The Christina Aguilera Mega-thread

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Deluxe tracks leaked

Stronger than ever is amazing
Birds of prey is pure perfection

Stronger Than Ever is the Power Ballad of the Album. :)

Birds of Prey is hypnotic, it almost sound like she collaborate with Marilyn Manson instead of Ladytron.

Bobblehead is hilarious... "Uh, I dun' get et"

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

"Birds of Prey" + "Stronger Than Ever" are amazing! I can't believe they're not on the album....The deluxe edition will be available in stores, right?? (!)

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Yeah, why Birds of Prey isn't on the first disc boggles my mind. She needs to do more songs with Ladytron.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

hee hee I'll be getting my copy tomorrow!! June 4th, this has got to be her most diverse and daring album to date. I love all the songs...big mistake on NMT though, that should never have been the first single!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

the bonus deluxe tracks are fantastic!

Bobblehead is so bad that it's amazing...lol

and Birds of Prey....no words...

I take back my first opinion of the album...I LOVE IT

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

lol @ Birds of Prey not being on the standard edition's track list.

Definitely a classic case of production releasing the wrong tracks as singles, and the wrong tracks on the CD.

It's called "We gotta have a stereotypical radio HIT - and it doesn't even have to be great, just catchy." I'm sure that's exactly how that meeting went. #-o

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^^Seriously. But more like a radio hit from 5 years ago.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^^ I already bought the album on Itunes but I gotta have that album booklet!!!!!
Birds Of Prey is AMAZING!!! - total standout.
Bobblehead is cute love it.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Wow, Little Dreamer isn't even on the CD either? What the fuck? They should have cut out Polow da Don's shit and put in the Ladytron tracks. What a horrible business decision.

The label obviously freaked out and ordered more commercial, generic songs on the album. Which is ironic, considering it's exactly that that has been this album's undoing so far. People want something different and innovative, and it's exactly what Christina has been delivering since Stripped. I don't know why this era didn't turn out that way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Christina fan, and as such, I've pre-ordered a digital and a physical copy of the album, but I think it could have been so much better and so much more successful.

As for the bonus tracks, I absolutely LOVE Monday Morning and Stronger Than Ever, but I was disappointed by Birds of Prey. Maybe hearing it in high quality will help me to appreciate it more.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

The bonus tracks are immense! This my jam.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

RCA really sucks lol anyways the album is doing great on Itunes also I hope she kills it @ MTV movie awards

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Maybe things would be different for her if she possessed even a smidge of charisma; instead, she sits back and takes bitchy snipes at her more successful peers (Gaga, Britney, etc.), fueled by the overwhelming jealousy that she harbors towards them. It would be one thing if she had the charm and panache to back up her nasty attitude, but she simply doesn't. She just goes with whatever album theme her record company crams down her overactive throat -- Soul vixen! Rocker chick! Hip-hop diva! -- and masquerades as an innovator.

I agree.

I'm a Christina fan, she has a music box of a voice that can sell anything. But I have yet to read/hear/see an interview that she has done I've enjoyed. Ever. She always comes across very vain, insecure and downright childish. She doesn't need to constantly throw shade at other artists the way she does. It's ironic considering how much she sings about female empowerment.

I think Christina's problem is that she lacks a real music identity to call her own. Each album she comes out with is always a reflection of how "real, authentic, and the true me." I'm all for her trying new things, but at some point she is going have to hit her stride and stick to something.

Back to Basics was what you'd consider "filler". Bionic, on the other hand, is the best example of an artist experimenting with different sounds on pretty much every track (well, the best recent example, at least) in a way that is very unique and refreshing.

I disagree, respectfully. I thought Back to Basics was fantastic and out of all her albums was something really great and really her. I believed her on that album. Bionic, though good not great, falls in line with everything else that has been mastered by her fellow princesses.

She's still somewhat of a young artist (she's only released five albums, afterall), so she has time to do that. Out of all the little pop princesses out there, Christina is the only one who musically resembles Madonna, who went everywhere from dance club music in the 80's to R&B and electronica in the 90's (and we all know where that woman is today). Even if she continues to experiment with different sounds/genres, that's more refreshing and interesting that putting out the same stinker album every other year like most of her peers.

I disagree, respectfully. I thought Back to Basics was fantastic and out of all her albums was something really great and really her. I believed her on that album. Bionic, though good not great, falls in line with everything else that has been mastered by her fellow princesses.

I'm not saying I didn't like Back to Basics; I just prefer this new one to it. I also sensed the passion and authenticity she brought to that album, which was different in its own way - but personally, there wasn't a wide range of style on it. I think that's why she's really the only mainstream "pop" artist I like from this generation; she isn't afraid to try new things or go against what is expected (again, like Madonna) - and that's a sign of a true artist. For someone of her status to decide to work with people like Le Tigre, Peaches, Sia, and Ladytron (all of which aren't necessarily popular, mainstream artists) says alot about their willingness to separate herself from the mediocrity going on in music and bring something new to the table. I'd rather listen to what she's doing than 98% of the other "art" out there today.
