I'm gonna steal this from reddit;

What kind of music do you like to listen to usually?

I'm not trying to squash any stereotypes with the queer community, and music choice, but.

Just some background, I'm a gay feminine black american/african man in my late 20s.

I'm gonna use modern or current songs as examples. As it's more simpler that way for me.

My all time favorite is any type of urban contemporary R&B/Hip Hop soul/neo soul/smooth jazz for example.

Then the next would be more uptempo urban contemporary R&B/soul.

Also maybe like some industrial R&B too.

Then the next would be like kinda more obscure pop rap like this.

The next tier would be like a funk/disco. For example

What kind of music do you like?

The next would be more hard smooth house dance music

Then would be more soft smooth house or deep house/disco

Then next would be like R&B influenced rock electro/dance pop.

Then the next step would be Blues

Sometimes Punk rock

Re: What kind of music do you like?

Sometimes like a fusion of punk rock and R&B

Sometimes I like College rock/indie/alternative

Also sort of more electro Indie dance or urban indie music

Jazz rock/Jazz Fusion

Finally I like anything that is probably a mixture of everything. I mentioned above. Like R&B, world music, indie, rock, etc.

I also like music from the 60s/70s/80s and 90s that also fall in the above choices. But I just wanted to give more modern examples.

I'm also scared that I left stuff out, but I think I've covered everything.

I'll sometimes listen to country music, avant grade music, KPOP, JPOP, latin pop, contemporary classical instrumental music too.

If I didn't mention a type of music, most likely I don't like it.

I'm not at all into hard rock, emotional rock, heavy metal, trap, dubstep, hardcore rap, techno, hardcore EDM, sappy dream pop music etc. Basically if I didn't mention anything that falls above, then I probably won't like it.

Okay, so that's what I like in music.

Re: What kind of music do you like?

Mostly catchy pop music.

And a lot of Queercore bands.

Plus of course, The Ladies.

Re: What kind of music do you like?

Almost everything with the exception of (most) rap.

But I mainly listen to 'classical' music from all periods; medieval, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, modern, etc, etc.

A list of my favourite composers would be endless as I discover great new music every day.

I'm also a total metal-head; the more extreme the better. \m/

And I like good pop music, but there hasn't been much of that about for the past few decades.

Re: What kind of music do you like?

If my iPod is any indicator of taste in music, I have about 600 track of what can be considered "pop" music (or what was considered pop music at the time of the release) and about 3000 track of "classical" music, from Monteverdi and Bach to Bernstein and Stravinski, with a lot of Handel and Chopin mixed in...

Re: What kind of music do you like?

Steal it from reddit? This is a rather common topic on all forums. I listen to almost any genre tbh, but my favorite genres are extreme metal and hardcore punk and anything aggressive. Such as:

Actually I love all music from around the world.

Re: What kind of music do you like?

Eagles, Simon and Garfunkel.

Re: What kind of music do you like?

Rock, alt rock and classic rock. I'm not a fan of screaming rock or heavy metal

Re: What kind of music do you like?

A number of different styles (listed in no particular order)
Rock/alt-rock/classic-rock/metal/industrial/pop/dance/house/club/techno/county/(even some rap--like some of the 80's/early 90's stuff)

Re: What kind of music do you like?

R&B/Funk/Jazz/Smooth Jazz/Rock/Dance/Artists that write their own stuff and play the guitar and sing....

Today....some of what I listened to in the car...I make all my own tapes....loved all of these songs since they were originally released....never get tired of them...

I usually listen to different music everyday but the genres are the same.

I know some of the stuff I like is considered "gay music"...and some people feel like it is an insult. Not for me..I am gay...I like alot of "gay music"...no shame..no apologies....

Re: What kind of music do you like?

I listen to Classical more than anything else.

Yesterday evening I attended a concert with Jonas Kaufmann singing Shubert's "Die Schone Mullerin":

On the rap front what do you think of Death Grips - if there was one mad group that might get through to you it might just be them.

I have a couple of young friends/acqauintances who are both rappers. Some of their poetry is actually quite good (far better than I could ever write) but the music that they rap over is awful. They should probably focus on the rhymes and forget the music. #-o

Mind you, I've always had a soft spot for Goldie Lookin Chain.

I'm checking out Death Grips at this very moment, currently listening to The Money Store album. They are intriguing; I like some of their music but would prefer it without the rapping. Maybe they should focus on the music and forget the rhymes? #-o
