  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

That Faggot had it coming

i would tell you to go fuck yourself but what would that accomplish?

honestly this is a bigger issue than your over developed sense of ego.

there are honest to goodness gay people in this state who live day in and day out with this shit in fort worth over their heads. many of them are married in their own way, raise kids and pay taxes but because you have an elitist attitude you can't see what they go through. so for the every one of us 'spineless ones' shut the fuck up or move over here and fight the fight. either way i'm sick of your pandering shit.

C'mon, GL, you know Jasun is right. After all, the California gays are much more enlightened and active than you backwater Texas gays. I mean, look at how they were able to keep gay marriage in their state.

Oh wait, nevermind.

Yes... tens of millions of dollars flooded into our state from all over the world and we lost marriage by a very slim margin... and we're going to win it back.

In Texas we all know that the people of Utah wouldn't have had to mortgage their houses and start a "what about the chidren" panic. It wouldn't even be close if the anti gay people didn't even do any campaigning at all.

People from Texas keep going on and on about how Texas isn't really anything like that but then shit like this keep happening. We all know if this happened in LA, the streets would run red with blood. Most of the people from Texas seem to just shrug it off.

Am I the only one who sees that?

I mean.. am I nuts?

Oh, and can we please remember that I'm Canadian? Fought for gay equality for over 20 years since I was 18. And helped win it?

My confusion at people who just "there there dear" away stuff like this doesn't lose weight because I moved to a new country 4 years ago.

So what HAVE you done other than get all pissed at someone for pointing out the obvious?

Well, Jasun, while you posted the contact information for the office that is seeking to cover this up, GL posted the information on how to contact the City Councilman and the Mayor. We already know the Police Department doesn't appear to care about the truth in this situation, so contacting others in power in the area would perhaps be a better use of time.

You don't get to have it both ways, Jasun--pointing out how people need to act together and then attacking the people who live there as though your gayness or your indignation is somehow more pure doesn't help the cause at all.

Why not load up a van with all those hot masculine porn stars you know and head on down to Texas? You could even make a porn activist road trip film and fuck in every place that would piss off a conservative Lone Star resident.

Didn't Sascha Cohen just make that into a 70-minute theatrically released episode of Candid Camera?

Now.. you are right.. although I do think that the apathetic gay community are in part to blame for the situation, the best thing to do is not get up on my high horse (no matter how much I might occasionally think I deserve to be up here) but encourage them to maybe come out and fight a bit.

Or a bit more.

So far, however, every Texan I've spoken to has given me the "oh well.. this isn't a gay thing.. they attack deaf people and retards too, you know" answer or they just say "well the guy was drunk" as if he deserved to be beaten into intensive care for having a drink in a bar.

If anyone else thinks that's productive, please let me know.

If that was a Texan by way of Los Angeles, then that would make sense--a person from a state where everyone thinks they're bigger, living in a city where everyone thinks they're better.

And in regards to Cohen's film, I can't bring myself to watch him. His scathing skewering of ignorance only really works if the ignorant ones realize they're being skewered. Otherwise, he just ends up reinforcing them. How many bigots/homophobes will see his movie and instead of seeing themselves in it, will just end up laughing at the gayness of it all?

Nope. so far I've spoken to no Texans living in LA about it... just to Texans living in Texas, sadly. One guy threw a fit because I posted the phone numbers of the police department... said "you're making gay people look like a bunch of whiners" or something.

Oh and by the way, you don't get it both ways, either. You can't tell me to stop making cheap shots at Texas while taking cheap shots at LA.

Except my tongue was in my cheek, while you were poking from your horse. :)

I just don't understand this mentality. Should we all just drop to the floor and scream, "Thank you, Sir, may I have another?"

It's pretty much what I said to him.

He said that gay people make themselves look bad because the "freak out every time something happens."

Pathetic, spineless loser. And i don't care who knows I think it.

To be honest, I saw the trailer for it on TV and aside from it not looking that funny, I kinda felt bad for Paula Abdul. I mean she's got chronic back pain and a drug addiction problem and he's picking on her. Kinda cowardly, don't you think?

It's a totally separate issue, but yes... I have a friend who works for Sony who showed me a few scenes from it and the only message I got from it is "gay people aren't really hurt by homophobia and even if they were, they kinda ask for it and deserve what they get."

I thought this YouTube from a gay police officer in California reacting to what happened in Ft. Worth was pretty powerful:

I have read a number of stories about physical attacks on gay men in Britain in the British press.

And I believe there was a recent link at Towleroad.com to an article about a significant increase in hate speech and crimes against the LGBT community in Britain in the last year. I believe the figure was 29%.

yes it happens not to me tho and not in the area were i live in tbh i live in a very nice area

There are hundreds of thousands of gays who live in Dallas/Fort Worth and need our support, no matter whether they're in the closet or open.
How can you help someone who's in the closet?

You can't.

You are never defined by what you are called... you are defined by what you answer to.

What that officer claimed in texas made no sense. He was approached and touched inappropriately and he started to beat the guy? What the hell did he think was going to happen in a gay bar? That's like a female officer going into a lesbian strip club and saying she had to shoot one of the dancers because she started to rub her breasts against her face. What kind of court would even accept that as defense testimony? I hope they all get fired.

From the Dallas Morning News, finally deigning to take notice:
"In the coming weeks, Chief [Jeffery] Halstead will conduct meetings with TABC officials in an effort to establish clearly defined roles and responsibilities of each organization with the intent to better serve the community in conducting inspections," the police department said in a written statement.

Terrific. One homophobic jackass who has no business wearing a badge is going to meet with a whole TEAM of homophobic jackasses who have no business wearing badges. That'll help. I bet the main topic will be how to get away with it this time, and how to brutalize innocent gay citizens more deniably in the future.

I was in the Stonewall Hotel in Sydney recently and a bunch of police officers walked in with their drug sniffer dogs. It's a regular occurence in most Sydney bars.

I was sitting at the door having my scotch and coke and this guy runs over to one of the policeman and said to him

"I love a man in uniform"

All 6 of the cops laughed and they ended up posing with the guy and his friends who'd put him up to it for a photo. It was great to see and the cops weren't the slightest bit offended, they just played along. From memory I think the cop - who was young and actually quite hot - responded with "really, i prefer my men to be woman and the uniform on the floor"

Apparently our coppers should have beaten the young guy sensless and put him into a coma, while arresting anyone who tried to help.

That story would be a lot more heartwarming if it weren't for the part about cops going in bars with drug-sniffing dogs...

That's what I was thinking.

Why are cops in bars, unless the police were called for a disturbance?

In Oregon, the OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission) would send in one or two of their civilian goons, no need for police.
