Swerve's BIG SUMMER ADVENTURE!!!

I think you should take a cross country trip & record as much as possible & show it all here in JUB ;)

Thanks Ted! Very cool. Is your brother a vegetarian as well. I was curious to know if it is possible to be a vegetarian in the military.

Unfortunately, he was UNTIL he joined the Navy... #-o

How one starts eating meat after 19 years of NOT eating meat -- I don't know...

I suspect it is POSSIBLE to be a vegetarian -- but not practical...

He made sure that they had a case of Black Bean Burgers on board for us visitors... ..|

:):):)

Haven't had a chance to read your blog yet swerve, but I like the pics.

The one of you holding the gun is cool.

Yeah -- its a really Really REALLY LOOOOOONG blog -- but I wanted to encapsulate my experience as best I could...

And...

I FIGURED that YOU and GOOGLE (Kenny) would like the GUNS!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

Your mention of the endorphins released when shooting the guns. That reminds me of the rush that the people from the vietnam war mentioned that they got used to and had trouble fitting back into society...so they created the hell's angels to try and get that rush back.

I hope that the iraqi vetrans find a healthy way to deal with it when they come back. I just saw a movie about the Iraq war yesterday and one of the characters in it had the same problem. I wonder what is going to happen when we are done over there. How will these people be able to cope?

How were they with disposal? Did they dump everything into the ocean? Did they pick up the target when you were done?

I'm surprised that they had trouble with that gun. You would think that they would make sure that it was in working order at all times.

Wow...that granade thing is scarry....so that means that about 50% of the grenades they throw out there never explode. Do they float or sink? I wonder if the movement of the Ocean or the wildlife can make them go off later? Eeeekkkk.

I'm finding your blog fascinating. Thanks again for putting it together.

I don't mean to be offensive, but in regards to only 2/3 of naval ships being battle ready, I wonder if that is a bad thing. If all of them were battle ready, that would make it that much more expensive to maintain.

I have no idea. I question whether our military needs to be as large as it is when you look at how much we spend on defense when compared to all of the other countries. With modern warfare, do you need lots and lots of ships? Weapons are so much bigger and technolgically advanced than in previous wars.

I question whether we will be able to maintain such a large military over the long haul, especially as we move away from being THE world power.

Wow! I did not realize how big that 5" gun was until you did that group photo.

Yeah Dolphins!!! :)

Swerve,
Traveling is an important part of good maturity. It is so formative. I am glad for your blog, and soon, (I promise) I will comment on parts of it. Thanks for the effort. You are one good JUBber.
