Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) is Dead [merged]

I just heard the story. I never really watched his show, but it is terribly sad and a little shocking. He will be another tv personality who will be missed.

I am going to put myself in the devil's chair & say, he got what he deserve! I'm shock it was a croc that didn't get him first. Long b4 the baby controversy, I was appalled by his behavior & treatment of wildlife. When does harassing animals become entertaining!? Instead of making wildlife the star (which was commonplace thru the 80's), this asshole (& many others) make the human the focus. I don't care about you, I tune in for the animals/nature in it's habitat. In the wild, humans don't interact with these creatures. This is no big loss, but a chance endangered species may be left alone. Too bad we can't see the footage of his death...now that would be entertaining. Nature getting it's revenge!

You obviously have no idea what his work was about. Yes he made it entertaining, however his work with wildlife has helped secure the safety of many species of animals. He didn't go out in the wild to just "play" with animals for your entertainment. His efforts were also to protect the animals from hunters and humans from killing off species of animals. Sorry to inform you, maybe in your world humans don't interact with these animals, but in Australia and many other places where crocs, alligators exist, humans do end up interacting with these animals, and he would go in and safely and humanely remove these animals and put them back in their rightful environment. It is more and more commonplace with the development of homes and "wildlife" being taken away that animals and humans make more contact with eachother.Get a clue and you might see all his life's work really was meant for something.

Well everyone said this would happen eventually to this guy... however I am really shocked that he was killed so young. We all knew what he was doing was dangerous, but he had a superman invulerablity around him. His death will make us feel very mortal for a while.

Cheers Steve... you'll be missed.

I still can't get over the fact that he isn't with us anymore. He just seemed larger than life. I enjoyed his programs and marveled at some of the things he did. I am pretty certain he had a more respect for animals than some posters here have for him, nevertheless the animal kingdom has lost their champion today.

Rest In Peace Mr. Irwin. You will be missed.

I was shocked when I oponed the internet this morning to see the headlines!! He will be missed. He did a lot of good for the wildlife he observed.

I believe u get what u deserve. This asshole picked on innocent animals & they fought back. Ironic that one of the most docile & peaceful of marine life...ppl swim holding on to them...defended itself & put this prick down. I'm against zoo's & keeping wild animals captive. Vegan & obviously fur!

Very sad indeed. It is quite a shame to slowly fade from the spotlight, only to return when you've died. My condolences to his familiy.

COUSIN - IM sorry if i have offended you or like taken this topic of track#-o

R.I.P steve irwin

I have had a PM from a Jubber pointing out that you was agreeing with me, so i am sorry for getting it mixed up.
And i am sorry for going off target, but i take offence and people like jessica as i belive that he helped animals, and quite frankly i am shocked at this persons attack on a man who has helped more species survive then they have.
R.I.P steve, wish there was more folks like you.

This is very unfortunate. I didnt watch his show alot but i liked his style. He had no fear and he always made his show fun to watch. I remember when he had his baby with the cricodile and it created headlines. I keep thinking about his lil boy its really sad.

Although I never really sat down to watch any of his shows, he came across as a really nice, warm and happy guy. His passion for animals clearly came across from the various clips I had seen of him over the years and I was deeply shocked and moved by the images of him wrestling with crocodiles and basically enjoying his life. He certainly looked like he had a great time whilst he was here and I hope that his wife and young children can take some comfort from that further down the line.

Very sad and upsetting. I understand an attack by one

of these animals is very rare, and a fatality is unusual.

My most sincere condolences to his family.

RIP Steve
