The Christina Aguilera Mega-thread

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^Yes...and one of those little monsters is that fat, talentless hack named Perez Hilton.

It's sad. I love the album.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

It's such a shame that the album is underperforming, but I suppose it's down to the label, the album is really strong, but they've decided to play it safe with single choices.

I love 'Not Myself Tonight' but as the lead single? She needed something to set her apart from this ridiculous Gaga copying crap that her pathetic fans made up. Elastic Love would of been great, not as the lead, but maybe 2nd/3rd.
I was also hoping that YLM would of helped sales, but then they had to 'remix' it, they've taken all emotion from the song now it's just a boring ballad with a lame beat =/

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Saw this on VH1 this morning: Making of You Lost Me

I wasn't feeling the new hair color but this promo vid made me love it! It looks great on her, especially against the music video set.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^I agree. I think this whole Gaga comparison has really screwed Christina. And I don't see the similarities at all.

It's no secret that Christina has never had any sort of identity as an artist, but this is just plain lazy. :D

Neither do I.

I personally think it's some shit that Gaga's 'little monsters' came up with.

Lmao, yeah, it's some grand machination devised by Gaga fans. Get real.

It's quite an interesting coincidence that Christina (who has always prided herself on her ability to sing soulful, vocally-demanding ballads) has magically decided to become an electro-pop performer. Yeah, I'm sure it had NOTHING to do with Gaga.

Christina sees that who's running the pop music scene right now, so she's desperately clinging to Lady Gaga's coattails, hoping to attract some of her fans.

But her mistake -- well, one of her biggest mistakes -- was publically bashing Gaga. As always, Christina let her bitter, cunty attitude get the best of her, and it cost her a humongous chunk of her already-dwindling fanbase. She could have easily shared Gaga's following (see: Britney, Ke$ha, La Roux, Katy Perry, etc.), but she bit the hand that fed her and now she's paying the price.

Karma, baby. :)

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^Wow...someone really had a huge glass of the Kool Aid, didn't they?

You're allowed to have your (flawed) opinion but whatever. I don't see any similiarities between the two because there are very few. They're both blonde and doing dance music.

People act as if there is only one artist per genre of music. Gaga is not the second coming of Christ.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Her new video looks promising, and "You Lost Me" is one of my favorite songs on the album. I hope her album does better, because I personally love the album and think there are some great songs on there. I think that this album has the best set of ballads of all her albums. I also do not see the Gaga impression. Christina has always done different concepts for each album, and has always kept changing her look & sound. Not to mention, Christina has been around longer, and has a better vocal range.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

You're not really implying Lady Gaga has an identity worth copying? o.O

Mind = blown.
Sigh. Christina fans are so adorable in their simplicity. I guess I just prefer an artist's artist like Gaga to a dime-a-dozen, cookie-cutter product like Miss Aguilera.

But you guys keep worshipping Christina and O-Town and Hoku and whichever other obsolete 90s pop icons you love to listen to! :D

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Fan? I own one of her CDs. Have never been to any of her concerts. I am appreciative, but not a fan by any means...and I haven't a clue who 5ive/Hoku are.

Lady Gaga is an attention whore that employs a marketing team to rip shit off from the 1970s to early 1990s. This is not news. And you're kidding yourself if you believe differently.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

SO according to you, Lady Gaga invented putting your fingers near your eye? ok I get it now  I like Lady Gaga and I like her music but her dumbass obsessed fans that think everyone walking on the streets is copying Lady Gaga is starting to make me really dislike her. On a more Aguilera related note, I really like "Not myself tonight" and "woohoo" isn't too bad either but apart from those two I haven't really heard much off of her album. I hope next time around she puts out a better album because she's very talented.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Honestly, I've been a Christina fan since her Dirrty days and am still a fan.

I hate to say it, but I feel like she's stuck in the early 2000s (her peak) where it was a time that everybody recognized her. I get the feeling that she feels entitled to success like her younger days. She probably thought everything was going to be okay and sell well because her name is 'Christina'. I don't think she realizes that it is a different decade. Her habit of taking years between albums kills her.

Good news is, this 'flop' that is Bionic, might trigger her to waken up a bit and figure out some things. While I've always admired her multi-genre tastes in music (pop, R'nB, soul, light rock, dance), I think she needs to focus on the kind of music that will solidify her in pop music. Every generation has their Madonna (Gaga/Britney), MJ (Justin), and Tina Turner (Beyonce), and every generation has THE voice in the footsteps of Aretha, Whitney, and Mariah. Christina thusfar, has experimented in the traditions of all these icons, but none were everlasting---except, when she did Beautiful.

We need a Diva and we need a bitch that can sing. Remember in the 90s when everybody was singing to the Whitney and Mariah classics? I feel that Christina could do this, easily. She just needs to find the right production for it.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Justin is NOT this generation's MJ. No one is his successor! I'm not even a big fan of MJ, but to claim that Justin = MJ just blows my mind into fine dust.

I agree with some of your other points, like how she's stuck in the early 00's. Chica just got a reality check with Bionic's poor recepetion.

It's interesting that something as silly as what they do with their hands in a photo automatically means they must be compared to one another or one is copying the other....Christina is clearly making a "C" (as in, ummmm, the first letter of HER NAME) and I don't know what the hell Gaga is doing.

 You really shouldn't participate in debates unless you have some familiarity with the topic being discussed. Gaga is known for her hand-over-face gestures (i.e., the videos for "Just Dance", "Poker Face", and "Paparazzi"), and Christina is clearly attempting to emulate that.

This bizarre, Single White Female-esque obsession that Christina has developed is spinning out of control. Like I said, everybody knows that Christina has zero identity as a performer ("I'm a hip-hop diva! No wait, I'm a grungy, underground chick! No wait, I'm a 1940s siren! No wait, I'm a rocker grrl! No wait, I'm a mature, adult contemporary artist!" -- all over the course of a whopping two albums), but she needs to get a handle on herself.

She's hardly the pioneer of putting your hand in front of your face while performing (or, in this case, posing)...In fact, has she created anything original?? From what I have read about the woman, she name drops whatever performer/artist/public figure she thinks will make her sound credible to whichever demographic she's focused on at any given moment. Bowie, Madonna, Grace Jones, Warhol, Marilyn Manroe, Paris Hilton, Keith Haring, etc... I'm not saying she hasn't actually been influenced by these people -- but her fans can't really pull out the "Christina is copying Gaga!!!" card when it's your beloved pop star who's, in fact, the one grabbing from pretty much everyone else and basing a career on it.

LOL I laughed loudly too with the Beyonce (Tina Turner) comparison...the woman sung "Proud Mary" and all of a sudden she's the successor of Tina Turner? HELL NAWWWWW, would you compare her to the great Streisand too after that yawn worthy version of "Memories"??? The thing is with Christina EVERYONE knows she's a phenomenal balladeer as in comparable to the likes of Whitney & Mariah (who are strictly known for their vocal prowess - mainly ballads) BUT Christina is clearly more than just a balladeer she has showed over and over again just how damn versatile she is! I mean c'mon from performing with the Rolling Stones to paying tributes to the likes of Nina Simone & James Brown?? WHO ELSE CAN DO THEM????? I'm sorry but I just cannot see Mariah or even the great Whitney herself do those performances in their prime. CHRISTINA is THE Christina of this era (not the Whitney or Mariah of this decade) her versatility exceeds both of those women.

Okay, ya'll need to calm down. I was just using them as examples and comparisons. I never said they're replacements!! But you must agree that JT has tried to emulate MJ to an extent and Beyonce has done the same with Tina.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I really did not care too much for her new hair color until I saw those above pictures. Now, I like how the hair color and how it blends with the backgrounds.
