Stranger Slaps Screaming Child In Georgia Wal-Mart

Have you been drinking ammonia?

For all this man knows, the kid could've been autistic or had some other condition. His ignorance is only superceded by your ignorant praise.

I don't like people who chew loud so does that give me carte blanche to go around slapping people? Do we get to do that anytime someone annoys us?

Having some random stranger strike you as a two year old can be damaging but of course none of that matters because here in America the only thing that matters is the comfort of the individual, no matter how you have to knock upside the head to get it.

If he doesn't like crying children he's welcome to shell his sorry ass in his apartment and avoid the outside world altogether. What a sorry fuck. Oh, and so is the guy you're exalting.

He reportedly went up to the mother several times and asked her to quiet the child down. If there was a problem with the child, the mother could have simply apologized for the disturbance and explained the situation to the man. She opted not to, so was content on allowing the child to scream her lungs out and disturb everyone else in the store.

The problem these days is that parents are too afraid to discipline children. And we wonder why society is getting lazier and lazier with these new breed of spoiled kids. That's exactly why. And it starts at a very early age, as well.

I had a situation like this in Red Robin just last week where there was a family who was allowing this child to keep doing these high pitched screams in the restaurant. We're looking around and everyone was shooting this family dirty looks and obviously were getting angry. However, what does the family do? Instead of scolding the kid (who was probably 3 or 4), instead they actually laugh with the child. No exaggeration.

You don't sound like Karen Walker. The real Karen Walker would give the kid a shot of morphine to shut her up.:D

What a douche. He would no longer be able to call him self a man if he hit my child.

This story reminds me of this video.

I totally understand what he did, I feel like doing that so often, however I can't condone it, nor would I ever actually do it. If I or my siblings ever threw a tantrum in public, our Mum would have slapped us, the threat of a slap was her method of control and it seems to have worked ok for her and I don't recall her having to resort to it very often.

These days parents seen to be getting terrified to discipline their kids in case Mrs. Meanwell reports them to social services for abuse. Fucking nanny state we live in](*,)](*,)

So the resolution is to hit the kid? What exactly did it solve other than him having a temporary punching bag to work out his childish frustration?

Nope. Not gonna work, you can't justify this incident with "The problem these days." The REAL problem these days is supercilious assbags like him thinkin' that it's his world and we're just livin' in it. His behavior was more immature than the 2 year old's.

Irrelevant. Don't really care.

Don't slap the kid, kick the mother in the ass, for not taking the child and leaving. That is the way to teach children not to use that tactic when out.

Bad parenting, bad intervention. Remember the quickest way to stop your child annoying people is to remove your child.

You can tell from the responses here who has kids, who deals with kids on a regular basis and who doesn't.

I have definately seen mothers just let their children run wild in walmart. I have seen them knock stuff off shelves and even open food and start eating it. A two year-old though? Unless he was waiting in line, he could have just gone to another section of the store. Those 4-8 years that run rampant through the store while mommy is on her cell, they need to be hit or put on a leesh.

I work at a supermarket and the amount of screaming, whinging kids that I wish I could smash out grows every day.

I have been watching this thread all day and wanted to develop an opinion.

I do NOT approve of the action, but certainly understand the level of frustration.

Situations like these (the screeching kids that are unstopped) are why I now shop at odd hours when I can. And a reason that I really, really, really never want to work Retail again.

I have been known to abandon my cart/buggy FULL OF STUFF and just leave the store and go elsewhere. And after asking my Partner about this, so has he.

My Neighbor has a 16 month old son and she frequently must go shopping without her Husband as he works out of town and is gone for days at a time. I applaud her solution; she has now called me on at least two occasions and asked me to run to the store for her because the Baby is extremely fussy and she CAN'T take him out.

I have purchased for my Neighbor feminine products and diapers (among a few other things) and would be happy to do so again. Why can't other Moms come up with a reasonable solution?

It's interesting how black and white the responses are in this thread. Either 100% for or 100% against.

I don't think the man should have hit the child; she's too young to understand it all either way. An older kid would have got the message - although I can't condone him hitting anyone else's kids, I can quite understand his frustration. I've had my share of screaming/tantrum/misbehaving kids, and parents, both as a customer and behind the counter.

What also surprises me is how many of you advocate the man slapping the mother instead. I'm not a believer in women being slapped by men, frankly; still, I'm hopipng you all meant it tongue-in-cheek.

Still, a valuable lesson hopefully learned by everyone - mother knows that random strangers won't necessarily put up with her childrens' nonsense; man knows he can't lay the smack down on anyone regardless of circumstance and (hopefully) store manager knows now that shit happens in the store if he doesn't intervene.

It is never appropriate for one human being to strike another - except in self-defence .

You never slap a child.

Good thing they weren't in the duct tape department though.

What an asshole.
If anyone touched my child like that, it would have been me getting arrested for beating the shit outta him.

Hopefully, those lessons will be taken to heart, but realistically, this is probably how it's going to go down---

Mother contacts or is contacted by scummy lawyer with plans for multi-million dollar lawsuit against man and/or Walmart.

Angry Man doesn't have that kind of money so just goes to jail and holds lifelong bitter grudge against "that damn bitch and her noisy bitchling".

Walmart settles out of court.
