Lily Allens european sales must have been massive? She is like pretty much unheard of in the US. Never knew she was such a big seller either, but good for her.

That's probably because Beyoncé plays a large part in writing/producing her own stuff, unlike the other three divas.

No she doesn't. Heard about the lawsuit going on? Kelly Rowland even claims Mathew Knowles would have the writers tack her name onto the song in order to get publishing royalties. And Ne-Yo also says that Beyonce had nothing to do with the writing process on any of the songs he's written for her, and no hands on the production or music to it, even though her name is listed on it. Beyonce is just a voice. She has no other musical ability.

Whitney's never had a flop album. Even her LAST (weakest) album "Just Whitney" went past Platinum. it might have been a "flop" by Whitney-standards, but some of the hottest artist out right now WISH they could go Platinum and they can't

And yet Mariah's had flop albums, even when they've gone past platinum? Make up your mind, dude. It can't be a flop for one person, and a success for Whitney.

And this entire list is BULLSHIT. There's SEVERAL albums not listed. Or maybe you should specify it ONLY includes albums released in 2009.

Even with what is being called one of the biggest snubs in Grammy history, there is light for Whitney Houston at the end of the tunnel.

Houston's anticipated effort "I Look To You" has been certified RIAA Platinum in the United States for sales in excess of 1 million copies.

Featuring work with Akon, R. Kelly, Diane Warren, Claude Kelly and more, Houston's "I Look To You" arrived in stores August 31. It has since delivered two singles, including the R.Kelly penned "I Look To You".

In related news, Whitney Houston is due to embark on her first European Tour in some time next year. Set to kick off Spring of 2010, the tour will make rounds through London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

The only reason you chose to narrow it down to Female Artist is because once you add Male Artist and Groups Ms. Houston's position will drop considerably.

BTW #22 on your list, La Roux, is a DUO fronted by a female.

(RTTNews) - Last week's sales figures have revealed that Whitney Houston has scored her first platinum album in seven years with her latest release, I Look to You.

The album has moved more than 1 million copies in the U.S. since its debut on August 28, enough to earn Houston the coveted RIAA distinction.

I Look to You debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart back in August, selling 305,000 copies. The project gave Houston her first number one album since 2002's Just Whitney, which moved 205,000 copies.
The singer is currently planning her first world tour in 11 years in support of the album.

"This is my first full tour since the My Love Is Your Love tour and I am so excited to be performing for my fans around the world after all this time," she wrote on her website. "I am putting together a great show and cannot wait to perform the songs from my new album I Look to You along with some of your favorites."

In other news, Houston did not receive a single nomination for the 2010 Grammy Awards. The issue is making headlines, as many industry minds believe she was snubbed.

Susan Boyle Set to Top the Billboard 200 for a Third Week

Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" is on course to spend a third week atop the Billboard 200, as industry sources suggest the set will sell at least another 500,000 copies and could approach 600,000 by week's end on Dec. 13.

This past week, Boyle's "Dream" held on to the No. 1 slot for a second week with sales of 527,000, after bowing last week with 701,000. Now, with 1.23 million sold in its first two weeks, "Dream" is chasing after Taylor Swift's "Fearless" (2.53 million sold this year) for the title of 2009's best selling album. With four sales weeks left in the SoundScan tracking year, Boyle could overtake Swift's sales figure by year's end

Erm... Someone has to look at the definition of "platinum".

In US, platinum sales are equivalent to 1 million albums.

You can't combine worldwide sales to call it another "platinum".

Not that I'm knocking Whitney Houston or anything, as 2 million albums worldwide is a rather good sum in this current climate, but it definitely isn't double platinum.

E.g. Pink sold 900000 albums of "Funhouse" in Australia. But it is equivalent 10x platinum sales (as Australia has a much smaller population compared to USA).

Well Whitney's record label said she has sold 1 million in the u.s. alone and another 1 million worldwide. The album has been certified DOUBLE platinum so far......so take that however way you want to.

RIAA only certified it as "platinum" thus far.

And just because it is certified as "platinum" in two countries/regions, doesn't make it certified as "double platinum".

You don't hear Pink's publicity team promoting Funhouse as a "10+x platinum" album because you can't combine all the platinums together!
