So, it's been five years, and I know I've missed a lot. So, fill me in. Who got married, who got divorced, who got pregnant (aside from Fabby, of course)? Bonus points if you have receipts.

Welcome back! Everyone is either 5 years older or they didn't make it. No major changes for me yet, but I do hope to eventually move.
That's all the juicy gossip you have for me? Girl, you need to step it up, or I'm not taking any more smoke breaks with you.

Hi hon,
you know I'm always glad to see you....

Vannie eats cabbage everyday for breakfast.

You can't handle my tea.

A dark Scottish blend guaranteed to put hair on your nuts.

Hot Topics isn't hot any longer. Anything that foments seems by definition to be CE&P, but it has largely become an echo chamber painted monochrome.

Lots of Old Guard Rest Home threads now with young gays mostly disinterested or absent.

A lot of the topics that used to be debated have faded from importance. Then there was the Great Fire of racism accusations that burned endlessly for a couple of years until all the green was gone.

Pretty much only the ancient conifers, gnarled and windworn, remain.

We need some marmots or a honey badger or two to wake up the place.

Or maybe we have learned to not tear out the jugular vein every time there is a mild difference of perspective.

No, I really don't think that is true. There were plenty of heated debates about circumcision, dating preferences, the acceptance of bisexuals, the alliance or not with lesbians, the ethics of bug catching, the merits of nudity in Pride parades, the role of television and cinema depictions of gays, the question of gayborhoods and gay-owned businesses in contrast to those patronizing Christian-owned businesses, the persecution of gays abroad, the incidence of gay bashing by region vs. stereotpying, the decline of gay bars and clubs, the question of gay marriage as wannabe straights, the presumption of out gays vs, ongoing closeted lives, the problem with closeted professional athletes and celebrities, the question of whether LGBTQ advocates actually represent the majority of gays, the question of the alphabet soup coalition vs. simply gay men, whether religion is the source of homophobia or just a convenient tool to use to justify it, whether fake personas and outright frauds on the forum matter, and many more.

Rather than the forum become more civil, it has largely become less diverse, with many views walking away either out of boredom, irrlevant discussions, schoolyard cliques, or uneven moderation.

Many of the heated debates in the past saw impassioned posting that did not go beyond the pale, although there was an awful lot of threads cut to pieces and put back with tatters in the place of simple editing.

And I sense many younger gays aren't searching out the same things we were. Some are out and dating or partnered, while other remain out of view and don't feel compelled to take any stand with the Friends of Dorothy. That seems to be the main cause of the staleness of the site. Without a diverse mix of age, views, and even nationalities, it just becomes so much . . .

Welcome back! As a group, we apparently have little to entice you to stay. I, however, remain optimistic.

So you did miss one Jubber who fake plunged to his fake death while fake mountain climbing.

At the time of my departure, I recall thinking that this place had turned into the gay version of Stormfront. I checked in periodically to see if it was still the case. I prefer innocuous discussion over debates about whether or not particular groups of people deserve to exist. I recall quite a few good posters being driven off by the biphobia and transphobia on these boards.

Well, fuck that. I go through enough razor cartridges as it is.

In case you can't tell, I've forgotten how to multiquote.

Perhaps the younger guys don't know about JUB? They have Facebook and X and whatever else.
