  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

SPORTS! Which do you play or enjoy?

i don't watch any sports on TV since i don't watch TV at all.
I did download all the WRC stages though and had fun watching them. :)

the sports i do:

Mountain BIking cross country ( quit racing about 5 years ago).
road biking
running, road and trail ( still race a bit for fun, it's a good motivator to train better).
cross country skiing, both classic and skating style.

oh and going to the gym of course.

and that's enough for me. I try to allow 8-10 hours/week for sport.

i love rugby and cricket tried to watch a game of nfl the other day and being from australia that game is one of the most boring sports i have ever watched very slow!!

I play hoops at the "Y" every week and this year I joined a flag football league. Sports have always played a big part in my life starting in high school and continuing throughout college.

I'm originally from Boston so I'm a Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, Revolution and BC fan.

Some of my friends think I spend too much time watching sports. It's a great diversion for me.

I'm really worried about the Pats game this afternoon at Cincy. Hopefully, Brady will have a good game. If not, I'll share my frustrations on the message boards of the Boston Globe.

FOOTBALL! But since I won't enjoy watching my favorite team (49er's) lose every week I will be watching BASKETBALL. The Sacramento Kings are my team.;)

i grew up playing hockey, soccer, football, and cycling.
my adult life has brought out my passion for skiing, rowing, and motorbike riding/crashing.
i actually hate watching on tv...it too boring to watch when its sooooooooooo much fun actually doing it yourself.

I have heard that Canadian boys always fuck Doggie style.....so they can both watch the hockey game.

My parents weren't jocks. So I didn't do much until I got out of the house.

Do:
Hockey. Started at 32 as a forward. First and only ever team-sport. Switched to goalie 2 years ago. Just joined the Ottawa Gay Hockey Ass'n.
snowboarding (17 seasons now)
ww kayaking
weightlifting
running (just started)

Previously:
mountain biking
motocross

Watch:
hockey (Ottawa 67s season ticket)

Wish:
lacrosse

I started playing soccer when I was about 10. Continued playing through high school and college and then played indoor for a few years. I love to watch it on tv.

Was on the tennis team im junior high. Played basketball and Little League, too.

In high school I was on the soccer team (right forward) and track team (junior year - 100, 220, 440 relay, senior year - 220, 440, mile relay).

In college only soccer.

i love to play basketball but have to admit to barely following pro basketball anymore.

HOCKEY, HOCKEY, AND MORE HOCKEY! I am a huge fan, even travel to away cities to see NHL games, I play in a ball hockey league.

I play volleyball, volleyball and volleyball. LOL....i've been a setter, sometimes outside hitter but mostly setting is my best skill.

i do enjoy watching volleyball, football and basketball too.

I've played tennis for about 27 years and still play in tournaments. Tried it professionally, but kept running into that Agassi kid (!!) I also played on a USVBA volleyball team for years, but I had to choose, and tennis won out.

Played everything in college on a frat intramural team (basketball, flag-football, volleyball, even water polo playedin inner tubes!)

I surf and i tried snowboarding for the first time last winter (in australia)... wicked sport. Definitely doing it again next winter!!
Anyone else here surf or snowboard?
I suck at surfing. its one of the harder sports out there to master... so its alright to suck. lol

Sports I take part in is swimming and cycling but Sports I enjoy watching live or on the boobtube is Hockey of course in the winter and in the summer I get into some tennis.

I used to play volleyball and badminton, but have since moved and never got around to finding a new place to play.

Been a season ticket holder to the Colorado Mammoth indoor lacrosse team since they moved to town in 2001. Why? Here's a couple things that happened at last night's game.

* Met up with friends early, grabbed some food, and chatted about the upcoming game (it was supposed to be an easy win for our team, and luckily, it was).
* Settled into our seats. We're near a corner, although a bit more along the long side, about halfway up. From there, we're close enough to see things close-up, high up enough to get a good vantage point of the entire field, and get a good view of one of the goals.
* Said hello to all the other regulars in our section.
* Watched Mammoth captain Gavin Prout outwit all FIVE defenders on one play and score a goal unassisted.
* Saw Mammoth goalie Gee Nash make more than his share of amazing saves, including a diving save with his back to the guy shooting the ball.
* Went nuts when forward Nenid Gajic dove into the crease as he shot the ball, scored a goal, then got punched three times by the opposing goalie...then went even MORE nuts as the goal was disallowed and Gajic was sent to the penalty box for interfering with the goalie!
* Joined the other 17,000 fans in yelling "GET IN THE BOX!" when an opposing player was sent to the penalty box.
* Had my bloodlust stirred up when the players threw their gloves off and began mixing it up near our side of the field.
* Cheered like crazy when the game finished, with the Mammoth 16-7 victors.
* Made our way down to the bar inside the venue after the game and got a good table.
* Had a couple drinks, and did some people watching for the first 20 minutes or so, waiting for the players to show up. They always come out for an hour or so, dressed in nice suits, to have some drinks, sign autographs, and chat with the fans.
* Called over Dan Stroup when he showed up. He played with the Mammoth for the previous three seasons, but he was picked during the expansion draft and traded to Edmonton in the offseason. We welcomed him back, which he seemed touched to hear, and we congratulated him on getting his championship ring from last year (finally). He pulled it out of his pocket and handed it to us to look over. Even let us try it on. Damn thing is huge and weighs a ton.
* Joked with the general manager/president about his pre-game speech (where he gave the championship rings to former players Stroup and Chris Gill). Long story about that which isn't worth relating...
* Got to chat with Gavin Prout for quite a bit. He recognizes us as "that gay couple with the two women" (we usually sit with two female friends). Talked with Gavin Prout about a variety of things, including asking after their strength/conditioning guy, who was rushed to the hospital last week with a life-threatening condition. He's OK now - in fact, he was at the game! He also seemed surprised to find out that everyone at the table thought he was cute, although I played it off by saying, "Enh - you're average." (Actually, he's better than that, methinks...)
* Got to chat briefly with almost every other player we wanted to. Brian Langtry was notably absent. All the players chat with you if you want. Gee Nash obviously is uncomfortable with the "fandom" that he's earned, so we tend not to talk to him much.
* This didn't happen last night, but it could've. Someone led a kid up to Brian Langtry, and it was pretty apparent that this kid was "special needs" of some sort. The kid said, "Hi, Brian. I'm John Smith (or whatever his name was)." Brian's eyes lit up and he said, "Hi, John! I got your e-mail! I'm sorry I haven't written back to you, but I've been really busy. I'll make sure to write back to you this week, OK?" Then he signed the kid's jersey. You ever hear any other players doing this sort of thing?
* Besides, how can you not like a sport where there's at least three "crease violations" every game? :D Some of these players are quite easy on the eyes, and really cool guys, to boot. They can violate my crease anytime. ;)
* Cost for this night of fun? Tickets are $25. Food was typically high, but not insane - maybe $9 or so.

Geez, how could you NOT like this? :D
