Stargate Universe

The sex scene was lame.

(snip)

And like previously mentioned it was just so dumb and unnecessary.

And I thought right at that moment, "If the show is going to be like this, I'm not going to be watching it."

The entire scene was gratuitous and an attention-grabber. Nothing more.

i never really like either sg1 or atlantis so when i tuned in to universe i wasn't expecting much. but to my surprise i really, really liked it! i'm looking forward to tonight episode.

i really enjoyed the show but then again i loved Atlantis and SG1. I agree the sex season was unnecessary, al though it didn't stop the flow of the show which is good.
This version of Stargate is more edgy and dark. Looks promising.

The sex scene was more than necessary.

Matthew Scott is the cutest and most attractive stargate character in the shows history.

mmmmmmmm

w0rd!! and i have to admit a soft spot for the guy who plays eli. he's rather cute if i do say so myself.

the second episode was pretty good i thought. i'm rather enjoying this program!

I can see the aspect of the guy being hot, but it still seemed like a cheap and tired attempt to appear edgy.

Also, to me it seemed like alpha-male, straight guy bullshit to show the leader is a "real man". He's full of all the straight guy cliches.

we were pissed off when we realized we had missed the second episode.

So I finally took time to watch all 3 episodes of ABC's new "FlashForward"... And after watching the Friday's SGU, I just realized how much SGU really belongs on ABC!

Argh, it's so annoying that I both love and hate this new Stargate series.

I think at the end of the latest episode it somehow became more clear *why* they had the sex-scene in there.
Other than that .. yawn. The most exciting thing was the ending. Oh .. and who cared about the guys on the other planet .. nobody. Gone, forgotten.

I've never been able to get into any of the Stargate series before, even though I really enjoyed the movie.

But I watched this one last night and really enjoyed it! It shows a lot of promise and I can't wait to see next weeks.

I just wish that they would introduce a gay character... but I imagine that is just wishful thinking.

Basically, the show is like a watered down Battlestar with a dash of Star Trek Voyager stirred in. ..|

I agree with the Battlestar connection. I cold go on and on about the parallels.

So far we don't know all the characters that well. Someone could be gay. In fact I saw a promo for the show where the character played by Ming Na said something like "tell her my last thoughts were of her" so I was wondering if she might be a lesbian.

Woohoo! I just googled this:

http://www.afterellen.com/TV/2009/4/stargate-universe

Following on the heels of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, the latest Stargate series — Stargate Universe, or SGU — will include the franchise's first lesbian cast member: political attaché Camille Wray, played by veteran Chinese-American actress Ming-Na Wen

Its so typical that they would have the Lesbian as the bitch of the show.

At least this will not be a short stint as with BSG and Admiral Cain.

Just finished watching the third episode, was nothing special, just a bit of character building.

Those three who ventured off through another stargate will likely show up in a future episode when we least expect them, saving the day.

The body swap thing is well known through Stargate SG1

well .. two or three - depending on how you see it.
The pilot counts as two episodes.

Oh I didnt know that. I didnt see much Sg-1. i saw some of the first few episodes when it started on showtime.

It happened at the beginning of Season 9 of SG-1 in which Valla and Daniel 'swap bodies' with a married couple in a totally different galaxy and are introduced to the Ori who become the nemesis throughout the final 2 seasons and 1 subsequent movie.

One of the funniest exchanges certainly had to be the episode in which Valla exchanged bodies with Daniel Jackson in the next-to-last episode of Season 9 (Crusade) and tracks down Col. Mitchell fresh out of the shower and shaving. Mitchell sees Daniel, but we see Valla. Daniel ogling Mitchell was priceless (and the thing that fantasies are made from).

Note the direction of Daniel's eyes in the mirror. ;)
