The Christina Aguilera Mega-thread

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Now Alicia's album was terribes. If you compare it to that, Bionic is a masterpiece. I personally like a lot of the songs but definitely not her most cohesive album. And I agree with others that the deluxe edition songs are way better than the standard. A lot of the standard edition ones should have just never been made. But there are some good songs. Songs that are much better than 90% of the music being put out today.

However, I do get the disappointed b/c she waits so long btwn albums. It's kinda not fair. If this does flop she better not be waiting around another 5 years thinking she's still gonna have supporters.

Alicia Keys' album was terrible? It was definitely a different sound for her on some tracks, but she still had strong material, especially with songs like Unthinkable, TSWABH, Love Is My Disease, Put It In A Love Song, WTTSMS and Empire State of Mind (II).

I definitely agree that some of her songs are better than what many other mainstream artists are releasing. However, the songs on the deluxe edition are simply different, not better. Any female singer could have done Monday Morning, Birds of Prey or Bobblehead. Christina, in and of herself, brought nothing extraordinary to them. In addition, it's not as if they were not generic in their own way.

Anyway, I forgot to comment on the performance last night. Overally, it was a solid performance, but I could have gone without WooHoo personally. What's the point of having that in the medley just to riff one time and end it?

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Last night's performance was quite sad to behold. Watching her desperately clinging to Gaga's coattails is truly pathetic.

And a blinking neon heart on your vag? Really, Christina? How does it feel to know that Ke$ha has more class than you?

BLAH! You people act like Gaga is some kind of trendsetter or originator - when, in fact, everything that woman says, sings, and wears has been done about a billion times before (and by classier people, no less).

I haven't seen the performance (very much ANTI-MTV here), but I've seen a couple photos - and I see absolutely nothing Gagaesque about what she wore.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I got it !!!!

ANd I have to say.. .the record is good... pretty good... pretty different...

I m suprised I like it that much actually, Bionic, Elastic Love, Desnudate & You lost me are just too great

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

The MTVMA performance was on fire! OMG >.< (!)

Quoted for truth! Her performance was on point! I'm so sick of the Gaga comparisons. Is Gaga the only female artist allowed to do dance music?

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I thought the performance was pretty great...though I still get annoyed when she doesn't sing and she just does annoying runs throughout the song...but it was still good.

of course...2 seconds after Perez was on her shit on twitter saying she was just copying Peaches with the light up heart on her vag...but whatever....I dug it...and I'm still very much digging "Monday Morning", "Birds of Prey" and "Bobblehead"

Ooooh lord...For someone who reeks of superficiality and endorses such shitty music, Perez has absolutely NO business calling anyone out for unoriginality.

I believe he may just be jealous that Christina was born with a vagina and he wasn't.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I downloaded and listened to it a few times, not being that crazy about it. Then I deleted all the ballads and found it much more enjoyable. Elastic Love, though, is the only song I think really jams.

That is the most ridiculous point ever. If that's the case, Rihanna could have recorded Single Ladies and Lady Gaga could have sang Rude boy. Obivously anybody could have recorded any song. Personally I think Monday Morning and Birds of Prey are great songs and I'm glad she chose to record them. Every song doesnt need to be her belting. it is good that she can have restraint.

all I have to say is its nice to see Peaches and Xtina collaborate. Perhaps Xtina is inspired by her. Peaches..the goddess of Electro!! and as for Perez..I enclose the video below

No, but it's interesting that as soon as Lady Gaga begins dominating the music industry, Christina decides to forsake her career-long "I am a SINGER who does SOULFUL BALLADS because I have SUBSTANCE" schtick in favor of doing a conceptual, avant-garde dance-pop album.

Plus there was the insanely creepy sporting-the-exact-same-hairstyle-as-Gaga thing that she tried to pull when "Keeps Gettin' Better" was released. Single White Female much?

When she was called out on her plagiarism, she attempted to slam Gaga by claiming that she looked like a drag queen. (As if that's some sort of ultimate insult, and as if the same couldn't be said of her.) Wow, Christina... Way to completely backstab all of the gay and transgendered followers that you garnered with the "Beautiful" video.

No wonder her fanbase has all but dissipated. What a talentless, nasty woman.

Actually, it is a valid point. I never once mentioned that she should have belted on the track; however, she could have applied herself in a way to make the songs her own. The statement that was made was the songs on the deluxe edition are not generic pop. The more accurate statement should have been that they are not contemporary, generic pop. Again, that does not mean that they are better.

P.S. Rihanna could have never recorded Singles Ladies as Beyonce has a little more natural vocal talent.

I wouldn't necessarily call Bionic a concept (or even an "avant garde") album. It's not meant to be taken that seriously. Her last two albums were somewhat heavy, so I think this album is about having fun and collaborating with people she thought would enhance her "I am a SINGER who does SOULFUL BALLADS because I have SUBSTANCE" sound. I don't see anything wrong with that. By the way, for everyone slamming her for taking so long between albums, have you forgotten that she got married and had a kid AND did her first film around the same time she started work on Bionic? I'm sure alot of her "career time" is now spent being a wife/mom. Jeez.

Plus there was the insanely creepy sporting-the-exact-same-hairstyle-as-Gaga thing that she tried to pull when "Keeps Gettin' Better" was released. Single White Female much?

Actually, ALOT of people (including myself) thought Gaga was copying Christina (particularly her look) when she first came into the public eye. The idea that Christina was/is copying Gaga (regarding her music or her image) is ridiculous to me, because Christina was doing exactly what she's doing now years before Gaga released anything! Christina has many advantages over Gaga (for one, she can actually sing), so there's no need for her to copy her. Yes, electronic and dance music has become alot more popular in recent years - but Gaga is far from the founder of dance music (or bleached hair).

When she was called out on her plagiarism, she attempted to slam Gaga by claiming that she looked like a drag queen. (As if that's some sort of ultimate insult, and as if the same couldn't be said of her.) Wow, Christina... LAME! Most everyone thought that woman was a damn drag queen when they first saw her. That doesn't necessarily mean she was dissing her (or her fans). In case you didn't know, just after Perez Hilton thought it would get him attention by recently telling everyone Christina is copying Gaga, Christina was the first (and only) person involved to issue a statement saying how sexist and unnecessary it is to pit two female artists against one another. In the same statement, she called Gaga "great" and said she appreciated her as an artist. Here's the link.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Mondya morning is soooooooooooo great...

Not my self tonight it the worst

And I do think Bionic is THE hit

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Oh god the stupidity of those "little monster" never fails to astound me either. You will find them on YouTube on HER "FIGHTER" & "LADY MARMALADE" clips calling her a copycat in them..WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END?!!!!!! I enjoy reading the reviews of Bionic, but the moment the word "Gaga" comes up, I just stop reading it completely..pure ignorance and just laziness on their part BIONIC DOES NOT SOUND ANYTHING LIKE GAGA, MUSICALLY & LYRICALLY!!...I would compare her upbeat songs to Britney's Blackout though (which I believe is a good album).

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I thought Christina's outfit in KEEPS GETTING BETTER was reminiscent of her outfit & make up in TELL ME (2006) with P.Diddy? OR DID PEOPLE ALL OF A SUDDEN CATCH AMNESIA after hearing Gaga?!!...HYPOCRISY, people need to do some serious research before putting plagiarism & Christina in the same sentence....

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Just because a song does not have a generic radio sound does not mean that it's better, which is the case with Birds of Prey. It is not radio friendly, but it's not a better song than any of the material on the standard edition.

Monday Morning, Stronger Than Ever, and I Am are definitely where she delivered as far as experimenting with different sounds as far as the deluxe edition is concerned; I can definitely agree that they do not follow the current brand of pop.

However, let's not ignore You Lost Me, Sex For Breakfast, and Lift Me Up on the standard edition. Those tracks certainly do not follow the current trend in music. While she could have experimented with her sound more, like Alicia Keys did with her latest album, there are some solid and/or experimental songs from both the standard and deluxe edition. Now, Bobblehead, is just...no.

Christina's ballads are always solid, I wasn't talking about them.

The deluxe edition songs are unquestionably better and unique in contrast to the generic songs on the standard edition. She wanted something 'bionic', not 'generic'. This album would have been huge if all of the commercial songs weren't played to death over the last four years.

Aguilera doesn't need commercial-friendly, generic and shitty songs. She has already established a solid fan base. She can now sell CDs off name alone...so why she is teaming up with people like Polow blows my mind. The Ladytron, Sia, Goldfrapp songs...that's what we were all hoping for. Something fresh from a major artist.

The album is receiving garbage reviews...which is really sad because we all know she's better than this album.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

My Review:

1. Bionic: 9/10
Loved it right from the start. this is exactly what I was expecting the song to be. Futuristic, Up, and fun. I love Aguielra's voice on that song. Perfect to start.
Problly one of my favs from aguilera

2. Not Myself Tongith: 2/10
Nice try....

3. Woohoo: 5/10
Not too bad, but it doesnt sound very new to me. We've heard this before, and I'm not too much into the "naughty mode"

4. Elastic Love: 7/10
That's my girl. Trying to do shtg new, experimenting, doing innovative stuff. I love it just cause it's risky

5. Desnudate: 8/10
Summer anthem for sure

6. Love & Glamour: 1/10
USELESS

7. Glam: 4/10
Was expecting something "else". The song is pretty gay LMAO

8. Prima Donna: 7/10
Lil Jon is useless, but the song is good good good, makes u wanna move ur booty from start to finish.

9. Morning dessert: 1/10
USELESS

10. Sex for breakfast: 4/10
Im not too much into it. Good song tho.

11. Lift Me Up: 8/10
Beautiful 2.0

12. My Heart: 4/10
Cute as hell

13. All I need : 8/10
WOW... this is one of my fave on this record. It's just very deep and beautiful. Love the lyrics and it's unexpected, coz I was afraid of a "Max" song

14. I AM: 7/10
powerful in terms of sensations. I dunno why but this song gives me goosebumps

15. You Lost me: 9/10
My favorite ballad on this record and is problly in my top 5 songs of aguilera. GREAT. Plus it's problly the only song on that record with good lyrics

16. I hate boys: 8/10
That song could be sung by a teenage girl, but it's just fun and thats what I like.

17. My girls : 7/10
Peaches collaboration and you can hear it. I barely recognize Aguilera. Fun summer song thats what's good bout it

18. Vanity: 8/10
This is very aguilera, and risky, and uptempo and cheerful... good vibes in general

19: Monday Morning: 9.5/10
i didnt want to give a 10/10... because perfection doesnt exist. but this right here is my favorite aguilera song after fighter.... this is so damn good futuristic and retro at the same time. Up and slow. Powerful and blatant... I still wonder why it's on the deluxe version

20. Bobblehead: 8/10
"I don't get it" well, i don't get it either christina. This is a fucking mess, but again, this is bionic !!!

21. Birds of prey: 6/10
I tend to compare it too frozen from madonna. Dark, dark, dark... and good, good, good

22. Stronger than ever: 8/10
Another powerful ballad that didnt make the final cut

23. I am (stripped): 7.5/10
I prefer this version a bit

Well I think the record is good even tho the lyrics are pretty bad in general which is weird for Aguilera. But the album is good in general.
We all know aguilera's team suck at finding good singles.
If she doesnt want any comparisions to gaga she has to choose the right singles : Bobblehead, Monday Morning, Elastic Love, bionic & You lost me could be great lead singles. Instead we're going to have the worsts:

- Not myself tongith
- Woohoo
- I hate boys
- Glam
- Sex for breakfast

LOOOL

Now that reminds me that glam shoulda been the first single... ROTFLMAO
