Survivor 21: Nicaragua

I am enjoying this season more than the last 2 Hantz shows. I love the craziness of the characters and the tribals are just riveting because some .

Amen to that. I'll take Naonka over Russell any day of the week.

After watching the last episode,

(proceeding is an analysis picking out a winner based on the spoiled F3 and the editing thusfar; obviously, those unspoiled should avoid it)
I'm afraid that Jud is really going to win. Out of the rumored F3, I knew even before I got spoiled that Sash wasn't going to win because he's really been irrelevant outside of two or three episodes so far, and when he does show up, he appears as the type of negative evil mastermind caricature that never wins Survivor. Between Chase and Jud, I thought Chase was getting a better edit. However...

Chase was depicted as paranoid and stupid in the last episode. Especially the scene in which Na says "don't go and bother Brenda." Quick cut to Chase bothering Brenda. Brenda comments about how annoying Chase is. Quick cut again to Na saying she told him not to do that. Marty also later comments about Chase negatively.

The whole episode made Chase look dumb and, now that I know that Brenda will not be around to see the jury, I can pretty much eliminate a reverse Russell/Natalie situation there. The main thing that kept Chase in contention to me was the fact that he and Brenda could have gone to the end together because, outside of a Russell/Natalie situation, Chase looked bad as early as episode one, in which he immediately ran to Brenda to make an alliance after starting one with Shannon.

Meanwhile, Jud has been shoved into pivotal roles in the last two episodes, which fits with the idea that the winner's edit picks up at around the merge, and in the last episode the editors again threw him the type of "complex" winner confessional in which he stated "he's tired of playing stupid all the time," blah blah blah.

Also, as Sgt Pepper pointed out previously (which I didn't take too seriously at the time, since I was still unspoiled and thought Jud's edit sucked up to that point), Jud had a winner quote in episode one, and laid out his strategy in a confessional in episode three.

His edit is very HvV Sandra-esque, having a couple of okay pre-merge episodes to establish him as a character and as being against the major villain (Na'onka) but otherwise blending into the background until he emerges in the second half. I don't like it, but it seems like Jud is our winner.

I really hate that I got spoiled. :(

Truthfully I am happy that I got spoiled because I know the eviction list and love following along knowing who is going. The list I saw has been spot on from 1 thru now and I expect it will be correct all the way through.

I am not as down on Chase as many are because I think he tries to be available and tries hard to fit with Brenda and Sash. Brenda and sash annoy the hell out of me because of their constant "we are calling all the shots. We are in charge." I thought Brenda was a pure asshole when Chase tried to talk to her after he talked to NoNookie, the asshole queen who say don't bother Brenda. Who the hell is Brenda that she thinks she can be sullen and non communative Chase is trying to help her and she acts like a dolt. Sash is basically the same and I despise his skanky ass. Glad marty is toast. He was another who thought he had it all in the bag. I am glad that Benry and Jud got a wake up call and found out they are on the outs with just about everyone, save Dan.

Slipintothefog, I'm already spoiled so I read your post and I agree with you. I could still see it going to one of the other finalists, but if not, thanks for remembering that I called it first. ;)

I had a feeling reading this thread even though I haven't seen the spoilers would still spoil it to some degree. I hope what I think happens, happens.

Not gonna dig through this thread cause I dont wanna run into any spoilers but gotta say this has been a great season so far... 21 seasons in, perfect example how the show can still keep fresh season after season.

Jane is definitely a favorite... I was all for Marty until he jumped the shark after the shuffle. Not to mention the guy's good looking, (and local!).

NaOnka is unlike any other previous castaway. Hands down the most entertaining of the season.. thumbs up to her.

I almost thought Jud (Fabio) was Silas from Weeds... They match to a T.

Last but not least of course, still keeping my eyes on Chase and Benry! One of my reasons for watching Survivor is the studs they cast-

Looking forward to tonight's show because the big split comes, the fire and tribal should be fierce.

At this point I havent read the spoilers But my guess is that the next one to go will be a shocker considering the previews.

I m not really liking the characters this season or at least I have nothing to say bout them and moreover I have nobody to root for.

Bring back Natalie Vs Russell THAT was fun LOL

Actually for me Russel created the most boring Survivors ever. I even stopped watching show 1 that he was on because there was too, too, too much air time for him and most everyone else got lost in editing. I am truly sorry they are bringing his sorry skanky ass back for the next one with Rob Marciano.

Yeah I second ur thoughts with his season. He got wayy too much airtime

But if you look back knowing she actually topped him in the end is pretty ironic, and the fact he's still upset bout it + his hate over sandra makes him so pathetic that I actually wanna see him back against Natalie... just for fun...

she's dull thats right, but the Russel's sitution in the end was funny. He just can"t get over it. yeah she's dumb but she won and he lost, and that's what makes him so mad. And that what is what I found funny.

That said, there were muchhh better seasons than the samoa one for sure !!

I loved Natalie but she was a non-presence for 95% of the show. There was absolutely no "Russell vs. Natalie" during Samoa; the season was edited to make Russell look golden and to make casual viewers feel that he got robbed due to a bitter jury who rewarded a chick who "did nothing." Even the FTC was edited to make Natalie's victory look like the result of Erik's speech and not anything she did herself, despite Laura claiming that Natalie was the one who stole the money from Mick during the FTC.

And because Russell was on the next season, he stole screentime from EVERYBODY ELSE that season too. Which is why Samoa will probably go down as my least favorite Survivor ever, even though the castaways seemed interesting before the show debuted.

That's why, even if people think Nicaragua is "boring" or its characters are "boring" (which I personally don't agree with), I still prefer to see and get introduced to all sixteen/twenty players on a season and hear from them because it's their game/journey. Everybody on the current season has a story arc except for K. Shinn. For a twenty person cast, that's damn incredible.

Good editing can save a bad cast much more than a good cast can save bad editing. In other words, Nicaragua vs. Samoa; I know which one I'll prefer to rewatch in two years.

I just want Chase, Sash and Benrie in speedos in HD close-ups

is that too much to ask, C B fucking S?

This is a spoiler --------------------------------------

Brenda went away looking like the most arrogant and stupid player just about ever. How she did nothing when she was even told that they had the votes to oust her. She chose to hang with Sash and Chase (even though she has belittled him in drs). I assume, though she never asked, she thought Sash would give her the idol. Pa-Pow-Pow-Pow-Pow-Pow (Ba-BBBooooooooMMMMM!!!).

I really love this season, and I love Chase's wobbly knees, and weaker heart. The guy is the perfect dolt and his sense of direction is non-existent. He was so into getting Benry out.

Jane is amazing. That she hung there long enough to best those guys was inspiring.

I have gone back and watched some of the Survivors from the past but I just don't think I have the stomach to watch a Russell show again, never want to see those 2 seasons. I will begin to watch the next Survivor in hopes they tone down their Russellmania.

From the previews we are in for another NoNookie show.

Did anyone else notice fabio in the immunity necklace in next week's preview?

Naonka is definitely consistent in that I continue to not understand any of her motivations.

Yeah. She is a strange player. Whatever she does next week is the killer for her crazy ass self.

Sash covered his ass by voting Brenda out. I guess he and Chase thought better of hanging with her. That girl is playing a game of outwit, outplay and it was beneath her to scramble. Jeff was kinder to her than I thought he would be. And again, TC opens up the loser to make stupid remarks before the vote. When she looked at Sash with those big brown eyes and he just looked back, I think that was when she realized she was toast. He didn't give her the idol.
