Survivor 22: Redemption Island

I can't see anybody but Matt winning the fan favorite vote this season though. I think he's even my mom's favorite (and she's a pretty average casual viewer, although she hated Russell, to her credit), and she defended him when I said he'd be the worst winner because he won so many duels.

Vomit. Even several players liked Fabio and he only needed three immunities to get to the finals, unlike Matt only having ties to Andrea and needing to win, like, seventeen immunities to get to the end.

I really wish Phillip had gotten the boot tonight. David deserves to spend a few days alone with him.

Haha! I know, right? Love seeing David's (as a juror) very animated facial expressions as he hears stories about Philip in tribal council. Priceless!

David would vote Philip out of the jury pool...if he could.

After reading some reactions to this episode on other forums, another thing that I can't stand about this season is the whole "Zapatera doomed themselves by voting off Russell" contrived storyline that Jeff keeps reinforcing in recaps and such, and that casual fans are totally buying. Like, yeah, so Zapatera DIDN'T win the very next immunity challenge after they voted him off?

Blarghgrhrghghghrgh.

UGH! I know right? Also Zapatera would have eventually lost another challenge and voted Russell off anyway. Either way, they didn't go into the merge just one vote less than Ometepe (and Matt didn't vote with them) so they'd be screwed numerically anyway, even if Russell had stayed. And that's almost a guarantee given 1) how much Rob hates Russell and 2) how much control Rob has over his tribe.

Jeff's recaps/thoughts on the show are never worth reading. It always amazes me that one could know so little about a show one has hosted for over a decade.

What Happened ???

the whole episode was ridiculous....

Via True Dork Times, how the rest of the show's schedule will turn out:
Ep. 11 (4/27): 8 people remain in the game proper. Duel runs like this week. 3rd place finisher finishes in 11th place, and goes to jury. TC this episode is double somehow. Either they have a quickie challenge at TC for the second vote, or no one has immunity for the second vote.

Ep. 12 (5/4): 6 people remain in the game proper. Four-way duel, and the 3rd/4th place finishers become 10th/9th place on the jury. The rest of the episode plays out as normal.

Ep. 13 (5/11): 5 people remain in the game proper. No duel, and the family visit reward is held instead. IC called "Bone to Pick" is held.

Ep. 14/ Finale (5/15): 4 people remain in the game proper. The four remaining people on RI compete in a four way duel. The three losers get eliminated becoming 8th/7th/6th on the jury. The winner returns to the game. Episode then plays out the same as normal 5 person finales with a F3 have played out in the past.

Holy fucking LOL at the disaster that is this season if that's true. The scheduling of Redemption Island post-merge in particular is a clusterfuck of epic proportions. I was actually okay with the idea of RI when it was announced, but after seeing it in action... no. Just NO. It needs to fuck off after this season.

And Matt could totally win this shit if he re-enters the game at Final 5. (Not a spoiler that he does, just me speculating.) JUB doesn't have a board emoticon strong enough to express my disgust at that thought.

Let me put it in a way that you of all people will appreciate (in terms of how horrible it would be if Matt wins). Matt is to Survivor Redemption Island as Lauren Alaina is to American Idol.

I can only handle the rest of the season because Phillip and Matt's ramblings caused me to rediscover this nifty little button on my remote control called "Mute."

Matt, with the sound off, allows me to focus on his sex on a stick legs and not roll my eyes away from the screen over the constant proselytizing of "God" and "Lord Jesus."

Rob is loading the jury with enemies.
Phillip doesn't even have one of Matt's prayers-in-hell chances.
Matt in the final against anyone, except Rob, would most likely win the votes.

Then the live finale show would begin to resemble an episode of The 700 Club?

"Praise Jesus, Matt has donated all his winnings to the church and the greater glory of Christ."

And yet, STILL not nearly as bad as watching Russell win.

Amen

Shalom

Well, at least something is entertaining me this season... I particularly love how he manages to misspell Phillip TWO different ways!

Will Ralph's track record become 2-7 or 3-6 next week? So far, he's managed to get "Grant" and "Rob" right.

(Also, I'm not impressed by CBS's online content at all this season. Up to Nicaragua, tribal council voting videos actually contained the voting confessionals; now they just flash through each person holding up the votes.)

If you can't handle the overbearing douchiness to watch the entire thing, I want to zero in on this:
"Julie hiding the shorts... I was surprised how many of you thought that was funny. I guess maybe it's just a different point of view. I think a lot of things "go" in Survivor, it is "Outwit, outplay, outlast," but when you have so little clothing, and you have very few what we call "personal items" on the show, to steal somebody's shorts and to hide them, to me, is what we call off-limits."

Okay Probst. When Russell burns Jaison's socks, it's because HE'S A MASTERMIND! When Rupert steals and sells the Morgan tribe's shoes, he's oh so entertaining and hilarious! But when Julie buries a pair of shorts, what she's done is "off-limits" and "surprising." What a hypocritical twit. I hope he's happy that his boner for Rob, Russell and Redemption Island are reasons why this season is so awful. And this is coming from a Boston Rob fan.

Don't watch Survivor anymore...but thought I'd pop in and let you Survivor fans know that Robb from Survivor:Thailand I believe it was is part of the cast of Vh1's new reality show "Saddle Ranch" about the famous Hollywood bar...he's one of the bartenders...I thought he looked familiar...so I looked it up and others found him familiar too and they figured out it was Robb from Survivor...just without his long hair

I like the RI twist but it doesn't work with a large cast, as you can see from the schedule. I liked the two people duels better. RI will only work with a smaller cast possibly the 16 person cast.

Just kind of a ho-hum season IMO. The most amusing thing to me is Ralph's spelling on his votes. Dude is hopeless. LOL

Oh, puhleaze, there's no way in hell Phillip found those shorts without the film crew pointing the rock out to him.

Fuck. Andrea is probably going tonight. I'm pretty sure there's going to be a double boot.

Well, I'm officially supporting and hoping that Rob wins this shit. Matt will be the worst. winner. ever. and he's the only other viable candidate at this point IMO unless there's a WTF invisible Natalie win.

ETA: I found it intriguing that the camera lingered on Natalie when Ashley and her were talking to Rob about Steve making a "big move." Natalie's only confessional so far as has been about doing exactly that. Could have just been a reaction shot though. Meh.

edit. storm coverage locally is causing me to miss some of the show

Okay, I think they've made Andrea being booted too obvious in this episode. I think she'll win immunity and Steve will go. Hooray Zombietepe domination.

ETA: Rob wins immunity. Steve votes Grant. Everyone else votes Steve.

Typical Survivor foreshadowing. They wouldn't have shown Natalie (in ep 2) saying "I'm gonna make big moves" (something like that) unless she was going to do exactly that. She'll pull the trigger real soon.
