Stargate SG1 and Atlantis

I just started watching SG1 and I have a ( stupid) question---but have they ever said why almost every world they go the people speak english. I know that it would be annoying to have to learn a new language every week, but I have yet to hear an explaination for this. Farscape had the translator microbs.

Sure, the producers and actors have stated the reason many times. It's a TV show, and this is easiest for production and the audience. Simple as that ;).

Unless you've already seen them online, then the final 10 episodes of SG-1 will air starting April 13th in the U.S.

Who would win in a hypothetical titanic clash between the Asgard and the Wraith?

Wraith easily

i was dissapionted with the SG-1 finale i thought it might actually tie things up but obviously they are going to use the films for that

atlantis is just awesome and prefer it to the new SG-1 episodes

Depends on two things, where does the clash happen? And how many are involved?

Does the clash happen in Pegasus? Yes? The Wraith win, hands down.

Does the clash happen in the Milky Way (or Asgard home galaxy)? Yes? How many Wraith Ships are involved? A couple of fleets? Asgard win. Overwhelming number of Wraith? Wraith win.

Ahhh.... I've been waiting what seems forever for the new seasons of Stargate SG1 and Altantis to come out. Its really a shame that SG-1 is in its final season. But remember all good things come to an end.

I'm sad too, but like you said, all good things. At least they'll have movies, and here's to a nice string and years of movies!! *toasts*

I'm looking forward to Atlantis even more now, here's to them having as much success as SG-1 *toasts again*.

NEWS:
A Third Stargate Television series is in development by MGM [story]. The series, tentitively titled "Stargate Universe", will be a completely seperate, third entity, and much less of a spinoff of SG-1 than Atlantis. The series will be quite distinct and different from SG-1 or Atlantis, but it will definately be "Stargate", it will also NOT be set in the future, or the past, it will remain in the present. In a first minor spoiler, producer Robert C. Cooper disclosed that "Universe" will have to do with the Stargate's ninth address chevron, that's purpose has been unknown throughout both SG-1 and Atlantis [story].

Unconfirmed but credible NEWS:

According to an article in SciFi magazine, the newly promoted Colonel Samantha Carter (played by Amanda Tapping) is going to REPLACE Doctor Elizabeth Weir (played by Torri Higgenson) as the leader of the Atlantis expedition in season 4 of Stargate Atlantis. In the article, executive producer Robert C. Cooper apologized to Dr. Weir fans, in effect saying she won't be around much any more, adding that the change needed to be made.

If anyone's interested, i'm a 3D digital artist, and have a couple renders of a stargate i made in my gallery, enjoy, or hate, up to you ;).

Just a reminder to everyone to watch Stargate SG-1 and more importantly Stargate Atlantis LIVE on friday nights from 7pm-9pm in the U.S.!!!! Ratings dropped significanly this week (Down 30% from last week, i expect this is due to the fact that the rest of the world has already seen the episodes, as have many internet-friendly fans in the U.S.).

But the important thing to know is, YOU'VE GOT TO WATCH IT LIVE IN ORDER TO BOOST THE RATINGS!!! We, the fans, have got the keep the ratings up if we want Atlantis to continue on past it's 4th season. So even if you've already seen them, watch them again live! Especially if you have a ratings box! At least put your TV on the SciFi channel during that time slot! :) If you don't have a ratings box, and would like to get more information about participating in the Nielson Rating System, visit http://www.nielsenmedia.com/.

I'm one of those! But to be honest, it's Sci Fi's fault for having lower ratings. All stargate episodes should be aired the same week, within a day or two, in all world markets. I'm a huge Altantis and SG1 fan that couldn't wait so long for the new episodes to air on Sci fi, so i did watch it online.

It's sad about Weir being replaced by Sam. I've never seen Sam as the leader type and i think she will probably do a bad job at it, i hope i'm wrong though. The other thing i don't like about Sam becoming the new leader of the Atlantis expedition is that there is going to be too much friction between Sam and Rodney.

In terms of the other character that was on SG1, I hope Daniel gets a job at either Atlantis or Universe. It would really be a shame for them to just fire him since he's the main reason why the Stargate program has learned so much.

STILL, REMEMBER TO WATCH LIVE! :) A 1.2 rating is horrible. If Atlantis can hold a 1.6 then that would be a very good thing. So like i said, even if you've already seen them, watch them again live! :)

And don't dis season 4 before we see it, let's see how it turns out first!

What is the level of technology of the Ancients? I read somwhere that the Goua'uld were 500 years more advanced than Earth, the Tollan, 800, and the Asgard, about 3000. Since the Ancient's technology dwarfed even that of the Asgard, then how far more advanced were they from us?

THA

It's hard to say really... They evolved several million years before us. It really all depends on how fast you're saying our technology is developing. If you base that on a constant rate that doesn't change... i dunno, greater than 10,000 - 100,000 years i'd imagine.

P.S.
WATCH STARGATE LIVE IN THE U.S. ON FRIDAYS AT 8PM AND 9PM EST.

Tau'ri:

Aschen -100+

Goa'uld - 500

Tollan - 800

Nox - 1000+

Asgard - 3000

I actually believe that the Nox have a much bigger gap in technology compared to the asgard. I'll even go as far as saying that the Nox are almost at the same level as the ancients. Reason for it is this: like the ancients, the Nox are able to heal and manipulate things with their minds. Case in point when the Tollan's were "rescued" from Stargate command by the woman ( i can't remember her name), she dialed to her planet by mere thought, instead of manually touching something. I truly believe the only difference between the Nox and the Ancients is that the Nox are more in balance with nature; whereas the Ancients, prefer the more modern things. The Nox don't like violence or to dominate, so they don't care what happens outside of their own little world. Also, unlike the Asgard, the Nox have been able to extend their lives without causing any breeding problems.

I'd say for years ahead of Earth Humans:

Aschen -100+

Goa'uld - 250

Tollan - 800

Asgard - 4000

Ancients/Nox - 10000++++

The reason for the Ancients/Nox being so high up on my list is because the ancients left Atlantis a lil bit over 10k years ago, and Earth humans have yet to fully understand that kind of technology. Sure they now have the Asgard's technology, but they don't know how it actually works. With the ancients it seemed that almost everyone knew how to build and run their technology. When it comes to earth, it's pretty much only Sam and Rodney with a few scientist that aren't smart enough to fully understand it.

Just a reminder, if you live in the U.S. watch Stargate LIVE tonight on the SCIFI Channel so we can boost the ratings!!! Get your friends to watch too! And for god's sake, if you know someone with a neilson ratings box on their TV, ask them to tune into the SCIFI channel for Stargate tonight, from 8pm-10pm EST (7pm-9pm CST).

I don't have the scifi channel anymore. it got too expensive. :(

proven, your renders are really cool. i like the first gate the best, it's excellent. the second gate is really good and unique looking too.

What do you mean by too expensive?

Thanx, the second is my concept for an Ori Stargate.

my expanded basic cable (which is the most basic service that gets scifi channel in my area) is 45 dollars a month. that plus cable internet comes out to just over 100 bucks a month. i couldn't afford both.
