Thad's Hockey Corner

The 2025-2026 NHL schedule is out. I know because 14 teams e- mailed me.
Tampa Bay was first.
So now to enquire..when's Pride Night?
So far, I've found San Jose's is April 2.

^ I'd love that! I visited Brussels once long ago - 1994 - and would go back for an event like that. Last-minute airfares are the highest, alas.

Luke Prokop, openly gay hockey player, will be playing for the AHL Bakersfield Condors next season. Bakersfield is the Edmonton Oilers' development team. Luke played for the Milwaukee Admirals last season.

The NHL preseason has started!

Trevor Zegras, a favorite in this column, played his first game as a Philadelphia Flyer. It is preseason, the time to try the rookies and newbies. But the Flyers' roster for the game was a collection of "who?" Not many veterans...

I like the Kings, but the first game of the season didn't go their way. It's Kopitar's final season and I hope it's a classic. I like so many Kings players ..Kempe, Fiala, Kuemper, Moore.

Somehow the Kings got the shootout win in Vegas.

I like high-scoring games, so 6-5 keeps me excited. Looks like the Golden Knights will be entertaining when I see them next week.

I like lots of goals. The Golden Knights won, 6-5.

Sometimes when I watch a game I remember players I like. Vegas this season has as lot of them. I liked Colton Sissons in Nashville; now he's in Vegas. I liked goalie Akira Schmidt in New Jersey; now he's in Vegas. Reilly Smith, Jeremy Lauzon too.

But the Bruins were scrappy and did not quit. The Hockey News predicts them last in their division. I think they're crazy.

This is T-Mobile Arena pre-game.
