Survivor - Fans vs. Favorites

I was going to edit this in but I ran out of time. Cochran winning unanimously is just so... Dawn handled FTC much better than I ever would have thought she would and I wish she had gotten a vote for it to grab second place. I don't mind Brenda making her take out her teeth because Dawn was brave enough to do it and back up her talk, but I DO mind that neither Malcolm or Brenda voted for Dawn and that Erik was acting like Sherri was a bigger piece of flotsam being carried away by the tide than he was.

OH also, the fact that Brenda was voted out just before two quits and a medevac across her two seasons is very frustrating.

I think the Erik medical thing was fake. His BP was in the normal range and he's in starvation mode after eating how ever many luxury meals. I think it was staged to make the season not a total disaster and not mess up the jury.

I just think Brenda is better than that (or should be) and it was so obviously just a way to humiliate someone she was still pissed at and had ZERO intention of voting for. Judging by Malcolm's comment when he cast his vote -- and his advice to Dawn at the start which she DID heed -- he was the only one who went in there intending to vote for Dawn which...bless his heart. That more than makes up for his bitter jury performance with Denise last season.

Like I said many times before, Dawn's emotional instability was her undoing. I don't even think it was the lying and backstabbing (only Brenda and Corrine were really personally affected by that) but moreso that people don't want to be around unstable manic-depressives who cry all the time. You really don't know until you've had to spend time with someone like that in real life just how emotionally draining it is, and how much you DON'T want to reward them, much less with a million dollars. That's why I knew Dawn wouldn't get a single vote.

But having said that I was SO impressed with her jury performance. She definitely avoided all the pitfalls I thought she'd succumb to and she owned her gameplay like a champ. Had she not been mind-numbingly irritating to be around, she likely would've gotten a vote or two.

Cochran winning unanimously is just so...

I'm curious slip, why do you dislike Cochran so much? I mean I enjoy ragging on him and comparing him to Ursula cuz he's such an easy reality show target, but I really don't hate him. I didn't care for him on South Pacific but I thought he was more enjoyable this time around and while I don't think he did as much this season as he thinks he did, he played well enough and he definitely aced his jury performance.

I have to admit though I WAS kinda rooting for Eddie to pull it out at the end there just because 1) it would've been such a great Jordan from Big Brother kinda win and 2) a doggy bar.

Cochran is just a'ight for me, dawg. I never really disliked him. It's more a combination of Jeff overemphasizing EVERYTHING about him all season-long and his more recent, ridiculously cocky confessionals that needlessly insult everybody else, as if Cochran himself is so fucking great, that have annoyed the hell out of me. ESPECIALLY Jeff with this running joke bullshit of Cochran being good at challenges when he won an eating challenge, a card stacking challenge and then two other challenges in which he had HUGE, almost unfair, advantages.

I also didn't find his game to be so impressive to the point that he deserved being the second person to play a perfect game ever. OH and I really hate ties due to the F3 existing, hence wanting one of Dawn/Sherri to break Cochran's unanimous vote, even if only by one.

Also, re: Brenda. Ever since the episode aired, I thought the fact that Dawn was flailing about, claiming she'd pull herself from the game over her missing retainer, was absolutely ridiculous and in that respect I'm glad Brenda was willing to go there and ask Dawn if she'd really quit over vanity and then forced her to prove it. I found that part necessary. Doing it just to humiliate Dawn, of course, was not. But as nasty as it was... I actually found Brenda not voting for her to be sort of epic and an ultimate "FUCK YOU" for Dawn creating such a bitter juror. But yeah, I do wish Brenda handled it better, even though it made for amazing TV.

BTW I guess people like Francesca and Corinne getting a lot of airtime this season, feuding with someone else who got a lot of airtime this season, and generally being entertaining and giving good voice-overs didn't mean shit since they didn't even get a chance to talk during the reunion? WTF? That was seriously the WORST reunion show ever and that's a pretty low bar to scale. I guess I should just be grateful we didn't see any of Brandon either (or any Hantz for that matter).

Oh god that title. I just can't. :lol::lol: Like, the expression doesn't even WORK like that.

SPEAKING of horrible things from the reunion show:

They all look so thrilled to not only sitting in the audience, which was a first, but also getting less screentime than Boston Rob, Rudy and a random tween, none of whom were even on this season.

ETA: Sgt Pepper beat me to this topic because we secretly share the same brain, except when it comes to taste in men.

And even that's something we're starting to share because I'm totally on board the Eddie train now. Also, I like how Eddie tried to explain EMT procedure to Erik and still managed to sound like he didn't know what he was talking about.

Cochran looked hot at the reunion. There we go, separated again!

BTW Eddie looked much better unshaven compared to his jury appearance.

I'm not even touching that one...literally or figuratively.

As for the mangling of the blood/water idiom, I think it's clear that Survivor producers (oh who am I kidding, PROBST) failed their Verbal SAT's. Remember when they kept using "mutiny" incorrectly?

OH also, imagine if this season had a F2, and it ended up between Dawn vs. Sherri? The jury would probably just slit their own throats and make that Blood vs. Water title a reality.

I bet you anything they'd have gotten over their Sherri-did-nothing meme and voted for her en masse as the anti-Dawn. Seriously. That's how much I think Dawn tanked her own game way back in life when she inherited the crazy genes. And that's also why I MUCH prefer F2.

I agree. He looks cuter as a Jew.

According to Eddie himself, he looked like a muscular werewolf. Either way: yes, please.

Ugh Eddie is so much hotter than him. My guy thinks Taylor Lautner is like the hottest man alive. It makes me wonder what he's doing with me when I'm 15 years and losing 40 pounds away from being Michael from this season.

And yes, I said on the last page that I thought if he had made the finals, Eddie would have gotten the three guys and probably Andrea. All would have taken is just one more vote, or any combination of split votes between the other two finalists, for Eddie to win. After seeing how Erik just passed out and got carted off minutes after Brenda was axed, she would have been in the same scenario. I'll give Cochran credit, he did position himself to be in the finals with the exact two he NEEDED to be there.

Because if your guy actually had to talk to Taylor Lautner, he'd give up peen altogether.

Slip, I really think if Eddie had won the final immunity, he would've won the whole thing like a Jordan-from-Big-Brother idiot savant. I see him getting Reynold/Malcolm/Michael/Andrea easily and just needing one more. Your thoughts?

I'd give Cochran credit, he did position himself to be in the finals with the exact two he NEEDED to be there.

And he really did work that jury shamelessly. He sucked them all off, made them all laugh, and reminded them that he had to manage all of Dawn's crazy. To me he was the kind of super-fan I could stomach winning as opposed to Ian Terry on BB last season.

Also LOL @ one of my friends who watched the finale with me and thought the blood in the water image was a promo for Hannibal which 1) has nothing to do with Survivor and 2) is on a completely different network.

She was seriously trying to figure out what Hannibal Lecter had to do with the next Survivor location ("Is there a Cannibal Islands?") before I finally stopped chuckling and told her about the stupid new family theme.

The rumored cast for S27 is changing around, like, daily. But it seems like Gervase from Borneo is going to be on... which, OMG, somebody from BORNEO again! No wonder they devoted like half the reunion to a season one recap and Rudy.
