Chapter 798 – Jordan Asks for Help and Preparing to Leave

“He thought it was great that you have so many friends involved in the business and school and have such fantastic facilities to house and take care of all of them. “So how are your two new reporters working out for you?” I asked Clay. He smiled.

“Great so far. They’ve learned a lot and are very attentive. They’re coming to me now with suggestions for interviews and stories also. I like that. Guess we’ll have to have one of them cover the sports events of the University here at the CNB when that starts up again in the fall,” Clay suggested.

“What, you’re not going to do that with me in those spots?” I semi-complained. He laughed, telling me he could as he enjoyed doing that with me so much before. I told him we might as well keep the original team in place. He liked that idea.

“Oh, Rowen said he’d be over later, Josh, to clean out the rest of his clothes to take with him. He just had a few things there at my house, but since he’s not coming back, he’ll take the rest with him,” Lucky informed me.

I couldn’t emphasize enough about the Grand Victorian being very upscale, where the other two resorts were nothing like it.

“Talk about diversity. You couldn’t get more diverse than the GV and the PP and PF,” Clark exclaimed.

“Can it be done? I need to know if we need to spin that off to someone with experience or if we can handle this inhouse,” I told Clark and Tex. Tex smiled.

“We can do this, Josh. Hey, working for the Gaylord, a premiere first class hotel, gave me a lot of experience in upscale hotel management. The principles are the same, but in an upscale manner. We can do this. Logan has the infrastructure needed to pull this off. I have the operations experience. Clark does also. What neither of us have is the gay resort experience which can’t be that hard to manage. It’s like managing a motel only the patrons are naked. Your manager of the Pink Flamingo can do it so we can also. That’s not difficult. I say we spend most our effort on the Grand Victorian then we basically duplicate what we’re doing at the PF for the PP. Logan says he can switch us over to an operations system that will help us tremendously with both these operations. Logan does have his shit together in hotel and motel management for sure,” Tex assured us, followed up by Clark saying they could handle it, no problem. That made me feel a little better.

“We need to see how far along they are with both properties to put together and action plan to take us to opening. Logan is used to all that also. The closer we get to opening, the more time we’re going to have to spend down there working like what you’re doing at the dormitory now,” Clark informed me. Tex agreed. “We might be a little thin here or there, but we’ll make it happen. We’re also going to have to hire some local talent to help on site. Didn’t you say you wanted to remodel the Pink Flamingo once you had the Phallic Palace open?” Clark asked.

“I would definitely like to as the place hasn’t seen a face lift for possibly 20 years. I mean everything is paid for several times over and the place is 100% occupied year-round which is almost unheard of. That place prints money so to speak. However, we need to expand the amount of guest rooms we have to accommodate more guests. The capacity of the Phallic Palace will be almost twice the capacity of the PP now. I think it’s possible to put another level on the guest rooms at the PF, but Buzz will have to let us know if we can do that. Buzz and Hudson were on the couch across from Clark. We got him involved in the conversation.

“Buzz, is it possible to put another level on the guestrooms at the PF when we remodel that property?” Clark leaned over and asked Buzz. Buzz said he was sure we could do that if we wanted to. He said he’d have to look at the structure when he was there to see what the best way to do it would be, but anything could be done in his mind. Buzz told Hudson to make a note of that. Hudson put something in his phone. Buzz then started to explain what the PF was like structurally and how they might approach something like adding an additional level to the structure to accommodate more rooms. The two of them involved themselves in a deep technical conversation that left Clark, Tex and I behind. We conversed amongst ourselves about the management of the new properties. It wasn’t long until I looked over and Buzz and Hudson had fallen asleep. Hudson’s head was on Buzz’s shoulder, their heads up against one another. They both seemed content.
