Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]
Alicia Keys' album was terrible? It was definitely a different sound for her on some tracks, but she still had strong material, especially with songs like Unthinkable, TSWABH, Love Is My Disease, Put It In A Love Song, WTTSMS and Empire State of Mind (II).
I definitely agree that some of her songs are better than what many other mainstream artists are releasing. However, the songs on the deluxe edition are simply different, not better. Any female singer could have done Monday Morning, Birds of Prey or Bobblehead. Christina, in and of herself, brought nothing extraordinary to them. In addition, it's not as if they were not generic in their own way.
Anyway, I forgot to comment on the performance last night. Overally, it was a solid performance, but I could have gone without WooHoo personally. What's the point of having that in the medley just to riff one time and end it?
Now Alicia's album was terribes. If you compare it to that, Bionic is a masterpiece. I personally like a lot of the songs but definitely not her most cohesive album. And I agree with others that the deluxe edition songs are way better than the standard. A lot of the standard edition ones should have just never been made. But there are some good songs. Songs that are much better than 90% of the music being put out today.
However, I do get the disappointed b/c she waits so long btwn albums. It's kinda not fair. If this does flop she better not be waiting around another 5 years thinking she's still gonna have supporters.
