Survivor 28: Brawn, Brains and Beauty

I also REALLY hope Sarah was being legit about cutting her ties with New Solana because New Aparri is clearly the superior tribe. She has the ability to totally fuck up this season for good if she goes running back to Tony at the merge.

Tell me about it. I want the Brains to be the F3 SO bad just for the comeback narrative.

It's just too bad J'tiangel couldn't have survived one more tribal council. :'( Tasha, Kass and J'Tia would have been the best final three possibly ever.

CBS: Survivor, 2.3 share/7 rating, 9.85m viewers
FOX: American Idol (8-10PM), 2.2 share/7 rating, 9.33m viewers

I know I keep bringing this up but it warms my heart so much to see Survivor winning but also AI crashing and burning.

No argument here. I'd gladly switch Spencer out for J'Tia or (even better) Garrett. ;)

No argument here period.

That's been an amazng season so far

Alexis cryin like a lil girl and Morgan all cheered up bout that made my day !!

Sarah is sooooo going back with tony at the merge thats not even funny.
I liked her but gilr you need to move ur lazy ass and startegize ON UR OWN !!!

ANyway Tony and LJ both having idols is pretty fucked up for the Aparri tribe

Wow SO many bad moves by so many people resulting in a great/unpredictable episode of fuckery!

First Sarah proves what a grade A moron she is (how is this woman a cop?) by insisting that Tony and LJ don't have idols and refusing to consider the totally reasonable option of voting out Jeffra. Then Kass proves she's not as smart as she thinks she is by telling Sarah she doesn't trust her, taking it WAY too personally when they're all trying to get Sarah's vote (you dumbass, just use Sarah's vote now and vote her out later!), and flipping on her alliance -- where she was likely locked in a 3-Brains core -- for a bottom-of-the-totem pole position on another tribe (and oh yeah losing all the Apparri jury votes in the process). Then Tony takes up the flaming baton in this parade of game-ineptitude by insisting he can get Sarah when it's already clear she's not onboard with him and wasting his idol...on SOMEONE ELSE. And then LJ's all "Pass that baton bro" and wastes his own idol on Tony when it's clear they're not voting for Tony anyway! Wow. I still wish Kass hadn't flipped because I want the brains to go all the way and it would've been awesome to see LJ and Tony get a proper smackdown after playing their idols, but lord knows I won't miss annoying Sarah and her stupid honking voice.

And I haven't even gotten to the most awesome part where Trish was TOTALLY ON THE MONEY AND SAVED THEIR ASSES by reading the Kass/Sarah feud correctly, thereby making her the smartest player out of all of them.

I'm going to go ahead and say it.…

At this point, I have the feeling the winner of Survivor: Cagayan will be … LJ.

On the 04.02.2014 episode, Kass destroyed herself. And with doing that she also took down her original Brains tribe mates Spencer and Tasha and her aligned original Beauties Jeremiah and Morgan. She did this because she was insecure about Sarah and had no real thought long term. Earlier episodes gave me the impression that Kass may handle herself—and the game—very well. But that was a false reading by me. Kass has no understanding of Survivor. Her emotionally motivated reason for eliminating Sarah is an example why we these get editions of Survivor where a good fraction of those cast are not competitive.

The ones who had a minority in numbers played like they had the will to win over power. The ones who had a majority in numbers self-destructed. Tasha tried with the two (Kass and Sarah). But Spencer, so adept in his reading in previous episodes of Alexis, failed to pick up on the danger. (And this was foreshadowed with his early confessional revealing his assumption that his group would easily win out.) Jeremiah and Morgan are ignored by the series. Those two just don't register. (I don't care to check out footage of what moments of either of them did not appear on screen that may be available on the Internet. Typically when there are "absent" personalities among the cast of a given Survivor, it means none of them will win.)

Among the group that showed they have the will to win over power, Tony mugs for the camera and has a good time. But I don't think he's spearheading anything yet. Woo is along for the ride. Jefra isn't a heavy. And the one who is lately most shrewd, calculating, and executing moves that succeed, and pay off, is Trish. Credit her for ousting Cliff. Credit her for making poor Lindsey cry and throw in the towel. And credit Trish for telling Tony that, in case he can't persuade Sarah, she will approach Kass. (Tony dismissed it as not important. Trish talked with Kass anyway and returned to inform her group, very much alerting Tony, that the target of their collective vote needed to be Sarah.) Yes, this was the determined Trish playing damn good Survivor.

I am coming to the part where I sense the Final Three being among that group with the will to win over power. If LJ makes it to Final Three, he will win. He is handling himself in a way that is not controversial. He is smart in handling himself as well as handling the environment and the people around him. He seems low-key. He has a good amount of luck. He can win over those juror votes. What—or, more direct, who—would kill his game is if Trish figures him out and senses she wouldn't win the game against him. That she may come off, for some, as too abrasive while LJ may seem golden. Good thing, so far for LJ, is that he and Trish bonded over their Boston, Massachusetts backgrounds.

Kass has been questionable all game, honestly, because this is not the first time she's said stupid things right to peoples' faces (the first example that comes to mind is when she said that she was voting for J'Tia at the first Luzon tribal to J'Tia herself), which is bad for her as a player but good for me as a viewer.

Tasha was doing the right thing by trying to pacify the swing vote but of course Kass took that as Tasha "not being on her side." LOL And what's frustrating is that the show FRAMED that as Tasha being in the wrong so that makes me seriously doubt HER winner chances when she's the one I want to win the most.

And then there's Trish but the last three or so seasons have proven that nobody will vote for a middle-aged woman if she plays "mean" i.e. strategically. Right Lisa, Dawn, Sherri, Monica??

Oh Kass...such a dumb move. No one will ever look at that and say what a great strategic play. She was so pissed at Sarah. Oh well, it should make next week pretty interesting.

I am curious what power this new immunity idol will have.

That is one of the very few things that seems to be spoiled about this season. Everyone on the message boards somehow seems to know that the "special power" is that the idol works exactly like Terry and Yul's idols did in their seasons (those idols were different than the current ones; they could be used after Jeff had read the votes). Maybe Jeff spilled that tidbit in a pre-show interview or something.

They did a preview show on tvg and Jeff said the idol could be used after the votes were read. Please don't let Tony find it. A little of him goes a long long way.

I kinda knew Cass would vote Sarah after she couldn't give up what she thought was bullying by Sarah and then she felt she was being ganged up on. Her smug look when the final vote was read, and then she was read by Spencer and her alliance. We'll see how it plays out, but it would have been a much better tribal if Tony and LJ had played their idols to no avail. Now no one has one and everyone wants the special one. I wonder if either of the played idols will be in play again. Survibor loves to have a ton of idols stuck in holes and under rocks.

Spencer and LJ are my picks but who knows with this crazed, albeit entertaining group..

Clusterfuck seasons like this one, Gabon, Nicaragua, etc. tend to have the WTF/non-strategic/"non-deserving" winners because all of the more aggressive players cannibalize each other... so honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Woo randomly won.

At this point, I have the feeling the winner of Survivor: Cagayan will be … LJ.

That outcome is very possible -- especially if he or Tony find the Idol of Grayskull or whatever the fuck -- but it would be such a blah ending to a great season. LJ's not a bad guy but my god he's boring. It's like how Hayden actually played a great game on Big Brother but was so thoroughly uninteresting throughout the season, that I found myself rooting against him. Not Hayden on Survivor mind you. That guy was kinda cool.

Also LJ's win would just make Probst too happy for my taste.

Tasha is clearly the best player out of the Brains and I still think she has a chance to outlast the rest of them and actually win. If LJ/Tony/Trish keep the upper-hand next week, I see Spencer going first. Doesn't Tasha seem like the kind of player who remains after her entire alliance is deccimated and then the ax swings to bigger players so everyone kinda forgets she's there? She gets along so easily with people, I could see that happening.

My dream scenario (and the best play for Trish) would be for her alliance to retain the upper-hand via Kass and vote out Spencer/Jeremiah/Morgan. Then she should corral a new alliance with her pilates crew (Trish/Tasha/Jeffra/Kass) to form a majority and vote out LJ/Tony/Woo. I doubt her love for LJ will let her do it, but she has the game to pull it off if she can keep her eye on the prize.

Also slip, apparently Jeff did talk about the special idol in an interview early in the season and I believe he also tweeted about it, so that's how everyone knows. It sucks because that idol really is WAY too powerful. The benefit of it allowing Yul to win (whom I loved) is outweighed by the debit of someone like Terry getting to F3 and almost winning (whom I loathed). I hate that they're reintroducing it when the conceit of having to play the idol after the votes are cast but before they are read made the idol and the game way more interesting.

You pretty much said everything.

It's still a good season but somehow, after watching last episode I'm disappointed because I dont recognize the values I liked before in Survivor.

Last episode was pretty muche a battle of egos ! Sarah, LJ, Tony, Kass, Trsih they all have a HUGEEEE Ego and they all want to be "the most agressive and most strategic player of all time" they dont want to win !!

At this point Tasha & Morgan are my fav coz they are keeping low profile

Kass is an attention whore calling hersel "chaoskass" WTF ?!?!? Like tasha said at the beginning of the season "get outta here"

I was so glad Jefra stayed, that girl is so cute, Sarah you brought on your own downfall by getting too cocky. I would love if they got rid of Kass next, she is terrible to watch.

What do we think of this, Morgan?

Morgan is another reason I wanted the Brains to stay united and gain the upper hand. I just like more people on that side than I do on Tony & LJ's team (minus Trish of course, who is awesome).

The only hope now is for Spencer to find the super duper idol and bounce Tony/LJ from the game.

I know you edited your post but we're not always on the same page. For example, we could rank the guys on this season in terms of hotness. ;)

Okay, other than that we are pretty much always on the same page though. Your idea of Trish forming a new alliance of all of the women in the pilates crew? Perfection.

For example, we could rank the guys on this season in terms of hotness. ;)

I lost my hard-on for LJ because he's SOOO boring. Ditto Woo. Jeremiah is a big gaping hole of nothing, Tony has personality but...not a likable one and definitely not hot (though I fear he's exactly your type LOL) and Spencer is a pale, squinty douche-canoe. The only guy I thought was HOT was Garrett. Dat ass!

Seriously, Tony does it for you, doesn't he? :p

LJ and Jeremiah are definitely vessels of nothing. Out of the two I think I like Jeremiah's looks more actually because LJ's eyes are just so empty. Woo doesn't get much screentime but I like him as cute background noise and he's easily one of the hotter (maybe the hottest?) guys left.

I was noticing Tony's body in last night's episode. He's kind of hitting a sweet spot I like where there's some muscle but also still some fat, which is rare. I would say he is just okay. He's above Spencer's pale ass for me, anyway.

So actually... yes, we agree that Garrett was the hottest of the season. I'm not normally into the super muscular types but the ass is undeniable, which is why I liked Eddie the most in Caramoan too.
