  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Suckinberg.

maybe its a good thing for porn, if everyone love porn in the conservative countries
and the internet companies keep sending them porn ...

...or a bad thing where they round them up...and worse...

I can promise you that this tool will be used for evil purposes....no doubt at all....

To be fair, conservatives kind of make it easy to sneer at the when they're the ones that say things like wanting to stick a hot poker up a kids ass and all that.

Do they eat babies too? Are they the ones littering everywhere? Are they opening food packages and putting them back on the shelf?

Good grief. Who'd seriously posit that conservatives as a group endorse torturing children? A nut is a nut, and if someone is proposing torturing a kid, then he isn't representing conservatives or liberals, just nuts.

I don't need conservatives to be the Great Satan. We disagree on most key issues. We disagree. They are not monsters or stupid. I'm not saintly or smarter. We disagree. It's ridiculous to reduce them to evil, as well as untruth. Neither of the leading parties in our government has purity or clean hands, or a lock on good policy.

I don't think it was necessarily the board itself.....

There is alot of competition for info to sell to advertisers and companies so probably every Internet Giant will be in on the cash flow soon enough..and they will be the ones following you around like some of them already do paying attention to key words and interests...

...which seems invasive but innocent enough...it's what comes after that which will be the problem.

I am glad I am old....I feel sorry for the people who will grow up in a world where they will be manipulated 24/7 and have no privacy at all.

The "what if's" are alarming....and this is not a tin foil hat moment. It is very real.

People don't have a problem giving all their info over to data collection companies when they sign up for loyalty cards. I think it's even worse than Facebook.

Oh, he is just so sincere, humble and repentant, isn't he? If it weren't for this mess, he'd still be doing the same thing because, you know, 60 billions dollars is not enough for him. Just like with the suit, he was groomed to the max and how to appear remorseful and willing to make changes. Greedy, selfish assholes who don't care who gets taken advantage of are always ugly to me.

One doesn't have to be a Pollyanna to see Zuckerberg and not find him ugly. Although he's not my type, he's far from ugly.

As for the assumptions of his crocodile tears, I think we will see very soon if he leads the reforms he claims. I guess asshole is in the eye of the beholder, but I'm not sure the epithets "greedy and selfish" are as arbitrary. Mr. Zuckerberg and Ms. Chan have committed to giving away 99% of their FB wealth through philanthropy. It wasn't something that they did in a reactionary mode. It was their desire. They have real interests in education and other paths that lead to better lives.

There isn't anything about Zuckerberg's presentation that looks like an act to me other than his careful patience in not being triggered by the insinuations of the Congressmen pretending to care about our online information. My read is that he is working very deliberately to contain his initial reactions which are likely sarcasm and anger.

The portrait below is from Time's article in 2010 when Zuckerberg was named their Man of the Year. His looks have improved as his skin has:

They’re generally on the side that defends bigotry and partakes in it, I mean this last election was a big representative of that. Don’t know where monsters and evil came from, but when they’re not on those side of things I’ll change my mind about them.

Also I don’t see “the left” attacking kids asking for gun rights to be changed after being victims in a mass shooting.

A rare pic of Zuckerberg in a tuxedo, albeit a navy blue one, and a long tie rather than a bowtie, from the Breakthrough Awards three years ago. The perpetually loose tie just doesn't do it for me. If you wear a tie, wear it well, or leave it off.

There's plenty of bigotry on the left, but it is harder to recognize as it isn't against the same targets as the bigotry from the right.

As for monsters, not sure how else anyone could be perceived once you've accused them en masse of advocating sticking a red hot poker up a kid. That's not something in a conservative platform, and cited to use extremism as a brand to paint the whole with.

I didn’t accuse them en mass, you have a way of twisting something I said. I said they “say things like that” meaning, a lot of them do respond in violent ways, again, the Trump campaign being a big example of that.

1. Looks like he didn't sleep enough

2. Conflict of interests

3. Flees thread

What I see today is that for the most part, conservatives are reactionary, and the leading movements in society that have brought us any kind of reform overwhelmingly has come from the liberal side...labor, women's rights, education, environmentalism, civil rights for African Americans, LBGT rights, protections for old age and a social safety net.. all liberal or progressive movements. There are of course a good number of decent people who are conservative, and unlike others I don't condemn everyone who voted for Trump, though I disagree strongly with just about anything Trump- related. Yes, liberals and progressives can be smug assholes and cultural elitists... their own worst enemy at times, and that gets the right all excited because they can successfully pin the excesses of some on the left onto the whole. But for the most part, I am with the liberal/left side on most issues, though sometimes I think there needs to be less certitude and smugness.

Not a fan of Zuckerberg though not an outright hater.... skeptical about will he ever get it about the harm out of control tech can cause society... and I don't think it's as simple as if we just read the privacy settings and adjust them and everything would be hunky dory...it just seems like they wouldn't make it THAT easy to make privacy instantly no longer a concern(other than not using Facebook or any other online social/media platform at all). Something about him makes me think he'd be a lot better fuck(and fucker) than many think, though. Uptight and awkward he may appear at times, would love to see him getting down and dirty and getting all that released...kinky nerd sex is something I'd love to experience!

He has a point..

Today I get a call from a rental in Hawaii...the only place I mentioned Hawaii and the beaches in the recent past are right here on this board last week.

I have never been solicited at all on my cell phone... and now..every day...it is a nightmare.
JUB doesn't share its member list.

One of the reasons we don't allow phone numbers and email addresses in posts is that this is one way that companies like Google can link your personal information to things you have posted on JUB.

More than likely the call you received is a coincidence. Since the new administration took over, the spammers and telemarketers have been having a field day. They no longer honor the "Do Not Call" list. I've gone from getting no telemarketers to getting probably 5-10 calls per day offering me medical alert bracelets, vacation packages, credit cards, loans and offers to include me in their special prayer requests.

On another note, I'm surprised no one commented on Zuck's seat cushion and the "booster seat" meme. He looks like he's waiting for

Mark Zuckerberg in a booster seat looks like he’s about to ask the waitress for chicken fingers and apple juice

Yeah...he does have a point.....

Good to know about the sharing but truthfully...I didn't think it was JUB. I think it was google or facebook or some chrome program that is following us and doing consumer profiles and picking out key words to try to "help" you...grrrr.....

My cell phone numbers were also private and had no issues..'til I filled out my new car purchase paperwork online...and then the phone calls began....

I think you citing that as a typical or exemplary event does have that effect. When posted, it has exactly that effect, because we aren't talking about an individual, but the group. When you pull out "they are the party of hot pokers," it does indeed accuse them en masse.

Maybe because it's just a cheap shot and irrelevant to the man? He's 33 years old. If you are testifying before Congress for 10 hours and the head of a major corporation, or just have dignity, it's obviously in your interest to not sit in a low chair (provided) and be sunken down in front of the desk and mike like Elmer Fudd or Emily Latella. I think he's brilliant for having the wisdom to not allow himself to be physically demeaned. Lots of manager's offices have that shitty seating provided you and you have to strain to sit upright while he peers down from a perch above you. Kudos to Zuckerberg for not losing that game.

Now I know why Telly's posts demeaning physical appearance work so well on JUB when one sees an admin demeaning a man's stature.

I said they are the party that said things like that. Which there are plenty of examples of.
