real life - not on JUB where it is commonplace

In that way, they are very much like Nazis

sorry but the truth hurts

^ Stop rottting your brain -- stop watching the idiot box. It's truly unhealthy.

stop commenting on shit u don't watch

that's idiocy

or conceit

or something

none of them good

I hear you got evicted from Rhode Island ?? ;)

Huh?

And I heard you left a ring around the beach. :sex:

Look, if you want to watch teevee, watch teevee. I myself find it boring and juvenile,. and that's not "conceit," it's a matter of pref, hon, a matter of pref.

by all means don't watch tv

advertisers don't really want to reach your demo anyway ;)

cranky know it alls that is

make that mysogynistic cranky know it alls

J/K sweetie :-)

BUT

my point is not to not watch TV

but to not comment on those who are on TV

cuz i don't think u can physically do both

and be honest that is

just saying

I honestly think those quotes speak for themselves. Through such statements, he has rhetorically and metaphorically raised the spector of armed conflict against the elected representatives of the United States. The zealousness with which he reports is inspiring to people easily motivated to commit violent acts. You don't see the same anger or negative fierceness coming from such polarizing liberal figures as Rachel Maddow. At this level, it isn't the ideology I am referencing or criticizing here. It's the methods.

No offense, but have you seen his show? (I watched all of 5 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore)

90% of the time when he says crap like that its tongue in cheek. The best way to describe it is as Keith Olbermann on steroids, with very little seriousness.

Moreover, those quotes do not indicate the need for, nor do they call for, violence. The first one is quite obviously referencing a vampire; what do you do to stop a vampire? Drive a stake through their heart. With so little context its impossible to tell what he was talking about, and whether it was embedded in a greater piece where vampires or the undead or something of that nature was a part of it. Most definitely a poor choice of words, but not exactly saying 'kill the motherfuckers' either.

The second one is, again, not really clearly calling for any violence. Take back America? That could mean any number of things. Again, a poor choice of words (since it could be misconstrued) but context here is important. Your reference to armed conflict is also not present in the skit he puts on (and skit is being generous). You're inferring something that isn't there. I'm assuming you got this from Bob Cesca's website, which is putting some imaginary context to the quote that isn't there. (and Cesca himself is less than reliable speaking on issues involving the right)

For those that did not hear, Glenn Beck was apparently caught crying again. I guess he had to time this little outburst to offset the negative news of several sponsors, including Geico, dropping him but here is the segment for those that have not seen it. He's comparing the proposed Health Care reform to Nazi Germany.

](*,)](*,)](*,)

I'm ashamed that Glenn Beck is being associated with conservatives.

Well, he is one. The thing is if this man doesn't represent your beliefs accurately, I would reevaluate what exactly you believe based on other talking heads from FOX. He's always been a loon. So did you just realize it now? Or has he finally beaten the racist drum loud enough? I mean it's been there for a very long time, as many of us have pointed out.

I'm not going to reevaluate what I believe based on some entertainers. They don't represent me, and they don't represent what I actually believe. They're the equivalent of the far left; they don't represent mainstream conservative views, and they certainly don't represent me.

To be perfectly clear, I've never liked Beck or O'Reilly. They're too shrill and too, well, post-menstrual.

^ Plus it's a lie. These "entertainers" well represent today's "conservative" crowd. That they now, and for today, seek to distance themselves is 'thad, so very 'thad.

They represent nothing. They are a fringe, like Olbermann and Air America. These men and women neither espouse, nor have a great knowledge of, conservatism. They have a shtick that makes them money, and they stick to it.

^ Oh, that's REAL CLOSE to death threats. It's amazing how you defend Beck and Limbaugh and Savage. I guess the right always takes care of their ideological soul-mates -- their "family," as it were.

I'm not defending them. I'm proving that the entertainers on the left are no better.

:=D:

You know, it's impossible to convince extremists that they are crazy -- I stopped trying.

I suspect violence will erupt and the feds will need to rough-up and round-up the wingnuts. No prob -- we can construct vast outdoor detention centers -- FEMA can handle that. Let the wingnuts stew in the summer sun and cool their jets as they rot in federal prisons. They have only themselves to blame! We tried warning them! We tried reasoning with them!

What I most look forward to is denying the wingnuts the very things they loved denying to regular prisoners -- you know, like decent food? And lawyers? And television? Television! How will the wingnuts communicate without television and radio? I guess they'll all have to learn how to read! Vast Challenge, but I see no reason why tax
dollars should be spent educating insurrectionists, do you?

I'm afraid that news of "the camps" has gotten out. Nevertheless I'm signing up for camp guard, I'll do it for free and for the good of the country.

We'll put them in pink suits and take them out to work on the road gang. I'll whip them when they don't work hard but they'll probably like it.

Conservatives push conspiracy theory that Obama recruiting for "internment camps" for U.S. citizens

I'm not comfortable with organized boycotts of commentators for their speech. For one thing, it is mostly the left that is the target of boycotts. The Dixie Chicks being the most recent example. Also, think of the grief Linda Rhonstadt got for dedicating a song to Michael Moore before the 2004 elections. She got fired from her gig in Las Vegas.

The main problem is the utter vacuousness and lack of serious content in television news. It does a disservice to our democracy The New York Times reported, prior to the vote on Obama's stimulus package, on a survey of the news it conducted. It found that of all the news coverage of the stimulus package, only a minuscule percentage of on air time was devoted to interviews or commentary by economists. I don't remember what the percentage was, but it was tiny. Whether or not you agree with the stimulus legislation, I think everyone can agree that it was journalistic malpractice on the part of the MSM to exclude the voices of economists in its coverage.

With regard to the original thread i.e. should advertisers give Beck a wide berth? I voted yes, but I would rather they botcotted the whole channel, not just the most rabid corners of the schedule.

I get the Fox News channel here in England and watching Glenn Beck is such a bizarre experience. I find it hard to watch more than five minutes of his nonsensical ramblings. He goes beyond wrong. He is scary. For all his likening Obama's reforms to what the Nazis did, it is he and his ilk who are most likely to be the ones inciting violence.

The constant drip, drip of hateful propaganda, lies and misinformation really does remind me of the kind of broadcasting which led to the genocide in Rwanda. (I know that seems like an extreme comparison, but crazy people don't need that much pushing to have them reaching for the machetes).

:=D: :=D: :=D: :=D: :=D: Amen!

The same could be said about most of the major issues this country is facing. The media now relies on partisan hacks for their "facts". It's all about the "Democrats say this... but the Republicans say this..." There's virtually no independent research and reporting.

as many liberal/left wing "entertainers" perhaps more than right wing

just not as famous or infamous

or not as "entertaining"

ur level of bleating

and that of ur ilk

suggest a level of excessiveness

which is fantasy

and more so IMO describes u ........... not them

watch any good tv today? ;)

yes - by all means let's boycott the entire channel - pull all the ads

why? because we don't advocate speech that is ................. different from MINE

good fucking god

rwanda? what the fuck

get a grip and post again is my suggestion

as for noah and others

it's as if you think you have a monopoly on valuable thought

that those who don't agree whether they're well informed or not - are somehow controlled, incapable or not worthy of opinion

JUB is a mess

but i love it nonetheless

where else can an average intellect appear sooooooooooo fucking reasonable

only on JUB
