Starbucks ripped me off

Because they expanded haphazardly, sometimes putting stores within blocks of each other. I don't know why their expansion plans were so careless but they seem to be finding the right level.

They got greedy. And they're still suffering. They've recently announce that they will be selling alcohol as well. Anyone for a $15 bottle of Starbucks beer or $45 for a glass of Starbucks wine?

In that case. I prefer Costa.
I think...
I just lurve their Frescato's and how the employees always correct me when i say it with a thoroughly British accent.
Fres-CAR-toe.

Why do you knock things that you've never tried? You, yourself, said you've never even been inside one. Why not travel out of your world and try something new? Then, you can decide for yourself whether 1) it's worth it or 2) not worth it or 3) a big rip off.

I love the Starbucks near me. Too much. Paws, they're pretty approachable--if someone is unhappy with their order, they want to hear about it. The reason they've been so successful is that they are customer-oriented and serve up what people want. The last thing they want is someone unhappy spreading it around.

That's really just expanding their business into something new. And it probably won't be in actual Starbucks, but a different store apart of the same company.

I'm not knocking them. I'm merely commenting on their initial success and their recent decline. I've never had their coffee because:

1 - I would have to take a bus to get to the only one I know about.

2 - It would cost me $4.50 just to ride the bus to the nearest shop, making the cup of coffee worth $11.50.

3 - I can't afford an $11.50 cup of coffee and I don't travel out of my world because I'm not able to.

Starbucks is great for those who like their coffee and don't mind paying their prices. I can't even get to Tim Horton's.

Alert the Media! Call the BBC! CBC! CNN!

Even Faux News! Get Geraldo to cover the story!

This is NEWS!

1 -- Whilst taking the bus, could you run some other errands to surrounding businesses?

I've been down at that part of the city only once in the past 12 years and that was to buy Season 10 of Stargate SG-1 a few years ago. There's no other reason for me to go there.

The coffee is 3 dollars, not 7. Paws was exagerating with the price.

I went to Starbucks. They had a new Frapuccino flavour called Lemon Hibiscus. I thought it would be like the other Frapuccinos.

I paid $7 for some watery juice mixed with blended ice :grrr:

lol, well cinema drinks ripped me off.
i paid $7 for 2 small bottles of spring water. :grrr:

Starbucks coffee tastes burnt!!! BLEH!!!!!

Well, honey, what side of town is that, the Starbucks side? Surely you have more than one?

There's only one that I know of. I've never bothered looking for any others. I know for a fact that there aren't any in the downtown core, and that's where I live.

I Googled Starbucks here in Peterborough. I live somewhere around the first 'R' in Peterborough. The Starbucks in town are in the south end on what we call 'Junk Food Alley':

2 -- Starbucks sells a "short" coffee (you have to ask since it's not on their menu) for $1.60 which includes tax. Their "tall" coffee is $1.77 which includes tax.

3 -- I think you DO need a good, strong coffee! Could someone bring you one?

Geeze, i know there's a full moon any minute now - but HOLY COW ! BETWEEN THE armchair philosophers, and the world travellers - IDK .

Steak&Cheeze man - did it ever occur to you that prices are different EVERYWHERE? Did it ever occur to you that he's talking CANADIAN DOLLARS? AND .....there are most likely far more Gloria Jean's in Canada and the NorthWest than Starbucks - -they WERE #2 in their category not too long ago.

i find it positively hysterical that people are soo willing to give such wonderful free advise as to tell someone to go run errands -- when they've never been there and have no idea what's there - or why GSD would /shuld go there.. Give it up - already.. If you paid for each post by the word - you'ld think about what to say that's relevant before taking hands to keyboard.

Who the hell would know what Gloria Jean's is?

I have heard of Tim Horton's, but not Gloria Jeans.

And most likely, the prices aren't too different across the border. I mean, geez.

Did this ever occur to YOU? :p

KINDA wondering what you're sucking on for hours, while they're with their coffee... it would be far more interesting now than hearing about coffee prices in Texas.

Ohhh do you know them? I thought they were virtually the same price throughout the entire nation!?

I just think it's rather odd that someone would turn their nose up at Starbucks coffee without EVER stepping into one.

I have not turned up my nose at Starbucks coffee. I've just never had the opportunity to step into one. In fact, the last time I was in a coffee shop or a doughnut shop or even a restaurant, Starbucks hadn't even set up shop around here.

Anxiety attacks tend to put a damper on sipping and enjoying a coffee or a meal anywhere. I don't intend to risk an attack simply to decide whether or not I like their coffee.
