A new menu item called 'Thankyyou littell f***er' appeared on a family's receipt after their child acted up during a long wait for food. This happened to parents Craig and Kimberley Cartin at a Mexican restaurant in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Visiting the brand new eaterie, called Cactus Joe's, on its opening weekend the family had already been frustrated by slow service and poor food, which caused hungry two-year-old Molly to complain. The couple believe her mild protests triggered the shocking comment - despite being seated in the advertised 'kids' zone'.

According to the child's mother-"Molly started to get restless and a bit impatient. She wanted to get up and walk around but we wouldn't let her so she had a little tantrum.'When we asked for the bill there was another long wait so I went up to pay at the counter and that is when I saw the swear word on the bill.I couldn't believe it. The woman looked really embarrassed and the manager apologised but I could still see people whispering and sniggering."

Restaurant owner Steve Ryan apologised for the message and said the member of staff responsible, believed to be a 29-year-old manageress, had been sacked.

He said: "This was absolutely inexcusable and it won't be tolerated. The person involved has been sacked and I am planning on consulting my lawyers to see if I can take further action against her."

A few things strike me about this story. One, they call the employee a "manageress"...not very PC. Two, the owner is going to "consult his lawyer"? WTF? He already fired her, now he's going to sue her? That's fucking ridiculous. And third, you can't get a decent meal in Britain for 30 pounds for three people. They got what they deserved for eating at such a crap restaurant.

Some people need to be told if their children are horrible little crotch-droppings that nobody wants around.

Definitely inappropriate and I think firing her was the right thing to do, but lawyers? Really??

She did something stupid, she lost her job because of it. End of story. The meal should have been free at that point, along with an apology and a free meal should they ever decide to return. Simple as that.

I know if I was treated like that by a server/manager and that person was fired because of it, I would not hold any ill will toward the establishment. Actually, I'd probably be happy to go back.

And slow service happens, especially when a place is so swamped and it's everybody's first day on the job.

The movie 'Waiting' might as well have been classified as a documentary, anybody else who has ever worked in food service will tell you the same thing.

GEEEEZ....it's a fast food joint for crying out loud....... ](*,)

THREE PEOPLE can't eat at a fast food joint for $50 US?
There can't be too many overweight people over there if that's what a meal costs........

I hate kids especially in public when they misbehave. I remember when my niece was a little toddler she was horrible to take out in public and I hated going to somewhere to eat because she would always act up. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else got fed up with it.

What I don't understand, is why they're making such a big fuss about it. Aren't there more important things to report other than, THIS WAITER SECRETLY CALLED MY DAUGHTER A LITTLE FUCKER ON OUR BILL. BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I have read news about similar incidents a few times over the years.

Why were there too many free items on the bill?

I know, the kid got most of it's food free.

No charge for the pizza.

So basically the "manageress" gave them the kids meal free for calling it a little fucker on the bill.

And why is there a "Not decided on pudding" on the bill? What a stupid thing.

Look, we all get fed up with the children screaming and crying - but i'm more fed up with the parents that allow it to happen more than anything. What she did was wrong, and she got fired - it's not a legal matter.

But i sure as hell can't blame her for getting sick of it and having to express it in a non-violent way. I swear i'm closer and closer to pushing out a petition to have straight people licensed in order for them to have kids, it's getting outrageous.

I totally agree.

I was at a movie about a month ago with my boyfriend and we just about left. I don't remember what movie it was, but it was a LONG movie and clearly not for kids. That place was PACKED (not really, but it seemed that way) with screaming children and the parents largely did nothing to shut them up (One finally got up and left after about 5 minutes of screaming).

I could understand if we were at something more kid friendly like Ice Age 3 or something (which I heard is very good btw), but there was death and blood and stuff, this was an adult movie. Lousy parents who just drag the kids along because they don't have a sitter, then allow their spawn to ruin it for everyone else. Hey dickhead, you may be able to tune that kid out, but I can't. Take it somewhere else!!

Unfortunately it's easy to get mad at the kid sometimes, but the parents really are to blame in the majority of cases.

The waitress/manager/whatever was out of line, but if she had no reason to believe the customer would see what she had done, I think it's a relatively harmless way to relieve some stress. Not appropriate, but hey - life happens. I've worked food service before and I know exactly how frustrating it can be to have to kiss people's asses for minimal return. Sometimes ya just gotta take the edge off a little.

Meh...I think those folks should just get over it and move on. I mean really, ya got nothing better to do than whine about stupid shit? Well I wonder where the kid gets it hahaha

That really is appalling.

The word is spelled "little," not "littell."

I would have put something along the lines of "behave your child or I call protective services next time"

her actions did not demonstrate incompetency -- but clearly were inappropriate --
But I'm with HUNTNEO - on this one.
She had to have been pushed way over the edge of sanity to write that on the check - so much so that it may not have occurred to her (until it was too late) that she could and probably would lose her job over it - maybe she wasn't planning on staying anyway - so she decided to go out "with a bang" - if her name gets released to the press, she's gonna have to do more than "leave that job off her resume" if she expects to work in food service again.

In case anybody forgot:

RULES OF CUSTOMER SERVICE:

1. The customer is always right.
2. If there are any questions - see rule #1.

(and while we know that's a pile of cow plop - we have to make the customer feel like it's true.)

When I tell my (retail) customers they're "misinformed" about a product - some of them are actually annoyed - one recently walked out - in a huff - because they feel stupid i guess - even tho we spend any amount of time "educating" them about things... anyway.........check please.

I was a little puzzled by the restaurant owner's use of the word "manageress." I thought perhaps it was a British term for "cashier" or "waitress," or maybe he was trying to use a term for a "female manager." I don't know...

According to the article, it was the restaurant's opening weekend. So that "manageress" had been on the job, what, a day or two? Also, the customer indicated that several of the employees were in on the joke. I can understand the restaurant owner's chagrin over the incident. What can he do, fire the whole staff after just two days in business?

I agree that she should have been fired. It was an inappropriate remark, and even more-so since she used the "F-word," which is probably why the restaurant owner wants to sue her. Two days in business, and instead of good reviews for the restaurant, this is the type of publicity he's getting. No one would want this type of negative publicity from the onset. He may have been hoping the incident would die down, but after the customer went public and photos of the receipt appeared in the paper and online, the restaurant owner may be in a panic mode and trying to make an example of the "manageress" so that none of his other employees ever pull a stunt like that again.
