The Black Gay Househusbands of Hollywood ("Hollywood Houseboys")

how-you-doin-o.gif

This show is a mess. I can't deal with messy queens like that.

SexyKevTaurean79 is that you gurrl?

OMG WFT is this shit???

How could anybody promote ot associate themselves with this???

they all r way too ugly to be a houseboy!

LMBAO! If they're to have a reality show featuring gay people, I wish it would be free of stereotypes but that would be asking too much wouldn't it?

That's not what reality TV is about.

Producers cast attention whores, not average Joes and Janes.

They capitalize on drama. The person who acts the stupidiest gets the most camera time. They get bloggers typing and viewers talking. Soon, they're being followed by the paparazzi and appearing at events and on The Tonight Show like they actually have talent.

Stereotypes sell. Viewers find the bitchy gay guy entertaining, not the down-to-earth gay guy. The loud, combative black girl is who every blogger rants about, not the calm, collected black girl. Seeing college-aged kids have a drunken threesome will have people tuning in, not college-aged kids studying for their exams.

Think of it this way: Would you watch a show about your life? No actors, no fake drama, no cool jobs or an exciting competition added in. Simply you doing your everyday, coming home, and posting on JUB?

Viewers want to be dazzled by something greater or more thrilling than what they experience, not have their mundane lives reflected back at them.

This is so true it fucking hurts, and I already have the flu

Reality TV is to entertain, make a profit, and make everyday idiots and sluts quasi-celebs for a maximum of 5 minutes. It is not to inform, enlighten, or educate.

Expecting a reality show to be ground-breaking or positive is like going to McDonald's for a 5-star course.

Whoa. Noah's Arc is the high-water mark? :(

Not really, but it was still a decent gay black show. Despite the flaming queeny characters. And they at least had some masculine, non-stereotypical gay black characters on the show too. Wade, anyone? :luv:

I agree with what you're saying. I just get so sick of always seeing gay people being portrayed as a bunch of loud, dramatic, gossipy, promiscuous queens when we as a people are so much more than that. It's funny that they use the term "reality" tv because there isn't a damn thing real about it.

I woudnt watch that crap if it was the last show airing on earth.

Wuh?

Are we talking about the same Noah's Arc that use the same tired
stereotypes as well? The same group who made a Motion Picture
call "Jumping the Broom"? That shit was one of the worse depictions
of Gay men I've ever seen. I tried to watch the movie on Logo at
my friend's house, and I ended up leaving because I was too
disgusted by the flamboyant clowns parading around on screen.

I'm sorry, but Noah's Arc WAS a great show. And yes, the show was 1000 times better than the movie.

Sure, they were a bit stereotypical, but they were still portrayed in a good way, at least imo. It had good writing, good acting, it's was realistic and not too "out there". I liked it.

Noah's Arc did a good job at depicting a large amount of gay black men

This show shows one type of gay black man.

Well, one and a half, if you catch my drift.

Wow. Maybe my expectations are too high?

Ryan Hope is nice-looking, he's just a total "Girl"...

If a Network picks this up I will watch the 1st episode to see if it's entertaining...This will be a 1st for reality TV...

Yeah Zercy, lighten up. Most things aren't going to be wrapped up in a nice pretty package and always say or do the right thing. Noah's Arc took a while to grow on me, but eventually I came around. I wasn't crazy about the acting in the pilot, finally gave the show another chance and fell in love with characters. Anyway, my point is...give it a chance.
