Thad1527 Appreciation Thread

Hello from Cleveland!
The weather is lovely.
Last night I saw "Dracula,: A Comedy of Terrors." It was quite funny and the local theater company did it quite well. Everyone in the cast (except Count Dracula) played multiple roles and it had lots of pop-cultural references as jokes.
I get frequent emails from Primanti Bros. Their coupons sometimes say " Excludes Florida locations." Hmmm.

Yesterday's brunch at Goody's Family Restaurant in Brook Park, Ohio:

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

It sounds like you're having a great time in Vegas. NHL Hockey, No Kings Day, Pridefest, you're doing a lot out there. I'm sure there's more to come.

Your trip kind of reminded me of this song.

"Guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton..."

Except it's now the Westgate Las Vegas. But I think there's a new Hilton.
My adventure is more Panic at the Disco (who's from Vegas): And this is the Golden Knights' goal song. They play it whenever they score.

Good evening Thad. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Las Vegas.
I bet you're already planning your next one :)

My brother took me to Southern New Jersey Friday, to a place we knew and loved long ago. It's still wonderful.

Good Monday morning, Thad! (*8*)

That's a neat little train at that church camp. I used to love getting on those train rides as a kid. They're probably costly to maintain, so I'm a little surprised to see one at a church camp. The expense is probably why you hardly ever see those train rides anymore, except maybe at the major theme parks.

It's all about volunteers. There's a lot of love there and lots of guys who care. At least right now. There's a new board of directors and there were some ominous signs not long ago.
It's a lovely place.1000000290.jpg

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

Oh yes, the "over the calf" athletic socks. That seems so 80s, back when all the guys and the porn stars wore them with their cute little short shorts.

I hope you had a great Halloween. I found it funny, but the Local MCC made no mention of Halloween, All Saints Day, or Dia de los Muertos, even though both the pastor and assistant pastor have young Mexican husbands. I guess it probably has something to do with the fact that they came from pentecostal backgrounds, who regard Halloween as the "devil's holiday." But they did have a Christmas tree decorating party last night, way too early, I think. I had to make the hard decision on whether to attend that, and miss the end of the Florida-Georgia game last night. I reluctantly decided to go, since I need to get out of the house and socialize more, though I kept checking the score on my cell phone. BTW, the assistant pastor's husband is a cutey pie:luv2:. I had to check my lust at the door.

That Bible camp looks like a really nice pastoral setting, and I love that train. Some of those church retreats can be very relaxing, being out in nature and such.

It's music season. Acts are on tour.

My favorite band, Jukebox the Ghost, is playing my favorite venue, Union Transfer in Philadelphia, next Friday. Easy decision to go. They have a new album and this is the "trailer:"

But...my favorite musician, Bright Light Bright Light, is also on tour. Yes, I know it's Rod Thomas under his business name. He's playing in Washington, DC Tuesday. I can go.
I've done more foolish things.
From his album So Gay, So Dramatic;

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

It's great that you could get out to DC to watch Bright Light Bright Light and Cameron Hawthorn. I envy you having that extensive commuter train network that makes it easy for you to attend many events not only in Philadelphia, but also New York, New Jersey, Washington, etc. Here, most of the time I have to figure out if it's worth driving out to events, with congestion, parking headaches, etc. for events in South Florida, and if they're in Tampa or Orlando, you have to figure in a 4 to 5 hour trip, and overnight accommodations, etc.

Good Wednesday morning, Thad! (*8*)

So I see that you're in Cleveland again. I think you spend as much time there as you do at home. Maybe you should get a second residence there.

And I see that you're planning to go to Just Us Boys meetup in Washington. Someone asked about a possible meetup in Florida a couple of months ago, and I made a couple of suggestions. I wasn't going to take on the project myself if nobody was interested. Alas, there was no response. I know there have been meetups in Florida in the past, but nobody seems to want to do it these days.

I'm home. The weekend in Cleveland was a joy.
Friday night I finally saw "Wicked." Just in time for the second part release this week

Saturday we went to the Packard Museum in Warren, Ohio. The first Packard autos were built in Warren, but the factory moved to Detroit after a few years. They continued production until the 1950s. The museum has many wonderful examples.

Saturday night we saw Dianne McIntyre's company as part of Dance Cleveland's program. McIntyre is from Cleveland, internationally known as a dance creator and storyteller.

Sunday we saw a farce, "Over the Moon," at Cuyahoga Community College. It was light fluffy fun and the college actors were charming.

I go to Cleveland to hang out with Rickrock of this forum. We do a lot! I'm going back next month for thr North Coast Men's Chorus holiday concert

Happy Thanksgiving, Thad! (*8*)

So you finally got out to see Wicked. I was supposed to go out with a group of guys to see Wicked 2, but they canceled because one of then got sick. TBH, I suspect it's not going to be as good as the first movie. They've sort of put themselves in a box, with the second movie having to take us from the first Wicked movie to The Wizard of Oz, which will be quite a twist without making the plot seem forced.

Sounds like you caught a lot of acts in Cleveland. The South Florida Gay Men's Chorus is scheduled to do a concert at MCC in December. I'll probably go to that.

Hope you have a nice turkey dinner today.

Happy Thanksgiving Thad! (*8*)

I'm alone for Thanksgiving. It was bringing me down last week but now that it's happened it was just a little bad.

I wanted turkey and in the past Wawa had something called "The Gobbler." Not this year. I settled for a cheese steak an d mac & cheese bowl and I'm burping hours later. Bad decision.

Maybe I'll have an adventure tomorrow. Gotta check the weather.

Good Sunday morning, Thad! (*8*)

Wow, 26 degrees? You must be miserable! I hope you can find something to keep yourself busy.

I'm looking forward to meeting you in person when you fly to Ft. Lauderdale next week. I'll PM you about getting together.
