Survivor 22: Redemption Island

The prize money for the winning couple of TAR is a mill.|

Wow, that's.... kind of ridiculous actually, even if it IS split among two people. If I were guaranteed to win either show, I'd much rather race around the world for twenty days than be locked in the BB house for ninety.

TAR races are always longer than 20 days, even the dreaded family edition took longer to finish. Plus leg winners get prizes - trips and cars last season.

I was just going off of Wikipedia's filming dates for each season. TAR Unfinished Business filmed from November 20 to December 12, for example, and TAR17 was May 26 to June 15. It looks like each season was around 20-22 days, at least for the last several recent seasons.

Personally I think I would have the most trouble dealing with Big Brother only because it's the longest of the three shows. I would totally see myself being bored out of my fucking mind and start talking to myself and having "conversations" with people on Sucks or here.

Actually it isn't ridiculous at all that the prize money is a mil. The race is far more entertaining that Survivor even on it's worst day, and it is as hard in it's own way as Survivor. the tasks that have to be done on TAR are challenging, and even getting from one place to the other can be as daunting as playing Survivor with people whose minds are as lame as their souls.

I get that people on TAR get stressed out from the constant racing and they might not eat on a normal schedule, but I really can't see how that's worse than starving to death on a cup of rice per day and having it rain on you for days at a time. Survivor is by far the toughest of the three physically IMO, even these days where the contestants are spoiled much more than in the early seasons. And I'd say that's why it has the biggest payout for a single contestant of the three.

I mean, really....

Let's put it this way: there is no amount of money that would make me want to spend 3 months locked in a house with the (mostly) racist/sexist/homophobic degenerates they cast on Big Brother. Compared to that, a million bucks to race around the world for a few weeks is an obscene luxury.

Have you seen TAR. The challenges are sometimes very difficult. Swin in ice water, eat horrible food and lots of it, jump off mountains, race down mtns on bikes, walk and dig in cow/pig/horse/donkey to find hidden things, trying to travel in countries where you don't speak their language, visit cities that have starving people begging on the street, driven by drivers who don't know where the hell they are going -

Plus you start the next leg 12 hours after you've finished the previous one. Sleep deprivation can really take its toll on you, you know how shutting off your brain to sleep would only be more difficult. And those 12 hours aren't all yours - production may need you for voice overs, inserts to scenes etc. And those 12 hours aren't always at night either.

And the next leg of the race may start at 3/4/5 in the morning, and you have to keep track of the meager amount of money they allot you for taxis, etc. stressing to get on the first flight, or trying to catch up when you missed the last flight.

All in all, this Survivor season ended well for me. I wasn't disappointed in the finale. The cast wasn't top notch but it was fairly entertaining. Russell sent home was worth it alone.

Yes. I revert to homewrecking when I'm sad, and I'm sad because Jameka...Jameka...Jameka coulda took the $5000 but she didn't!

I thought the reunion show was dull. They never really answered Phillip's question of whether he is a federal agent, just because they bring someone that was there at the training doesn't mean that he is a federal agent.

Also, they barely talked to the rest of the cast. I am surprised Grant cut off his dreads.

It's more like "Jeff didn't talk to any of the pre-merge boots except Russell, but that's expected because they were all women and he hates those."

Honestly I think Nicaragua's reunion might have been worse. Because watching it, you would have thought that Terry Bradshaw, Boston Rob, Russell and Na'onka's mom were all contestants on that season.

Don't worry, there's still time for you to become a contestant on American's Next Top Model!!

Yep, that's the part I don't know about until the contestants (incl. the winners) over so many seasons did post-race interviews. Some said they went 3 days w/o sleep b/c even on the planes, trains they were working out logistics, etc. And I'll never forget Jonathan almost beating up his own wife (Victoria) on-camera. Some, disturbing shit. Now that I think about it, I believe that both TAR and Survivor are equally difficult.

Oh I forgot to mention it, but Rob winning was the only tolerable outcome this season. And that reunion show was among the worst ever.

Rob deserved to win, he played the game better than anyone else there.
