THE CHOSEN ONE - some ego

Has the right wing yet established criteria for speaking at the Brandenburg Gate?

I believe that Obama has changed plans and will speak at the Berlin Victory Column. I wonder what fault CK will find with that.

no established criteria

but a junior senator ...................

doesn't cut it

based on historical precedence

and the german govt's POV

Who cares where Obama decides to speak..I'm sure his Brandenburg Gate speech would be better than Reagans''Tear down this wall,bullshit''...

Can you imagine the scene if Mc Same spoke to large crowds..

They would have to figure out a way to administer meth via overhead sprinklers just to keep the crowd from nodding out..Talk about piss poor delivery, and should you find a way to stay awake(icepick in the thigh usually does it for me) you find his message is even worse..His comments about ''gay adoption''last week were pretty revealing...Buuuuut back on topic, I know the OP isn't concerned with any of that gay civil rights stuff...

Oh yeah, and calling him ''Jmac'' doesn't make him sound cooler or even coherent..

As for finding soldiers to ''pose with'',thats an incredible statement coming from a republican..

For years they have used soldiers as a backdrop, while they give them the dick..

Maybe Obama can "pose'' with a company of soldiers and a few blackhawk helicopters hovering overhead,as he strolls down the "safe'' streets of Bagdad..

Give me a cookie..

brandenburg has history - and the most important point is the german govt said ............ uh ......... no BO

whatever - not a huge point except that THE CHOSEN ONE seems to be reading his press clippings is all

he's just a jr. senator

running for pres doesn't make u ....................... JFK

but i guess when his cock is being sucked non stop by followers, the media, etc. - i guess he figured ........"let's do a speech at brandeburg gate" - then he asked "any basketball hoops nearby?" ;) "feel like shooting some J's"

nice riff about grandpa - but feel free to find another thread - there's plenty ;)

I like calling him JMac - u don't have to though  kinda ruins it actually

and i would cut down on the cookies Kenny

another day on JUB

It's not really the German government's POV, it's Angela Merkel's POV after she got a call from Bush. The Foreign Minister (who is from her coalition partner the SPD) had no problem with it. The Mayor of Berlin had no problem with it. Even the center-right FDP had no problem with it and characterized Merkel's concerns as "Burokratenquatsch" (bureaucratic rubbish).

I was going to post the same thing but you beat me to it. In fact the Mayor of Berlin was quite enthusiastic about it.

Of course some people are never happy, though. Now that a site for Obama's speech has finally been selected, there are those in the Merkel government who are still bitching and moaning...

BARACK IN BERLIN
Is Obama Speech Site Contaminated by Nazi Past?

Finally, Barack Obama's campaign has settled on a site for his Berlin speech. But some German politicians have now criticized his choice as being one full of Nazi-related symbolism.

http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,566920,00.html

I am getting the impression that Merkel's Bush pals are trying to prevent Obama from speaking in Germany at all, and that Merkel is in agreement with them. Bad way to start your relationship with the future President of the United States, I believe...;)

when i see posts that are so blatantly partisan and rife with inconsistencies, i do pounce ;)

but this is not new greydog

not new at all

de spiegel is the source of this "OMG Maliki/Obama are sympatico" article

it then gets discredited or at least questioned for its accuracy

the same de spiegel suggests the new site is nazi-like

soooooooooooo

and then u have the europe hates the u.s. nonsense which clearly is not true but ..................

and i don't think it's "bungled" at all

i got a smile out of it ;)

and i think many did - not sure any will admit it - or make that few

and of all the words u use - sarcastic fits - the others not

have a great day greydog (not sarcassm)

^ Chance, for someone who gleans most of his opinions from the NYPost's Page 6 section and the O'Reilly factor, perhaps you're unfamiliar with Der Spiegel. It's happens to be a very popular and unbiased news source in Germany and the rest of Europe, similar to our Time and Newsweek. How about showing a bit more respect for our European Allies, will ya! [-X

The odd thing is that McCain acts like he's never served in war.

He wants to prolong the Iraq war for starters even though the Iraqi government says a timetable and "soon rather than later" approach is best.

He should know what young men and women are facing, especially in a war like Iraq and Vietnam that are useless and pointless wars. He wants to keep sending them over there. They can't turn 18 fast enough for McCain.

Then he claimed the Baghdad streets are safe and he's walking down a bazaar in a bull proof jacket with about 20 soldiers and overhead Apaches providing aerial support.

What's called "assertiveness" in male employees...is called "bitchiness" in female ones.

What's called "accessibility" in hot guys...is called "sluttiness" in ugly ones.

What's called "confidence" in the candidate you prefer...is called "ego" in the one you don't.

Very astute, to-the-point observations! ..|

Who cares where Obama decides to speak..I'm sure his Brandenburg Gate speech would be better than Reagans''Tear down this wall,bullshit''...

If you'd said that within hearing of my old skydiving STA, Bush would be out of office before all the pieces of you were found.
He was Airborne, and he served along that wall. After his time there, he said he'd never heard more beautiful words than Reagan's that day.
And knowing some history from that wall, I'd say you'd deserve everything he gave you. Reagan's words were something that had been needed for years, something presidents before him had been too lily-livered to say. He gathered up all of the oppressive nature of the Russian empire and in one sentence showed it for what it was and threw it in the face of its masters.
And thanks to those words, Germans gathered together the courage to do the job for Gorbachev. I have a piece that was passed on to me by another guy from Airborne, who also served by that wall -- and who was there when it came down, in the right place when some East Germans came along handing out pieces to Americans to take home and to "Tell your president Reagan, 'Thank you!'", and to pass on to other Americans and tell them to say the same thing.

Um... I don't count Newsweek as unbiased -- Der Spiegel has it beat by a long shot.

Chance, you make me wish General Alfie were back.

When he was around, you wrote and posted a lot better quality, I presume because you had his example to distance yourself from. Now, though, you're on your way to becoming him.

I honestly have to say that with your attitude and example in regards to Senator Obama, you're as good an ambassador for McCain as Fred Phelps is for Jesus Christ.

Get a grip, dude. [-X

If you have never read Der Spiegel, then you will never understand its quality and non partisan reporting, so I will not even address your first statement.

As for the Bush pals, I referred to Merkel's Bush pals, in other words, the people in Washington from whom she received her directives on this particular matter. The US (or rather Bush to be more specific) remains unpopular and most people in Europe are hoping that Obama will win so that the US will change direction. I happily join them in that wish...

The French and Germans do NOT love you. Their presidents rightly believe that the transatlantic alliance is a necessary and vital one to maintain, but the citizenry is still not altogether convinced. From what I hear (and I am IN Europe so I know a little better than you do...), they are simply waiting until November to make up their minds for certain. If McCain wins, I guarantee you that Merkel, Sarkozy, Tusk, and every other Bush boot licker will be voted out of office throughout Europe. Take my word for it.

Thx. Chance.
You're a likeable cuss, in spite of your blatant, partisan, neo-con, right winger
McSame support. :-)

It now appears that France and the UK are all upset because Obama hasn't come to see them, too.

EUROPEAN ROADSHOW
Obama's Germany Itinerary Ruffles Feathers in France, UK

By Gregor Peter Schmitz in Washington, D.C.

Barack Obama's visit to Berlin has upset officials in other European capitals who feel the presumptive Democratic Party presidential candidate is slighting their countries. The French and British are feeling neglected.

thanks kuli

sorry u feel that way

but i can't control that

as for ur comment about mccain/fred phelps/my attitude

take a hike

I love you Chancey but this was quoted for the absolute truth.

don't say it unless u mean it ;)

McCain is a great man - it's that simple

the fact that he is hated here on JUB is mind boggling

that 85% want to put a newbie in charge in such a difficult time suggests a lack of perspective but i get that

but the hatred for mccain is sick shit

and the things i point out about THE CHOSEN ONE pale in comparison to name calling JMac endures
