Study Says Gays Can Change Orientation

JAG ^^^^

This stuff from CBN is extremely biased and is not creditable. I am very active in the Christian healing ministry and I hope this year I will have a book out, in which case I may have to leave JUB so some will not find me lacking in credibility.

This has been around for 20 years, and is still lacking in credibility.
I personally know the people and know others whose lived are a shambles because of these people.

Do not lose any sleep over this nonsense. Even in New Zealand the smell of spoiled fish is apparent. Thanks JAG. This one post will get me a handful of hate messages and exoricate me for my impending trip into the fires of hell. Sorry, I am not buying a ticket.

Shep+(*8*)(*8*)(*8*):sex:*|*!oops!

Seems to me this Exodus stuff is a big waste of time.

Let us suppose one's sexuality were by choice. I don't want anyone pontificating to me that I should change, and they can change me. A sad waste of time. If they would be really helpful, they might make a monetary contribution to GLBT support groups and causes.

This stuff makes my blood boil.

Why aren't these people focussing on changing things like terrorism and prejudice and war and all the things that bring harm to society and humanity?

Because if there were no more homos... there would finally be peace on earth; all of the worlds problems would cease to exist.

They had a special about that on abc i dint believe it because they had this one guy and he was a Christian and he suddenly turn straight and he married a foreign woman and he still act femme but u could tell he was trying to stop acting it.

why do those people always want to turn gay guys str8?
i wanna invent a drug that could turn hot str8 guys gay.
what a wonderful world that would be.

From what I can see, CBN seem to be Christian based.
I'm not impressed >:\

So ... they've chosen the acronym CBN News to make it sound like CNN News and give it some sort of legitimacy with the masses ... [-X

Actually CBN existed first, back when there were just ABC, NBC, and CBS. Notice that all have the B in the middle. Some Christians decided the existing networks were "wordly", and they wanted to have their own.

Anyway, about this study:

1. The sample is biased to begin with; it's a group of gays so desperate to be "normal" that they sought out this group.

2. There is some evidence that in a tiny minority of cases, a screwed-up upbringing can send someone toward being gay. But again, this is exactly the sort of person likely to be inclined to seek out such a program.

3. From what we've seen in anecdotal evidence, a fair portion of these folks are going to revert.

So, some guesses:
Possibly 5% of gays are, for whichever reason, in the categories described in 1 and 2. Of this 5%, they're saying that a bit more than a third "changed" -- and a third of 5% is 1.7 %. So 17 in a thousand gay guys might be able to "change"... and the majority of those will be ones with abusive upbringings.

More likely, the starting figure is like 2%... and the final figure is .7%, or 7 in a thousand.

But wait -- that doesn't account for the ones who revert. Let's guess that a quarter do: that leaves 2-3 guys in a thousand being "changed"... or at least appearing to do so.

I think I can believe that figure.

^^Actually Michael, it's Pat Robinson who runs the 700 Club on CBN.

Though his son may have taken over by now. That was the plan anyway.

But it's true, we CAN change!!

For example, right now my orientation is facing South, but if I get up from my chair and turn around, I'm facing North!

So they're right, it is just so obvious.:badgrin:

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Authors of articles like this deserve nothing better.

Strictly Dickly here and no intention to change.

Fuck them.

They should be telling people to accept the're homosexuality as the way that God made them, and not as something evil that must be changed. Anti-gay people are always going to find someone, or some research, that can back up what they believe. It gets old after awhile.

What are you complaining about--news flash, that's more men for us! You know how you're always falling for the gay fellas. Just saying.

Speaking of which, Ravenstar, do ya wanna go on a date by chance? I'll pay for you to take the course and get "de-gayed." We could have a lot of fun together. Consider it won't you?

^Actually, the sheer absurdity of my post was meant to show that the whole notion of being able to change ones orientation is ridiculous. I could've jumped on the band wagon and stated that position in plain language, but instead; I choose to do it in a different manner. I seriously doubt that these fellas really believe that I'm trying to convert them and I'm sure they know I'm supportive of gay rights.
