Hey guys this always happens to me, I start to get a sore throat and in a couple of days I'm raped by flu. Any tips to stop the onset in your experience. Thanks Chris

Honey and Bourbon in Tea.

And chicken soup.

Thanks for the tips. Had all the vietmens I could find in cupboard like viet c fish and a multi v. Anybody have thoughts on green tea

Eat one or two cloves of raw garlic two or three times a day. It is important to chew it up as much as possible before you swallow it. You should also take 5,000 IU of Vit. D per day. If you do those two things, I doubt you'll get sick. Let us know if it works for you. This is what I do if I feel a cold coming on and I haven't been sick in over two years.

Are you sure it is the flu? It sounds too frequent for that. And surely you are getting the annual flu vaccine?
If it is a cold, echinacia (sp?) and zinc lozenges do seem to shorten it. Start as soon as you think you might be getting a cold.

Any tips to stop the onset in your experience.

There is no way to stop the onset of a flu. No magic pill, no vaccination, no vitamin-pill (you should avoid those anyway, but thats another story)

What you can do is to help your body to handle this flu as good as possible.
What your body needs for this is primarily rest. Go to bed early, make it warm and confy and sleep 6-8h. Also drink a lot of water, eat healthy (meat and veggies, no fluor no sugar) and stay warm.

Thats it. You can do a lot against the symptoms, but you shouldn´t because those symptoms will remind you to slow down and let your body handle it.

There is no proven effect of high vitamins in correlation to flu/ having a cold. On the other hand your body needs quite little vitamin (your ancestors got all they need out of veggies and meat that was much worse developed than yours today) and every pill or even a high level of fruits in your diet is a more or less high overdose. Your body has to clean that overdose up every time you inflict it to him.

Also some studies have shown a correlation between high doses of vitamin and osteoporosis over long time.

Make yourself a hot toddy with some tea and Rock 'n Rye whiskey before turning in for the night. Go to bed and cover up. You will sweat profusely during the night. The next morning, the ailment will be gone.

I have used this treatment several times. I am impressed how well it works.

People in capitalist countries are larger than their ancestors, probably due to superior vitamin nutrition. Not all pills to be sure, but Americna have from the beginning had ample meat protein and carbs. The big difference seems to have come with the ability to have superior vitamin nutrition, with fruits and vegetables and perhaps pills during winter. If vitamin supply is that important, perhaps pills are worth it. The argument that our ancestors did ok overlooks the difference in size.

The argument that our ancestors did ok overlooks the difference in size.

Lets take Vitamin C, which is number one "you need that"-shitpill.

You require about 100 mg of Vitamin C per day.
Here are some veggies with vitamin c mg/ 100g.
capsicum 140mg/100g
wild brier 1250mg/100g
Kiwi 100mg/100g
Brocolli 110mg/100g
Orange 50g/100mg

I´ll let the rest of it to you.

By the way, the size difference is mostly a myth, descending from small doors in old houses (which are a method for defense if there is an attack especially in medieval houses) and the decoration-armour you mostly find in museums.

Societies with a steady amount of food without hunger-periods have always known huge guys and tiny whimps.

Minimum requirements do not answer the question whether more is better or harmful.

As said, studies have shown a correlation between high doses of vitamins over a long time and osteoperosis. Also renal calculi are connected to this, which is not realy surprising since your body has to resolve the overdose via kidney.
Vitamin C is realy good in water, but even that promotes renal calculi because of the high doses. Even better are the other vitamin that you need in real small dose daily but bomb into your body in huge amounts with pills. Some of them are not as good resolvebal in water as vitamin C is.

Also 100mg is not a minimum requirement, which would mean you are just scratching over the edge of scurvy. 100mg is the daily needed dose in a healthy person. Just like water, yes you can drink 12 litres a day although you don´t work physically. Is it healthy? No, you piss all the minerals and salts out your body needs and will feel the effects over a long time. Or you drink it to fast and the water has to be stored in your intercellular space.
More is not automaticly better [-X
Your body doesn´t store vitamin. If there is to much, it has to be washed out...it´s no rocket science.

And again, there is no correlation between high vitamin doses and the time or outcome of flu.

But hey mate, do whatever you like. If you think it´s a good idea to put some manufactured vitamins in high doses and concentration into your body daily instead of eating some fresh pepper in a salad please proceed. ..|

Well struggled through work today. I do a sales role so have to talk but with this was a bit hard. Sorta tired gunna head to bed.

This fixes my colds and flus, don't know why it works other than it seems to make me sweat it out quickly. 2/3 mug hot water, 2cloves, 1/2cinamon stick, table spoon of honey or two 1/3mug of good scotch. Tastes great and cures me every time!
