Stargate Universe

Oh oh .. I remember that episode .. I almost fell of the couch, laughing :)

^ Yeah, me too.

I found the scene on YouTube!! (My apologies for spelling Vala's name incorrectly in my previous post.)

I wonder if they did that scene to play up on the Jackson/Mitchell fantasies which were flooding the internet at the time, sort of like they did with the Jackson/O'Neill fantasies they joked about in the 10th Season episode 200:

My father and I have loved Stargate since the original movie. We enjoyed the premiere but episode 2 seemed to drag on in the desert.

We understand the need for the sand/calcium for filtrating the CO2 out of the ship but did they have to focus SO much time on just desert?

This last episode was a tad stale. There haven't been any moments with the show that have wowed me yet.

^Yea I dont know what they are doing. How do they expect to keep an audience when they are four episodes in and there is so little progress? People have the same injuries, they have met no other life, the ship is still falling apart, they keep having all these survival countdowns, and they have barely used the Stargate. And next week it seems like now they are on a another survival countdown because of this star they are headed towards. It's like a miniseries movie that they are stretching out into multiple episodes. It's a mess.

^ Agreed. And far too many characters to develop. It's becoming very confusing.

I expected more from Peter DeLuise.

From the previews for next week, it looks like there's going to be another 'We're all going to die so let's have sex' sceen.

I think they're going to have to work a bit harder to make a serious go of it.

Just finished watching the 3rd episode off my DVR. I'm still impressed, I thought the quality might dip some from the excellent pilot episode but its maintained an even keel. I was hesitent at first to even watch it because while I was a fan of the original show (mostly for RDA) I lost interest as the show descended into camp, warmed over Sci-Fi cliche's and another space battle week after week. I never even really bothered with "Atlantis". But the ads for SGU roped me in because it looked like they decided to dispense with the camp elements (except for the comic relief of Eli, who I agree is cute. If he lost some weight he'd be serious eye candy). Obviously influenced by "Battlestar Galactica" the show is dark, which I like (SGU is like BSG & "ST: Voyager" had a baby). I also like that the show is not just plot based but character based as well, I love/hate Dr. Rush. The acting is also at a high level so far. I'm also pleased that they haven't (yet anyway) introduced the evil alien of the week. I hope the powers that be at SyFy don't let the show develop into just another brain dead weekly shoot em up in space.

To keep things here gay, actor Matthew Scott is uber cute, kinda reminds me of Chris Pine with his ruggedness.

i really, really loved tonight's episode! i am completely hooked on this show and tonight's was the best so far. :)

Not sure how a planet can be that close to a sun and support life- it took the ship a few minutes to reach it at impulse, but hey, it's television.

I agree with GL, best one so far.

I was out of pocket Fri. night and forgot to record. do they re-broadcast?

Oh what a surprise
Anybody here to whom it was NOT clear that the ship will replenish it's energy with the help of the sun somehow, the minute the ship changed course?

Well at least a lot of eyecandy in this episode :)

Download a torrent, if networks can host previously aired shows for free online in the US there's no reason for you not to grab it.

well, yeah. it wasn't a big surprise but what impressed me was the way the 'crew' reacted and dealt with their imposing doom. that's what got me.

but i will not argue about the eye candy! ;)

anybody see last night's episode? thoughts?

i thought it was a good one. i loved eli's reference to 'hoth.' ;)

"Empire Strikes Back? . . . Okay! I refuse to call it Episode Five!"

I thought it was pretty good, too. Definitely they're mining territory previously investigated by BSG, but they've got the "stargate" device, and they have established good space for character development -- character development in a niche that is easily inhabited by fanboys!

I like the idea that they are a long, long way from home....

but they've got the "stargate" device

Yes, they do, but so far it's been Destiny in charge of it, coming out of FTL only when it's necessary to fix a problem and dialling up the necessary planet, then jumping into FTL again automatically.

So, someone had better learn how to fly it before they run out of problems to fix.

I'm getting board with the omg we've no..... episodes don't get me wrong you need them or I would complain that they just happen to have everything on hand but when you've seen it all before it get hard to smoach sometimes. I like that the show feels very different from the others but looking at it so far still makes me wonder why Atlantis was scrapped.

^Exactly. Every episode is we need power, we need water, we need air, we need food. Plus the Chloe/Scott romance came outta nowhere. All of a sudden they're deep in love. I guess they were trying to be different than going the Chloe/Eli route which was expected. But it is weird how Scott never seemed to end things with the other girl. Something tells me she is gonna end up pregnant.

And what the hell are they doing with Ming-Na? She is like the biggest star on this show and she's hardly in it at all. this really isnt even worth her time.

People claim there's character development but i disagree. There's too much time solving the problems of the week. I do love how batshit and ornery Rush is though.
